Currently the Big Ten has commitments from 14 of top 100 players in the 2017 class. Nine are committed to Ohio State, next is Michigan with two. Michigan will do most of it's damage on the top 100 down the stretch. If I had to take a guess Michigan will pull the following top 100 kid's off the 247 composite. 5* WR Donovon Peoples-Jones 4* OT Isiah Wilson 4* OG Tedarelle Slaton 4* LB Drew Singleton 4* C Cesar Ruiz 4* WR Nico Collins Some kid's outside the top 100 that I think Michigan will land 4* CB Ambry Thomas # 101 4* ATH Markquese Bell # 177 4* S Jaylen Kelly Powell- # 254 Some kid's Michigan has a good shot at 5* CB Darnay Holmes 4* LB Jordan Anthony 4* DT Jay Tufele 4* CB Alex Perry

Sure thing or most probable Ohio State future commits in the Top 100 of 2017.
Projected as 100% Ohio State.
Trevon Grimes, Florida Saint Thomas Aquinas, 5* #15 overall, #3 WR Tyjon Lyndsay, California, same school as QB commit Tate Martell, 4* #33 overall #5 position rank, Urban's Percy Harvin position.
Ohio State is their current favorite.
Jeffrey Okudah, Texas, 5* #5 overall, #1 Safety Cam Akers, Mississippi, 5*, #7 overall, #2 RB
Ohio State is in his Top 3 - Baron Browning, Texas, 5* #8 overall, #2 OL8
50/50 between Ohio State and Oregon - 4* Jay Tufele, Utah #58 overall #3 DT.
Ohio State should end up with at least EIGHT Five Star recruits and 6 of the Top 18 players in the country. Unheard of.

There is no questioning that Ohio State's class is impressive and quite possibly the highest rated classed every assembled. I do have a few questions though.
1. Tate Martell- 5'10 quarterback's are usually either boom or bust. Can he sit in the pocket and be successful at a power 5 level at that height? I know he's a dual threat but sometimes you have to sit in the pocket. Judging by the reports I've read he will probably need an attitude adjustment when he gets to Columbus as well.
2. If Ole **** has a good season it might be hard to get Akers out of Mississippi. Pulling top kid's out of the deep deep south is a hard order. It's even harder when Ole **** is willing to go the extra $$$ mile to get kids. Ohio State isn't going to pay for a kid but Ole **** will be more than happy to.

Troy Smith 5-11, Drew Breeze 5-11, Doug Flutie 5-9. We're not talking about a Harbaugh QB. Urban doesn't expect his QBs to "sit in the pocket". He wants them to be able to avoid the rush, extend plays, throw on the run and run the read option. The coaches at Ohio State don't have time to adjust attitudes. Players have to adjust their own attitudes or they will never play. Urban has always said he will make it easy for them to leave. In the case of Tate, Ohio State has an embarrassment of riches at QB, here and on the way.

Anyone feel the ground tremble a bit today? There's a reason, Urban Meyer has received a commitment from not one, but two of the top receivers (5* star) in the country simultaneously in a joint announcement. Add this coup to a class that was already the top recruiting class in the nation, things are creeping towards 'epic'. The nations top safety Jeffery Okudah has a campus visit soon, getting him would be monstrous!

For some reason, you left out 'Johnny Football' from the group of shorties who excelled at the collegiate level.

Ohio State recruit J.K. Dobbins injured on the first play of the season. Good news is it appears to be an ankle sprain. Dobbins is the #1 all-purpose back in the country from Lagrange high school in Texas

This is a bit off topic, but since OSU has two recruits starting for the IMG Ascenders and others being recruited on some of the other top programs, how they fare is of prime interest. What was the deal with Moretti?

He wanted Colorado all the way and once they started having decency he pulled from osu. But he wasn't excpected to play right away so it's not an impact. And in the coming weeks equal rated lineman from Massillon is projected to choose osu.

I can understand a Colorado boy wanting to stay home and play for a resurgent Colorado program. Michigan got a load of crap for having a helluva fight with Colorado in September. Fast forward to November and Colorado is playing for a spot in the PAC 12 title game and has an outside shot at the playoffs or big time bowl game.
I do think your attempt to dismiss Moretti as "not an impact" and attempt to say Thayer Munford is an equal player are way off base. Moretti may have torn an ACL his senior season but he's still the number 78 player and 13th tackle nationally according to the 247 composite rankings. Munford is the #281 player in the country and #31 OT. Replacing Moretti with Munford is not replacing an equally ranked player with an equally ranked player.

Like I said he isn't a big loss. There's depth at o line with couple added in 17 class and will be in 18 class they will be deep.

Ohio State currently has commits from two O-linemen #1 and #3 at their positions. #10 and #15 over all. Both 5 Stars. I'm sure they're not to concerned about losing the #13 player at his position and #78 overall.
I'd do the same. I'd want to play for the home state team that has turned their program around. I hope for Morreti it isn't a flash in the pan as it has been multiple times in the past.

Pete Werner (decommitted from Notre Dame). He will be committing to Ohio State.
Look for OSU to move on from Simmons (Ann Arbor kid who recently visited Michigan State).

In this case, we will benefit from the total unraveling of the Notre Dame football program, as their top recruits begin to de-commit, one by one. The Werner kid, is a high quality individual, from a great family, aside from his athletic prowess. Keep it going Urban!

Werner should commit any day to Ohio state, better ranked then Simmons. But Simmons is still committed for now. We may have a couple recommit cause of how stacked osu is right now. Thinking they won't get pt, osu has a lot of linebackers. I'm still hopeful on okudah and cam Akers. Also in the run for browning, and top lb from Texas. Sure will land a couple

I feel good about our chances with Okudah....not quite as much with Cam Akers, but as hopeful.

Browning moved back his commitment date so I think that means something good for buckeyes cause most people thought he was going to bama that day. Okudah might be a lock.

Okudah is probably the closest to a "lock" out of anny remaining recruits.
Urban is visiting Browning tonight, as is Alabama though.
I'm not too worried if we don't Akers. We still have Weber for a few years, McCall, Antonio Williams, and Dobbins is a beast who is already committed. And we have a RB committed for the '18 class already too.
Hopefully we can get Wilson, one of the top ranked DT's in the class. That's a spot we could use some help for sure.

I'm really excited about the prospect of getting the commitment from 2018, 5* OL recruit Jackson Carmen to team up with 5* OL Josh Myers of the coming 017 class. Add to that tandem, 4* OL Wyatt Davis and Jake Moretti we have the makings of an incredible OL of the future.
(I moved this post from the OSU football Thread)

Okudah and Browning will be going to OSU.
I would be surprised if Munford is in this class. Too many high level players at other positions who want in.
