This year the Huron football program will have its third head coach in approximately the last 50 years. Sam Hohler will be taking over the reigns from Tony Legando who held down the job for over 25 years. Tony Munafo preceded Legando for 25 years. Sam was a player under Coach Munafo and a coach under Coach Legando.
Will the winning tradition continue? What changes will occur to the offense and defense schemes ? Are the same assistant coaches returning ?
Just thought I would throw out this situation and see what you all think. It's time to start thinking football.

DSN, I hope Huron does continue their winning ways and I think they would since your new coach has played under a winning coach and coached under another. Usually winners breed winners. my oldest son played for St. Paul's from 06 to 09 (state champs his senior year) and those Huron games where always very tough and hard fought. I wish that when my youngest son was playing for Norwalk Sr. that he would have gained the experience of playing against of a team like Huron. Can you later on give us your opinion on whom you think would be the starters and how Huron would do this year.

Nothing will change in Huron, the real question is will Sportsvideo join the new forum?

I'm guessing you will see SV here. He has pretty much divested himself from a lot of responsibilities from the football program after Tony's retirement. Same with a few H-Team guys. But, the program is bigger than a few. It will move forward in some new directions and be just fine.

Doubt if SV or Concreteman will join us, SV might only be a 'guest' viewer occasionally, We might see Race on here. Nothing will change with the Tigers football program, for now. Will see quite a few new faces pacing the sidelines this year, and Saturday mornings. Is gonna be interesting to see where we're at in football (#'s) in a few years.

Huron football program has its annual H-Team football brunch at Sawmill Creek on June 26th.
Will be interested in seeing how many of the old guard attend after Tony's retirement. SV, Race and Concreteman are normally in attendance.
My youngest graduated 13 years ago but I still enjoy the camaraderie. Lots of positive life lesson have been offered to hundreds of young men through this program. Even with the change at the top I don't see many changes on the horizon. That's a good thing.
Will pass on the new website to those in attendance.

Lowest I've seen the numbers as well (40 some) . Donut.I heard SV was still involved this year? Coach Hohler talked him into doing it again? Just a rumor but if you seem him around ask. get him on board with us here as well .

SV knows, and occasionally views as a guest. During the 2 week June football camp, I saw very little participation (not many kids) in camp, Made me wonder how many kids we're gonna have on the roster, Was a real head scratcher seeing very few kids on the field. I saw one of the coaches at Huron's Riverfest, So I asked him, and got an elusive answer at first, then gave me a ridiculous high number of kids participating this year, which I didn't believe. So I asked him, how do you get that many more kids interested from a 3-7 team last year, and knowing of a couple of transfers and a few moved out of the area. We'll see Monday Aug. 1st.

The 3-7 season does not improve numbers. A new head coaching change does not improve numbers. I'm willing to give the program a few years to find it's way. I have all the confidence in Coach Hohler and his staff.

When was the last time Huron had a losing record? I can't believe one losing season would completely change the coarse of a storied program.

2-8 in '95 then 3-7 in '85, Huron HS schedule shows we're at Springboro (down by Dayton) for week 3, OHSAA schedule shows we're at Streetsboro ( exit 187 off the Ohio Turnpike), We are at Streetsboro. A more realistic # of boys out for football in Huron's top 3 grades is 40, what I heard today, and over 100 kids in the band.

Sounds Like Ontario. Last year 50 playing football 9-12. 150 in the bad 9-12. They used to have over 200 in the band.

I have heard a lot of kids decided to play soccer vs. football this year. Maybe the change in coaching staff has something to do with the numbers dropping off as well --- just a thought...

In Huron, Looks like we've started practice with 10 seniors, 26 juniors, 26 sophomores for 62 players, And 24 freshmen team players. We're very young with not much experience, Some of last years varsity playing underclassmen, either did come out this year, transferred or moved. 5th or 6th place in the SBC is a fair prediction for us.

The 62 players was from a roster that was handed to me the other day, Today we had 40 in practice, You must be correct. We're still missing some key underclassmen from last year.

I never thought I'd live to see the day that Port Clinton had more kid's out for football than Huron. I can't speak in absolutes but I'd say if those kid's haven't shown up by now on day four they'll never show up at all.
