Arizona 4* pro-style QB Jack Miller announcing his commitment 2 p.m. Sunday. Miller is expected to become a Buckeye.

As expected Miller commits to Ohio State. The qb room at Ohio state is going to be stacked for a number of years. Ever since Miller was offered by Ohio state in his freshman year there has been talk to keep an eye on him as one who’d probably commit here.
Just throwing this out there but I wouldn’t be surprised if Baldwin ends up being like Joe Burrow and transferring at some point, I could see him being the odd man out eventually.

Given the fact, Ohio State is clearly going with pro-style QB's in their recruitment, that leads many close to the program to believe we will be seeing a revamped offensive look this fall, with less reliance on the feet. If that's the case, Tate Martell may be looking at an offensive scheme that much less resembles the read option that we have come so familiar in the UFM era. Martell has been patient, but this season may clarify his fit and role in Ryan Day's offense. Martell could be the one taking his talents elsewhere, when all's said and done. By the Penn State game, we should know the direction of this offense.

If you look at video of all their "pro-style" QBs, other than Haskins ....they're considered "pro-style" due to the offenses favored by their HS head coaches. The QB they stole from MSU athletically reminds me of Torrance Gibson, but is a better passer and played in a Pro offense in high school. Miller is asked to run even less, but when he does he jukes and out runs DBs. Both could run the entire Urban Meyer playbook, where Haskins can not.
Urban has said he will NEVER recruit a QB that isn't athletic enough to extend plays and be a threat to run the ball.
EVERY play that Haskins will be asked to run is already in Urban's playbook. With him at QB, 75% of the QB run and read option plays won't be used. Which from a mental stand point makes it easier for Haskins and the entire offense, compared to when a dual threat QB is behind center.
If this year Ohio State is as good as many think and Haskins preforms as is expected, he will be gone and Martel will be the QB next year and the others will be learning to run read option plays. AND hopefully they all stay and take their turn.
Martel's #1 job this year is to stay healthy. If Burrow was still here they would have used Martel a lot in special packages in the Red Zone. Now I think they will be afraid to use him much in fear of him being injured. Then the backup becomes someone who has never seen the playbook before.
ALSO this year Meyer offered an 8th grader that came to Ohio State's camp, who Urban said was THE best QB at the camp.

It also helped that the Tailback in Miller's offense is a 4 Star originally from Akron and already committed to Ohio State. How often is a top 4 Star QB and Tailback on the same team in high school?

Good comments from MF, except the chances of Haskins bolting for the NFL after only one year as a starter is rather unlikely.

Good comments from MF, except the chances of Haskins bolting for the NFL after only one year as a starter is rather unlikely. What would you do if your team made the playoffs and all of your receivers graduate or leave early and over half of your O-line graduates or leaves early? Making it unlikely your stats would be as good the next season. He wouldn't be the first skilled position player to leave early under those circumstances. I know it's basketball, but why did Keita Bates Diop leave when he had another year left? Three important players graduated. He ended up being a late 2nd round draft choice, but he wanted to start the clock on pro money coming in. Today 11warriiors, looked at all Ohio State QBs on scholarship or committed and came to the same conclusion I did last week. It is VERY unlikely all of those QBs will stay at Ohio State. The mostly likely to leave being Baldwin. He was a one year starter in high school and his best offer and where he was committed before Ohio State "stole" him was Colorado State. Not exactly a noted football school. Give Baldwin credit, he wasn't afraid to compete for the job at Ohio State... OR...being in the QB room at Ohio State and working with their coaches for 3 years, will set him up for what he saw Joe Burrow do. Like Burrow if you're a bright football player, you must start taking classes the summer before your Freshman year starts, be on campus year round taking classes and can handle a full class load with football requirements. There is no reason you can't graduate after your red shirt Sophomore year(3 years of coaching) and have 2 years of eligibility as a graduate transfer. THE Joe Burrow plan.

There is no reason you can't graduate after your red shirt Sophomore year(3 years of coaching) and have 2 years of eligibility as a graduate transfer. THE Joe Burrow plan. NFL teams are not interested in acquiring QB's lacking four full years of development and refinement. Historically, most all drafted D-I QB's have finished their Sr. year. I think you're thinking too hard on the QB situation at Ohio State. It will play itself out and I agree that Baldwin would be the most likely candidate to be that odd man out, but I also think when all's said and done, Martell may be looking to transfer elsewhere as well. His passing game was underwhelming this spring. I also think Ryan Day, who is showing all indications of moving to a more pocket passing oriented offense, is willing to build a gadgetry oriented offense around Tate Martell, who would have been the 3rd stringer, had not Joe Burrow taken his initiative. Most likely, Martell will be utilized in a situational role. Most likely confined to a four down, clock eating manner inside the red zone. Viewing the QB's we have recruited and Haskins the obvious starter, don't see Tate Martell earning a starting job at Ohio State. I can see him eventually transferring to pursue and hopefully, achieve his personal goals.

Cardale would have been drafted higher if he entered the draft after starting just THREE games instead of coming back for "refinement".
The 4 of the top QBs drafted last year all left early.
Sam Darnald was a red shirt Soph like Haskins
Josh Rosen played for 2 1/2 years
Josh Allen played 3 years at Wyoming of all places.
Lamar Jackson 3 years at Louisville.
Baker Mayfield was the only 4 year starter. AND Mayfield completed 70% of his passes. Rosen, Allen and Jackson had a lower completion % than JT Barrett.
NFL teams use high draft choices when drafting QBs based on their physical measurables and who they envision as being stars in the NFL.
All we heard last year from the "experts" was what a stud Haskins is. He has a cannon for an arm. He has a very high ceiling, He is definitely an NFL QB. AND it appears that Haskins would prefer to start making money in the NFL over continuing to go to classes.
BTW, Urban Meyer is the head coach not Ryan Day. No "gadgets" required for Mayfield, just Urban Meyer's playbook. I do agree if Mayfield doesn't improve passing accuracy, he will be bypassed by a younger QB, even though Urban loves his quick twitch.
Jack Miller's high school coach said he would be a great fit for Urban's offense based on his speed and that he runs read options to perfection as a high school Sophomore. Tim Tebowish as a 6-4 210 high school Soph and a better passer. Urban has been talking to Jack Miller almost daily over the past 2 years, for the most part on religion and his offense.

I cannot think of a college qb who came back to school after having a chance to be a high draft pick improving his stock. Maybe Manning. Gotra strike when the iron is hot.

I think 2017 was an unusual year for underclassmen QB's. Also consider there were 10 QB's drafted and those that went undrafted, not sure about the number. Urban has alluded to the fact he will be giving the QB less legwork and relying more on his two gifted RB's and Ryan Day has hinted it will be spread around a little more than we have seen in recent years. One things for sure, it won't be status quo. The comments on Jack Miller are quite true, Urban wanted this kid bad. He fits the Tebow mold.

You're just guessing. I'm not going to do any more homework for you. My post was about the 2018 draft.
2017 Draft.
Top 4 QBs drafted were Mitch Trubisky, Dashaun Watson, Patrick Mahones and DeShone Kizor.
Trubisky left college after 3 years. Watson after 2 1/2 years as a stater. Mahones 2 1/2 years Kizor, after Sophomore year.
How many of those guys do you think will be All-League QBs?

No, the last draft, the one I first talked about was the 2018 draft. Mayfield, Darnold, Rosen, Allen, Jackson. The 2017 draft had Trubisky, Watson, Mahones and Kizor. Research that instead of guessing.
The QB's I mentioned are 1st round picks, the BIG money QBs, the QBs the GMs trade up to get. A lower round pick could end up being more successful, but the GMs didn't think so on draft day. QBs picked in the 1st round get paid the big money. They're the ones worthy of talking about. QBs picked in later rounds are likely to stay for 4 or 5 years, no one wants them for big money. QBs who come out early know they're going to be taken in the first round and make big money NOW. The last 2 drafts have proven that.

Still, my point remains, the rare few underclassmen that jump doesn't portray the bigger picture of the norm of utilizing the their full eligibility. It is the exception and no the rule.

Ohio state gets another big time offensive line recruit in Luke Wypler. This offensive line class is going to be a good one. Unlike the 2019 class that got off to a slow start the '20 class is out of the gates early. 4* Wypler is considered the #3 rated OG in the nation for this class. He joins 5* OT Paris Johnson and 4* Jack Wray in what is shaping up as a banner year for the OL.

Kane is yet, another recruit maintaining a high quality standard that Urban is doing with innate consistency these days. Although he exploits his football smarts and quickness as a RB, he will be an outstanding LB for the Buckeyes, where he is ranked as the 8th best ILB in the country for the 2019 class.

Most Ohio State fans in the know, are going to have heightened anxiety this coming month, in anticipation of the #1 football player in American choosing between the Buckeyes, Michigan or PSU. Zach Harrison is a freakish athlete, with that rare blend of size, athleticism and incredible quickness and speed. Most experts give the nod to OSU, but he will be attending the annual BBQ in Ann Arbor just prior to the time he is expected to announce. Let's hope his close relationship with coach Larry Johnson seals the deal for the Buckeyes. Let's also hope we don't lose a highly heralded #1 recruit from the Buckeye state two years in a row.

Ohio State adds a commitment for the 2019 class from TE Cormontae Hamilton. He wanted an offer from Ohio state so bad that he bought a bus ticket from Tennessee to make it to Friday Night Lights. Although, Cormontae is listed as a TE, the position he has been utilized thus far in his continuing H.S. legacy, let's not get too solidified in the notion Urban and his staff have ideas of keeping him confined to that position. Watching videos of Cormontae in action, show a very athletic, unusual power and speed and possessing soft hands and inept catching ability for a man of his size and stature. This young athlete is listed at 6-1 256, but 247sports has him listed at 6-2 and Rivals has him listed at 6-3 in height. I wouldn't rule him out as a TE prospect at Ohio State, but I strongly suspect Urban and staff have other things in mind for this young man. What raises my eyebrow a bit is the fact that Tony Alford has been heavily involved with his recruitment.....hmmm So far, this 3* kid has been under the recruiting radar, except the fact Urban Meyer and Nick Saban both wanted this kid and I think they are both on the same train of thought, visioning him in similar fashion. My thinking is, Urban may be seriously looking at transforming him into an Ohio State running back in the vision of the next Leveon Bell. This kid is a chiseled hulk, great hands, very fleet afoot and an exceptional blocker, both at the point of attack and down field blocking. I strongly suspect this kid will never see the TE position once he arrives at The Ohio State University, a position flush with a wealth of talent. This will be a developmental project, perhaps initially giving him the ball in short, goal-line situations, where an extra, big blocker out of the backfield is warranted, or utilizing him as that hammering power back that Urban has been wanting for a long, long time. A full-house backfield, with strength against strength, power against power and we are not going to be denied the endzone mentality has been somewhat missing for a while. This is the Big Ten, where physicality and power usually rule the day. It seemed Leveon was carrying the ball for the Spartans for an eternity, just seemed that way.

The Buckeyes land commit #15 in 2019 recruiting class. 4* WR Jameson 'Juiceman' Williams a 6-2 170 lb. speedster out of Cardinal Ritter Prep, St. Louis, Mo. This kid is going to be a great WR for the Buckeyes. He picked Ohio State over finalists Alabama, Nebraska, Oklahoma State, Oregon and UCLA. A track star and one of the fastest players in the entire 2019 class. Ohio State recruiters have coveted this kid for a long time and he was one of their main focused targets for the 019 recruiting cycle.
