Likely the Rockets last win for the season if they can beat the Pirates.

Hey, Pirates, save the tax payers gas money for the buses, and just stay home and take the L.
(I know I'm being a little harsh, but I'm just sick of this inadequate coaching staff.)

Oak Harbor, who, for what it's worth, hasn't allowed a first-team defense touchdown since a Week 2 loss to Genoa.

Piratefan, I am curious, did you have a son or sons play football at PHS?
I can't believe you would say such a thing, and yes it was harsh. The coaching staff only does so much you have to remember they don't play the game, the kids do.
You will not always have a 7-3 or better year, relax.

Yeah, piratefan that was more than a little harsh. One thing I notice about most bad teams is that they tend to have at least one stud that does all he can to keep things respectable. If Perkins does have a stud this year, I've never seen his name in print. Pirates were .500 last year after several years of strength - this was not altogether a surprise. Back in the day, a Pirate conference championship in FB came about once or twice a decade. Every team experiences this. Perkins, too, is still lucky. You'd be surprised at how many teams - in Ohio, in the country - go their entire history without so much as a conference championship, to say nothing of those that go without playoff appearances or state titles. The old SBC - the eight-team league that existed between 1986 and 2013 - reaped a great abundance of football playoff appearances thanks to Clyde, Oak Harbor, Huron, Margaretta, and Perkins. Even SMCC was able to make playoff appearances at the very beginning and nearer the end of that span. Calm down.
I can tell you this from classroom experience with some of these kids just a few years ago; this is not really a surprise. Teachers were worried about what their classroom behavior would evolve into years ago. This is just the public face, the harvested fruit of what they've known for a while about these two or three classes.
Also: I was pretty certain I knew who you were, piratefan, but Birdman's question to you threw a wrench in that. I was certain the two of you were closely related.

I have no idea who Piratefan is, so I wouldn't be able to tell you if we are in fact related or even friends. I can tell you my real name is Brett Bird, Perkins grad of 2006. So now he can make the connection. I feel the frustration in his words, looks like his emotions got the best of him.
Greenman, when you speak of knowing how the behavior was going to be in the classroom, can you elaborate more...? Are we just looking at a couple of classes with lower athletic talent or a bunch of misbehaving teenagers??
Like I said before I was part of two losing years at PHS, it's tough, very tough. No kid goes out there wanting to lose, but I do believe there is a difference in going out to play and going out to win. Do we have kids with less heart in the game right now??

The talent isn't there like it was in the early 2010s, certainly. It's been some time since I've been @ Perkins, so there may have been some growing up done by most of the classes playing varsity now. Really, I imagine it's somewhere in between everything: kids giving their best and still falling short, kids who don't sufficiently respect their opponents, and kids who believed that winning was just a given because "Perkins."

I want to apologize for my comments the last few weeks. I've let frustration, emotions, and unrealistic expectations cloud my remarks. Never did I mean to bash any players on the team. I just think the coaching is the largest part of the problem. As my name says, I've been a Piratefan for 35 years. Just that right now, I feel like a very stupid Piratefan because of my recent posts. Again, my apologies. As the saying goes, "better to keep your mouth shut, and let the world think you're an idiot, than to open your mouth, and remove all doubt." Birdman, I know who you are, and greenman, I think I know who you are, only because I watched you guys play for the Pirates years ago. I don't have any sons playing for Perkins, but my daughters were very involved in Perkins sports several years ago.

Welcome to Oak Harbor's pain Piratefan. I'm sure Coach Quis is getting a good chuckle watching these teams struggle after he left. Ziegler and May are pathetic.

Piratefan,
We have all been there, I feel you brother. I don't get to watch them hardly at all, but I check that record and Sandusky Register every Saturday to see what happened. It's tough watching the team you love so much lose and potentially have a losing record.
I hope if these kids and especially the lower classman get a taste of winning they will want it more. I was never one who LOVED practice, but I do respect the fact that practice is the most important aspect of playing sports IMO and you have to put in the work there to see the success on Friday nights.

This will be an 0-10 year. Any lingering hopes about a chance against Columbian can be put to bed.
