Targeting is an act of taking aim and initiating contact to an opponent above the shoulders with the helmet, forearm, hand, fist, elbow or shoulders. No where in there does it say only defensive players can be called. I will say I don't think the ball carrier got called on the play I think it was a 2nd player. Wish I had access to film to see it. Here is a copy of the play I got from hudl. Sorry about the poor quality. The call was on #22. What do you think? so the refs called targeting on #22 for putting his hand on shoulder pad?? Hell he didn't even hit him lol thanks for sharing. I blame the procedure penalties on Harding's incompetent coaching staff bUT that was a bad call |

What do you think? i agree with what others have said Harding did shoot themselves alot in the game with fumbles and procedures but this is why people cant stand games at Pleasant... i know they are OHSAA "picked" officials but ive never seen a team that gets calls like this from officials that are random when they do games at Pleasant and im not just talking varsity i mean look at the video a targeting on this? and a example last year was their qb simple ran out of bounds after running for yards and Harding gets called for a late hit when he wasnt even touched lol im not trying to blame it all on the refs Harding did tons of mistakes that cost them but Pleasant sure seems to get alot of calls at Home lol |

A late hit doesn't necessarily have to be on the ball carrier. You can get flagged for hitting anybody after the whistle.
