How do all the teams look this year? I know the freshman boys team is pretty talented and the eighth grade boys team has some talent. Are they keeping the freshman boys together or splitting them up?

Scrimmaged Gibsonburg and South Central on Saturday, 3 from the talented freshman class played varsity, another 3 or 4 freshman played with JV, and the remainder will play on the freshman team, Willard looked promising, although you have to consider the level of competition and being the 1st scrimmage under new coaches, I believe Willard won every 10 minute qtr they played except 1, The positives...... Willard is BIG with athleticism, they will be a difficult match up inside for anyone in the area, they go 6'8, 6'6, 6'6 and all have decent hops, PG is solid and sees the floor well, they have 6 guys who can play at the varsity level at a fairly high level, the negatives.....they have 6 guys who play at the varsity level then it drops off substantially, freshman aren't ready to contribute yet, outside shooting may be an issue, appear to have nobody to shoot the 20 footer consistently, it's way early to be passing judgement, the will be better than last year, if they can take advantage of their size maybe .500 season is attainable.

Did a couple of kids grow A LOT from Willard? Nobody was over 6'4 last year?

So the statement you made "although you have to consider the level of competition" could have been a major contributor to your eye test results. Willard was big last season and did not pose a problem for other teams. I understand things change and kids improve but losing several players with experience is not a good thing.

I'm a realist, Gibsonburg and South Central are not Huron, Vermillion, Margaretta, etc., Yes Willard was big last year and it did not present a problem for most teams, hopefully this year will be different with another year of experience behind them and a new coaching staff

You sound like a parent looking for a son's success. My guess is a freshman parent, but that's just a guess.

Realistically the Flashes not only graduated some talent but are missing a lot of experience from last season that should have returned. Realistically the team could be hopeful to win as many games as they did last season. Being a realist is knowing what you have and dealing with it. Being an optimist is hoping for something better to come along. Not truly the same thing.

I believe Willard has a scrimmage with Galion this week. If they struggle with Galion then it will be another long season for Willard.

I like your optimism crimson but I'm afraid Willard has lost too much, whether to graduation or kids not going out. I have heard several names of who didn't go out and I would say a number of them would have been starters. I hope Joe and Dave have a good year but it may be an uphill battle. One good thing is they don't have Ontario or Sandusky on the schedule this year so there's 4 games they don't have to worry about at least.

Willard wasn't super last year so graduating didn't hurt them a lot.
Kids not playing boggles my mind, you only have 1 real chance to ball with people watching you that give a damn and you'd rather wander around Willard.
Totally agree with those saying it didn't matter Willard was 'tall' last year, wasn't effective tall it was just tall. Need to learn to use that height and then dominate with it.

I imagine that a few of them woulda-coulda been starters this season.

Crimson 5,,, did you notice Dude changed my question to a smart *** question inside the quotes.
Bailey and Sowers were starters last year weren’t they?
Parrot has a shoulder injury.

Not on here to get in a pissing contest with anyone, especially someone as immature and condescending as you (Dude), but since you want to pick apart posts.....1 kid's height changed.....not multiple kids. yes Bailey and Sowers were starters last year

My guess would have been that if Bailey, Sowers, and Parrot(assuming he wasn’t injured) had all gone out those three would have been starters. With losing Daub and the Cofer kid as well as Bailey, who will make up for the scoring this year?

I have no intent to be condescending or immature but I laughed when you posted heights then within 48 hours later posted different heights. I laughed and replied to a long time poster from Willard, buckeyekid. Mistakes happen as I have made plenty and will continue to I'm sure. But being able to crack a smile at them helps us stay young. Enjoy the site and keep posting with a smile.

So Maxpreps says next scrimmage is 11/15/17 at 1030p at Willard. I know this is obviously incorrect, does anyone know the correct time?

That's the scrimmage with Galion. The schedule I saw says 530pm. If you go can you let me know how Galion does? I check schedules on arbiterlive.com
