Buckeyes get verbal from Tate Martell from Las Vegas, the nations #1 dual threat QB
The Buckeyes 2017 recruiting class is already the best in the nation, just got better! Todays commit from Martell increases the likelihood of 5 star WR Tyjon Lynsey.
Don't know how this is going to effect the recruitment of the nations #2 dual threat QB Emory Jones from Georgia, who the Buckeyes were sitting in a good position with. My guess Jones will be looking elsewhere.
This class is has been an insanely good success for Meyer and his staff. The scary thing is, they are onto some other 5 star recruits to finish this class.

No way Jones comes here now, which is fine. I wouldn't expect him to. We also have Danny Clark committed, who I could see decommitting eventully. And then Dwayne Haskins is already on campus plus Joey Burrow. The QB depth is going to be insane.

Hopefully Martell will be as good of college QB as Troy Smith. They're the same size

Hopefully Martell will be as good of college QB as Troy Smith. They're the same size Troy Smith never had footwork like Martell. In fact,, Tate has the best feet I've seen of any kid coming out of high school. Watching videos of this kid leaves you amazed at his form and technique, it's textbook. Emory Jones sounds like he is all Buckeye at this point. I think we see the departure of Danny Clark before signing day.

Glad you pointed that out. As we learned so well in the recent National Championship season, you can never have enough QB talent and depth at that position can make or break a season. I hope Danny Clark stays as well, he has been all Buckeye from the very start. Danny also has a younger brother Caden, who is going to be a major prospect in a couple of years.

It's a long way to go before signing day Most of us were anticipating Todd moving elsewhere. The 'gray shirt' suggestion was the writing on the wall. Sibley truly wanted to be a Buckeye, but not enough love coming his way. Meyer and his staff must be quite confident they have some big guns to commit at the the RB position, namely Cam Akers. Wouldn't be surprised to see Danny Clark to follow Todd to Pitt, or elsewhere, soon.

I expect Clark to go too. I'm glad he's been committed so long and I'm sure he wants to be a Buckeye but I just don't see how much playing time he'll get with the QB's already committed plus Emory Jones possibly committing too in the future.

The sad fact is Emory Jones fits Meyers offensive system better than Danny Clark's pro-style. My guess, it is entirely Clark's decision one way or the other, with no encouragement from Urban to leave. Rather strange, but not unusual that there are no early commits for '18.

Not too unusual. The very early commits are usually the Danny Clarks andTodd Sibleys. Ohio kids that are very advanced for Sophomores and Freshman. They jump at the offers, but after a couple more years of competition, others are more advanced. Where as the out of state players getting early offers have more to consider and wait for.

Todays the Day!
The nations #1 OG, 5*star OL Wyatt Davis is to announce his decision today. Reportedly, the 6-5 320 lb. OL from Bellflower St. John Bosco, California narrowed his finalists between OSU and ND, but I wouldn't rule out Alabama and others. Keep the fingers crossed. Tate Martell has been heavily involved with trying to sway him to the Buckeyes.

This is insane! The nations #1 recruiting class for 017 is being mentioned with the greatest classes ever in the history of college football.
The nations #1 OG has committed to the Buckeyes! He will join the nations #1 OT Josh Meyers and Jake Moretti. An opportunity to run behind that great line up front, don't be surprised to see Cam Akers jump on the Buckeye bandwagon.

#3 player in Ohio, #15 and rising Corner in the country, Four* Amir Riep from Colerain. Commits at Friday Night Lights.
Trevon Grimes, 6-4 210 4.45 5* #4 WR in the country, #20 overall player in the country from St. Thomas Aquinas HS in Florida all but said THE word at Friday Night Lights. He said Ohio State is still at the top of his list and he's anxiously awaiting his official announcement date of AUG 24th.
Predictions are starting to be floated that this Ohio State class not only will be the #1 class, but will have the highest composite rating in HISTORY.

The recruiting classes are absutitly absurd. I got to talk to Joe burrow last night and he looks great. He has added some much needed muscle. I've felt like he will surprise people...I am bias as I was a coach and am a neighbor.

What happened in this year's NFL drat is WAY more important to high 4 Star and 5 Star recruits than National Championships

2018 #2 Dual Threat QB in the country from Georgia committed shorty after receiving an offer from his "dream school", Ohio State. Says a lot about where Ohio State recruiting is, when players from SEC country call Ohio State their "dream school".

Buckeye recruiting has established footholds in south Florida, Georgia, Texas and they are finally making a few, rare rumblings in California. Meyer is standing shoulder to shoulder with Saban in those talent rich areas. The Ohio State brand is making itself known nationwide....exciting times.

Don't forget New York, New Jersey, and North Carolina. Also, Maryland joining the Big Ten, has allowed recruits on a weekly basis to see the Ohio State program, which has opened further a very fertile DC area.

Penn State being a smoldering dumpster fire has opened up the NJ, NY and the DC area more than anything. I'm not exactly sure how much OSU has actually opened up New Jersey for themselves. They got Fuller last year but this year it is likely they pull no one out of Jersey. To me that is a huge surprise considering Urb's hired a living legend in that state to be his DC. Ash has some in state momentum right now but I question if it will last. Rutgers will be lucky to cobble together 4-5 wins this year and is facing likely blow out losses to Michigan and Ohio State. Can he hold that class together after a season of losing? Given the division they are in and their lack of resources. Rutgers might be the worst job in the B1G.

Lamont Wade 5* corner from PA, high on Ohio State, left his dream school Michigan off his list of 8 schools. The reason given was the way they treated him. They told him he was a 2nd level player before he got his 5th star and he had to go to their camp to get an offer. When he didn't go to U of M's camp they called and offered, denying they said anything of the sort to him.

Ohio State commit, 6-4 180 Emory Jones from Georgia received his Fifth Star from Rivals. Who now has him ranked as the #3 QB in the country and the #1 Dual threat QB. An embarrassment of riches at QB for Ohio State.

Currently the Big Ten has commitments from 14 of top 100 players in the 2017 class. Nine are committed to Ohio State, next is Michigan with two.
