This will be at 90th consecutive meeting between these 2 schools, and at least the 95th overall (they've played every since 1928, and also played 1921-1925)
Shelby won last year 66-0.

No sticker shock here. Shelby runs away with this one early. The only thing Willard can hope for is no injuries.

Last start for the replacements. They may look to go out with big numbers.

Willard should look into a rule change on the running clock rule. By change I mean just starting it at kickoff.

How long will this "rivalry" last? By definition, if not in the same league, a "rivalry" requires both teams to win some of the games, not getting blown out in all games.

There is not a rivalry here! My understanding is that the Willard coach wanted to drop Shelby from the schedule but I heard the Superintendent said No! Maybe it is time to drop the Superintendent and let the A.D. do the schedule.

It is my belief that when Shelby joins the MOAC their three non-conference games will be Madison, Lexington & Bellevue.

It is my belief that when Shelby joins the MOAC their three non-conference games will be Madison, Lexington & Bellevue. That would make sense for Shelby to get ready for league play. You don't want to schedule marshmallow teams to make your record look good and then get smacked in the mouth come league time.

This game should be over real early!!!
Madison n Lex, are not very good this year.
I don't know who will give them a game this year.
They are one of the better teams around this area, how good we will see down the road
Them leaving the SBC and going to MOAC I don't think is a good move
They could play in the other bracket and be playing all the old NOL teams, which they wanted to save, so why didn't they do that?
The OCC would be better fit for Shelby, just my opinion!!
Last, what did they do to field, it looks terrible for first game played on this year!!

OCC denied Shelby from joining, they tried...as for field, we are being told it has a mysterious "fungus". I find it interesting that it looked excellent mid-July for Bicycle Days and looks as bad as it does now...🤔

The OCC would be better fit for Shelby, just my opinion!! The current SBC setup is an abortion. There will constantly be schools complaining about what division they are in or another school won't play then in crossover games, blah blah blah. No matter how hard they try, the SBC will never be stable with that many schools. The constant drives to Lake Erie will not be missed. Shelby will be much better positioned being a member of the MOAC. As for the OCC, you can thank West Holmes for the one 'nay' vote to deny Shelby entry. That ship has now sailed.

Well if they played in other division they would not be driving to Lake Eire
They would be playing all the NOL schools but Willard.
As for OCC Shelby just didn't want to join it, I believe.
As for field you are saying its a mysterious fungus or a ploy to get new field!!!

Nah, that field gets patchy here and there in recent years. I believe it has to do with the Black Fork river right next to it. Weird things seep into the soil when the water levels get too high.
I don't know what the town thinks but I never want a turf field in Shelby. There's something charming about the thought of a kid pampered by turf fields getting slammed into a dirt patch in Shelby.

You are incorrect on OCC...Shelby wanted in, all OCC teams voted yes except for WH...OCC stated before vote that it had to be unanimous in order to add Shelby. That is a fact, no need to give an opinion on it when it is widely know.

If the current levy passes the stadium will be moved to where the new high school is. Everything will be at one site. My guess is the new field would probably be artificial turf. I think the stadium downtown is cool. The problem is they only give the home stands about 5 ish years without expensive repairs.

Renovating the home and visitor stands would be less expensive than a new stadium. And some of the old timers may not vote for a levy it it guarantees a new stadium. But having a new stadium in 4-5 years would be just perfect to open in a new league.

Would that be adding a football field inside the current track and expanding the seating, or building a completely separate football only facility? It would be a brand new, separate facility. Too many logistical issues with the set up of the track. Too many things would need changed, updated or moved to fit a football field in. Would also likely have to resurface the track. The thought now is that the new stadium would sit where the academic wing of the current middle school stands. The only part of the middle school that would be salvaged is Joe Yohn Gymnasium, The Little Theatre, and the common area between them.

If the new stadium concept doesn't pass/get built before expensive repairs are required for current field...Shelby will be playing football inside the track. The scoreboard, play clock and visitors bleachers are all able to be moved. Yes things would have to get re-arranged for track but that will be much cheaper and more affordable than building the new stadium or making repairs to current stadium. I for one hope the new turf stadium passes as that is what Shelby needs...especially with the locker room situation currently. Using the existing locker rooms at SMS would be an improvement over what Shelby and visiting teams currently have. I don't see any scenario that has Shelby sinking money into repairing the existing home bleachers...Not sure why the track would have to be resurfaced just because there is a football field inside of it? You can fit a football field inside the existing Shelby track...would have to move high jump (maybe) and discus, not sure about shot put. Already a concession stand out there. Improved locker room facilities (Shelby would have their current SHS locker room and visitors would have the small field house).

Improved locker room facilities (Shelby would have their current SHS locker room and visitors would have the small field house). Compete resurfacing may not be necessary but the track isn't in great shape to begin with. Better than a lot of high school tracks but the project that resurfaced the track a few years ago took two tries to get it usable. I agree that playing at the current track facility would be much better than repairing the current stadium. The biggest issue as you said would be moving parts. The high jump apron would have to be completely removed as would two discus cages and circles as well as the shot put ring. The long jump pits/runways which also double as pole vault runways would possibly be in the way as well depending on the dimensions. Both teams would probably be able to use the field house locker rooms if need be as there are two locker rooms on both sides of the field house.

And the softball field would need moved for bleachers.
Took 9 seconds for Shelby to score. 7-0.
