The Redmen travel deep into Amish Country for what will be the 3rd matchup between these 2 schools. The first meeting came at the Regional Semifinal level back in 1993, with the Redmen edging the Knights 7-6 in Berea. The second meeting came in week 1 of 2002, with Bellevue winning 40-13 on a Saturday afternoon after the scheduled Friday night game was washed out by a storm that hit less than an hour before kickoff.
So far this year West Holmes has lost 20-14 to Wooster Triway and 49-24 to New Philadelphia. This is pretty much a must win for Bellevue if we want any shot at making the playoffs this year.

Mansfield Senior Tygers, are now the only unbeaten team left in the Ohio Cardinal Conference. West Holmes has only won 3 games in the last two years. The Redmen could use a big win to get their heads straight after the Clear Fork game, hopefully giving them the lift they'll need going into the Shelby game on Sept. 15th. And if I'm not mistaken Armstrong will be back from his suspension.

You guys are putting some serious mileage on the buses this year. From Bellevue Senior High School, 200 Oakland Ave, Bellevue, OH 44811 to West Holmes High School, 10909 OH-39, Millersburg, OH 44654 1 h 37 min (73.8 miles) via US-250 E Assuming that's the quickest way there, without detours, a couple of slow downs for a horse and buggy and planning for two stops, (Wife always has to stop for something) I should be able to make it with exactly three minutes to spare before kick off. Little bit of a journey, but I do love a road trip.

Nice rebound from last week. Hope Ed uses rest of the game to work on areas that's needing improvement.

guess Bellevue has a lot to work on. every post that say Redmen will kick butt - well, wishful thinking doesn't count for much or some just don't have a clue. "Old" week 3 would have been a serious butt kicking by Clyde. The way the Bellevue team is heading week 10 won't be well attended....except by Clyde.

[br Bellevue could have blown this game out had they kept passing. IMO,anyway. Riley was spot on with his passing. For whatever reason they ran the ball. Alot. GREAT EFFORT BY WH, they almost pulled it out.

Bellevue could have blown this game out had they kept passing. IMO,anyway. Riley was spot on with his passing. For whatever reason they ran the ball. Alot. GREAT EFFORT BY WH, they almost pulled it out. I don't agree with this comment that it had anything to do with the offense or play calling. Aside from the fumbled kickoff return and the final knees there were only 2 possessions Bellevue didn't score on, and the one where we punted had the drive stalled because we tried passing when the running game had just picked up a couple first downs. Though I do think we should have passed on that 4th and long inside their 20 with 2 minutes left (however I do agree with the 3 straight runs before that to run clock and eat up WH's 2 remaining timeouts) The real reason this game was so close was the Bellevue defense's inability to get off the field in crucial 3rd and 4th down situations. There must have been at least 6 different times where we had them facing 3rd or 4th and long with a chance to get the ball back and either go ahead 3 scores or put the game away, and on every single one they picked up a first down...and they had at least one of those conversions on every one of their scoring drives. The only punt we forced all game was on their first possession, otherwise it was the turnovers that saved us, especially those 2 in the redzone in the 4th.

^^^I agree. Just thought a few more passes would of padded the lead by a couple more touchdowns. Either way a wins a win. Now on to Shelby.

I hate to say it being a Bellevue guy but the whippets are a heavy favorite in this game and talent alone won't win it for the Redmen. it's going to take some creative play calling offensively and some luck
