^^ I was all in on Mayfield but was really disappointed with the Ward pick at #4. I thought he was too small to be a shut down corner.I stand corrected. He looks great so far.
A 4.32 40 time makes up for a few pounds. He has perfected the rugby tackle technique taught at Ohio State. Which also makes a big difference if you are a little undersized for a CB. We should learn our lesson by remembering Antoine Winfield. 5-9 178, who successfully played 14 years in the NFL.
Speed is relevant.Rugby tackling technique, well OK I'll by in.. I don't think they taught it to Winfield in 1998 but maybe it's a tradition. Some CBs are just gifted.

Whatever skills Ward has aren't taught just at OSU. The coaches from Winfields' days are long gone. I just think some DB's have a knack for being able to tackle and some have the ability to cover. The really good ones can do both and are All Pro and if they stay healthy ---have long careers and get paid well. I also questioned the pick of Ward even though I'm an OSU homer. What I'm starting to believe is that John Dorsey is a pretty good judge of NFL talent.

THE best hire by the Browns in the past decade is John Dorsey. Then, his hires of D and O coordinators. Thus far his first draft and free agent signings also show his worth.

Dorsey has done a great job since he arrived. I can't recall feeling this much optimism that they are finally moving forward as a franchise. They aren't where they need to be yet, but many of the pieces seem to be in place and I have faith that they will continue addressing weaknesses in the roster, coaching staff, and front office. Finally having a ball-hawking D has been especially notable. Greg Williams gets a lot of credit for that. I believe he was hired by Hue under Sashi, not Dorsey, but Dorsey has definitely improved the roster, both sides of the ball.

The only reason this game is in OT is because Walt Anderson decided to redefine the term "conclusive evidence"
There were absolutely ZERO camera angles that clearly showed where the ball was located when Hyde's elbow went down. The fact they somehow invented a way to overturn that call is absolute BS.
It was almost as if they wanted to extend the drama and give Oakland one more chance to stay in the game. Then again the Browns let it happen with sloppy play after they were up 14. I saw them laughing and joking on the sideline and my first thought was this isn't good, they've lost their edge.

Agree, and I think that some of the Brown's players are celebrating and doing pre-planned displays a little too much. One play doesn't make you a good player and one win doesn't make you a good team. When you score, act like you've just done your job and have done it before. Save the celebration for when you WIN.
The game was over. All they had to do was take couple knees. To go from that to losing is an atrocity
Amen. The disappointing thing is, it just continues to happen to them. Losses snatched from the jaws of Victory. I would have considered doing two things on fourth down: 1--Go for it. If you can't get a foot on a QB sneak with an athletic QB,, you shouldn't be in the league. 2--Line up to go for it and try to draw them offsides on a hard count. If as a defense you need to hold for a foot,,you need to almost anticipate the snap count. If you were intent on punting,,do this and call time out. To me that's where we failed as a coaching staff. We had TO's to burn. A Belicheck or Tomlin would have done that.

You had me until you put "Tomlin" in there. He's as bad as Hue.

After seeing the two pictures that were used by the NFL to overturn the call, I still believe it was insufficient evidence to do so. That call prevented a Brown's victory, but the loss was on the Browns. Thought they might still pull it with 14 seconds to go, a timeout, and needing 20 yds for a FG attempt, but Baker under threw his deep receiver for the INT. Turn the page, get ready for the Ravens.

Getting John Dorsey is the best thing Cleveland has done in many years look at the talent he put in Kansas City. Give the guy three years and watch out. Hope Cleveland lets him make a move to get a head coach next year.
Did the NFL say anything about the BS fumble by Carr?
lol, like 5 days later.
They waited 5 days cause they knew it was such a BS call. Thankfully it didn't turn out to be a defining play, as OAK punted next play and Browns scored that drive to make it 42-34. OAK went Turnover on Downs the next series.
Lots of time left, so it wasn't quite the "that changed the game" play that the 1st down reversal was.

At least they squeaked this one out. So many times they have found new and creative ways to lose. This one they pulled out a w. I’m still not sold on Hue but he has more wins already this year than in his first 2 years combined. Let that sink in.....

It's sinking in... And I still don't know what to think about him... Should we be glad that he is improving? Is he even improving? How do know that its Hue Jackson and not our coordinators?
What does Hue Jackson actually do on the Browns? We attribute all our defensive mistakes on Greg Williams. We attribute all our offensive mistakes on Todd Haley. We attribute all our special teams mistakes on Amos Jones. Besides 4th down decisions, extra point decisions, challenges, and clock management, what can we be sure to attribute to him week in and week out?

I’m just glad to finally see them winning some games. I’m not sold on Hue long term either. Would not be suprised to see Dorsey eventually replace him.

Hue is a currently a figure head. His only responsibility is to decide whether to go for it on 4th and short and when to kick field goals or not. He no longer calls offensive plays. He never called defensive plays.
