Yes, JT was a great stat guy. How about Ohio State losses when JT was the starting QB? Ohio State lost 6 in 4 years. Of those six, one was against the National Champion, one was against a Final Four team. One was his first game as Freshman with 2 weeks to prepare, after Braxton was injured. As a Senior he was ranked as the #8 QB in the country.

Ok you also watched Barrett for 5 years and the passing just wasn't there yet. Not real concerned. I've seen SRs go out there and stink. I'll take talent. NO ONE was able to watch Barrett for 5 years. His Freshman redshirt year he was rehabbing from a knew surgery he had late in his Senior year in high school.

Of the 3,000 yds passing that is being celebrated, how many came from a pass longer than 15 yds down field.? Not taking anything away fro JT, just putting it into perspective. Of Haskins completions in the Michigan game. One was 15 yards downfield, one was thrown behind the line of scrimmage and the others were thrown 4 yards down field. 90% of his pass yardage were YAC.

I closely watched the youtube video of all of JT's school record TD passes. 41% were thrown longer than 15 yards down field.

Huh? I think he won every conceivable award in the B1G and owns most passing records. He passed for 3,059 yards last year. Yes, the passing was there. To borrow a quote from my good friend Scarlet Fever: "There are 3 kinds of lies: Lies, Damned Lies, and Statistics." I think you can take it from there. Like your "damn lie" at the top of this page 5?

I’m confused Willard, are you saying that the standards of acceptance are more stringent under Meyer than they were under tresses? I was under the impression that your argument was that it would be impossible for Meyer to recruit another Hernandez type at osu like he did at Florida. I was simply pointing out that the possibility still exists.

Actually, there was an article on 11 Warriors within the past week or so, that talked about the high standards the university has in place concerning character and academics. Urban has stepped away from numerous recruits in recent years, due to concerns of this nature. I have been impressed by the high quality of the young men we are getting into the program.

Obviously, you don't follow Ohio State recruiting on a regular basis.

I don't think it needs to be explained to you, when the recruiting team makes a decision to back away and cool things, it is done in a low key fashion. It is most often revealed in a few, discretely worded mention, as it should be.

Like I said before, when undergoing media questions about this recruit or that recruit, they subtly mention 'we are no longer pursuing that person', or 'we are exploring other options'. I have seen these kinds of references every year under Urban. The average reader will have lost the message in the overall text of the story.

Yes, JT was a great stat guy. The stats are mere byproducts of a great collegiate career, most importantly, he won a hell of a lot of games for The Ohio State University.I thought they were team wins?

The QB gets credit for wins and losses, just the way it is, as a pitcher gets credit for wins and losses in baseball. I got your point however and I agree with you.

Wins is not an official stat for QBs rofl. We went over this when Brett Favre retired.
Nice try tho.

I was simply pointing out that the possibility still exists. Don't be. YES, the standards are much different for Urban than Tressel. Didn't you read my post, concerning what was in Urban's contract? The "suggestions", which if not followed could cost him his job, are there due to MO C. and what caused the demise of Tressel. The possibility always exists, but if you recruit as many kids as possible from good families, with good academics and vet the player for bad acts in high school. The possibilities of a bad egg goes done exponentially. ALSO, if a mistake is made on a recruit, Urban once said they will make it VERY easy for that kid to transfer. Weeding out. BTW, I held my breath when they signed Clarett. I worked with a guy from Warren, who told me that he was dealing in high school. I didn't have to hold my breath that long when things started going sideways. I even mentioned it on JJ and it got me booted for a few months. Then an "I told you so", got me booted again. They had no sense of humor OR reality.

I totally get your point and there is no disagreement. But......It's not an offical stat, just a reference or measuring stick used by the media. Simply, did they win the damn game when this QB was behind center....lol

All-American Nick Bosa has announced he is leaving school to concentrate on rehab and prep for NFL draft. Not a big surprise, but certainly a big disappointment for the team and fans. Wish him the best in his recovery and future endeavors.
