Not having been there myself to watch this game, I can't help but notice the relatively low score (by both teams). I wonder if it was a cold shooting night by both squads or a defensive struggle. I was thinking about going to see this one, but the operative word here is "cold", and I'm not 18 anymore. That being said, "gt1975", did you make it to this game? gtab, COLD is correct! I was not at the game (not leaving my warm house) but MoacPapa was and he thought Galion looked pretty good. I said something to him like "you know they are near the bottom of the Moac, right?" (he doesn't pay attention) and he was surprised...having said that, he thought NU was having an off night and couldn't make any shots and he was frustrated by the lack of effort on defense. He also questioned why NU coach wasn't using his 4 seniors and favoring some of the younger kids over him. One senior in particular sat on the bench quite a bit and I could tell on facebook that his dad was not happy about that. I sense some frustration with playing time for the 4 seniors. I could go on and on but this isn't the place for it. NU won the JV game by around 20. Anyways let's hope for warmer weather soon, I am headed to RV tonight to watch the NU girls play if the game is still on.

MOAC has not not been good in hoops for 10 years. KMAC is better than MOAC. KMAC is 4-3 vs MOAC. two moac wins were Galion beating Cardington by 3 in 2OT and RV beating Cardington by 3. Norhtmor beat Pleasant. Highland beat Ontario. Northmor and Pleasant are about the same size. Northmor is 9-0 and Pleasant lost by 1 on the road. Highland and Ontario about the same size. Ontario has the youngest team they've had in 30 years. Highland has 6-6 and 6-5 Seniors that are as good as anyone in the MOAC. The game was at Highland. Ontario beat Highland the past 2 years. Ontario, Clear Fork and Shelby joining the MOAC and NU leaving will make the MOAC a better conference.

When you're not winning a coach will start to play underclassmen more and Seniors less. Senior parents have a hard time comprehending and accepting this. An opponent scoring 53 doesn't usually indicate a lack of effort on defense.

The two smaller schools of the KMAC are better than the bigger schools.

Others who have been around the moac longer and know this coach, probably understand it a lot better.

Northmor better enjoy their success of feasting on the scrub teams of the “Kmac”. They are in for a rude awakening come tournament time when they run into Johnstown, Grandview, Africentric, Acadamy, and Wellington. I believe there coach was talking about a final four run—comical! They will be lucky to win 2 games in the tournament this season in D3 central district!

I was told their coach even set up a shoot around on the Ohio State floor and visit to the locker rooms so they would feel more comfortable in March.

They will have a rough way even if they make it to regionals. The likes of a very good Ottawa Glandorf and Cardinal Stritch are possible matchups. Of course unless they take the route to the south and go to weak Athens region.. Either way I agree they will find tough sledding in the central district some good teams down there this year.

I agree on their tough path. Knowing they could be good this year they did very little if anything to beef up their schedule to get them ready for tournament. Playing a couple good D4 teams will not prepare them for Africentric or Columbus Academy.

RV 24 MH 11 MH looks flat and slow today back to the no offense. thought they had jumped the hump but guess not. Here’s where i was saying RV could steal a couple league wins with a below average team.

Final Ontario 71 Galion 61.
Luckily Alsip had an off night with 13. Ontario's freshman Giffin Shaver held him to 2 in the 1st half. Alsip did a nice job of sharing the ball with his teammates when closely guarded. A lot of Galion players made 3-pointers, to keep it close. Shaver also in double figures for the second game in a row. IMO he's playing better than the Junior starter at PG. Still way to many turnovers by the young players.
Ontario 69-38 in JV game. Freshman Colton Kurtz with 26 in 3 quarters of play. He's made 11 of 15 3-pointers in the last 2 games.

Did the Seniors play more or are the underclassmen taking advantage of their opportunity?

Don't post untruths, don't make up numbers. According to the OHSAA, Northmor has 148 boys in the top 3 grades, Pleasant has 169. Highland has 221, Ontario 248. As I said "close". AGAIN, Pleasant lost by 1 point AT Northmor, most say home court is worth 5 points. We'll never know, but I'd bet a lot of money that Danville and Cardington are not going to beat Harding and BV. Even with Harding without their best player and BV missing 3 starters.

The Ontario starters didn't play in the 4th quarter and the bench players extended the lead. Ontario was up by 20 at half time. Henige sent the Junior and the Frosh that scored 26 to the locker room to join the varsity at the end of the 3rd quarter. That isn't happening if it's a close game.

I've read 67-57 and 71-61. I wasn't sure which one was correct. Since you were there I'm assuming your score is the correct one..... But no, Galion's JV has not scored 57 yet this year. They haven't won and I don't think they will.

With your age and claimed wisdom I would have thought you would know that All basketball divisions are set using the school's basketball enrollment numbers after the competitive balance is figured. The truth is the basketball enrollment numbers for the 4 schools are Northmor 150, Pleasant 169, Highland 229 and Ontario 271.

. Shaver also in double figures for the second game in a row. IMO he's playing better than the Junior starter at PG. Since becoming a starter he has really taken off. He should thank the previous starter for getting kicked of the team and opening the spot.
