^^^ Don't know if I can make it, but if I do I'll post up the results. I'm really looking forward to watching Willard play, they should be able to put together some good wins. I don't see any one team from the SBC being a stand out dominating team and so this season should be fun to watch. A lot of this years wins or losses are going to come down to coaching decisions imo.

With Willard being at least 3 scrimmages in, Can we assume it has not been going well since nobody wants to say anything?

With Willard being at least 3 scrimmages in, Can we assume it has not been going well since nobody wants to say anything? The calm before the storm? And you know what happens during every storm? Thunder and lighting. And logic tells you that thunder and lighting brings flashes...mighty mighty flashes. Maybe this is just the calm before the most explosive storm of the century...simply known as 'The 2017-18 State Championship Willard Crimson Flashes Basketball Season'....cue John Cena's entry music...

Willard has actually looked good, playing South Central and Gibsonburg and winning most quarters, then handling Galion pretty easily last week, Friday they traveled to Worthington Kilbourn and held their own against them and another Columbus school, depth is going to be the issue with the Flashes but they have 6 that can really play

Three of the starters told you that they handled Galion and held their own in worthington and that depth will be an issue?

Glad to hear the scrimmages have been going well. With the new coach and a changed schedule it sounds like we can expect a team with success of the old days.

That kind of success may be a stretch, just hoping we are competitive this year and continue to build year after year, maybe another year (probably 2) before we can realistically start talking about championships

I would think having three freshman playing varsity that would be the case. Once these freshman are all juniors they will be a strong bunch, if they all continue to play. The sophomore class has a few good ballers but the freshman and 8th grade class has a load of kids that can play ball.

So the Sowers kid isn't going out. I guess his dad and mom really pulled the carpet from under him when Long was fired and told him not to go out.

How does the old saying go, "blood is thicker than water"? So the kid gets punished for the parent or the parent's buddy no longer being the coach. Almost comical how these people are self serving and would sacrifice their own kids to make a point.

moneyball, that's not true. What tommygunn wrote is false. This is how rumors get started.

From the mother direct, the choice not to play was his own. Yes they as a family support and love coach Long but not at the expense of ever telling their kids not to play a high school sport.
On a personal note I'm sad to see him not play as he was one of the best players on the court in the tournament game last year, but respect his decision.

You are saying he went from a starter as a Sophomore to not playing this year, that does not add up? I'm sure the discussion around the kitchen table with him present helped influence his thinking.

That is too bad. He could have been a decent player for this new team and new coach.
