Senior projects? I have never heard of them but I would agree they are silly but if the school mandates them then the students must do them, not everything has to be a mandate from the state for a school to adopt it. Some need to realize how school systems work and do not work. Some schools have mandated community service hours to graduate and that is not mandated by the state so moneyball your opinion on the matter is just your opinion. If the Curriculum Director states she wants to make it voluntary and the school board wants to make it voluntary and the Superintend wants to make it voluntary, why isn't it voluntary already? They can adopt it but it is not a requirement by the state for graduation and they cannot force a student to take it if the state of Ohio sets the guidelines for graduation and they pass all those guidelines.

What an absolute mess. Just read this 4 page train wreck of a thread. Willard you must be so proud of yourselves. I guess for an outsider looking in I gotta say bravo. Here we have a kid who QUIT!!! Because he CHOSE not to do what was assigned to him. Nothing to do with all this bull that you douche canoes are streaming. You can whine all you want about the ax you have but fact is it was the kids choice to be a bonehead and not do what is required. Show up,show out and show initiative plane and simple. All this other crap has NOTHING to do with this young man's choice he made. It only chicken teriyaki excuses by you all to deflect that a kid did not do what is simply required. 90% of his class has this project done with so it's on him. Oh and maybe take more than bare credits to be eligible for the semester would be a start too. I'm not so sure he did quit? If he isn't at practice or games doesn't mean he quit. I think that is speculation.

It was no surprise all students a afforded the same responsibility to do their work. Plain and simple. The other crap is excuses and whining. Boo hoo I have little sympathy for a kid who chooses not to do what is required wether they agree with it or not.

It's simple you do what is required first and foremost then there would not be a problem either earlier or now in either situation. Plain and simple the kids doing what they are SUPPOSED TO DO don't have a problem. Only these boneheads that think they can just sluff by and not take care of what they are SUPPOSED to be. Both times the kid was wrong. This time around the kid ran out of chances.

I also agree that there are many rumors and facts surrounding this issue. All I know is that in the first case the kid got to play with a failing grade, so who gets grief for that the kid the parents who didn't hold their kid accountable or the superintendent who intervened...I agree with the teacher...if they say no with a validated reason then its no...this is explained to every parent in a sports meeting...if it were my kid he or she would not be playing..making a statement that if you don't try you don't play...real life after high school would not give a crap what you cry about ..a rule is a rule !

so what you are saying Willard has higher standards such as allowing coaches to publicly deface kids, grab kids by their shirts, chase refs into locker rooms and harass...etc etc....are those ok standards in your book? maybe we should stop overlooking the problems and start holding coaches kids parents and administration accountable...it starts from the top and filters to the bottom..why should kids behave when their "mentors" are not ? Time and time again, I hear this term "verbal abuse" thrown around by these busybody helicopter parents. It's yelling, and it wouldn't need to be done if your kid would listen the first time around. Same with "grabbing kids by their shirts." Join the golf team, for chrissakes. this is the most appalling statement I have ever read on this forum..u stated you coached kids....you seem to believe that calling kids names is necessary because they don't "listen" the first time around and you also think that "grabbing kids by their shirts" is appropriate...OUTRAGEOUS....let me find out who you are because if you believe this is appropriate , I can promise this as a taxpayer and a concerned citizen if my grandchildren are EVER treated in this manner you will answer to the ODE...calling me names on this site is inappropriate and speaks highly of your demeanor.

Your little grand-goons call their friends and their enemies these names everyday. You possess the critical thinking skills of a lobotomized baboon.

Goodness, I don’t check this site for a few hours and it’s all gone to hell. Wyandot has gone off the rails, making up lots of things on here and comprehending what people are saying.
Like bigox said earlier, what a disaster this has turned into for Willard. I can’t imagine what the admin and coaches at Willard think if they read this. I truly feel bad for them and the kids.
And by the way, regarding the name calling, I really find it hard to believe coaches are calling kids those names, especially the N word. If that were the case I’m sure we would have heard about that one.

What in the hell is that supposed to be about, anyway? Oh, I see, you think "we," meaning the collective of educators, coaches, and educator-coaches, somehow means I must be a coach. If you hadn't invaded this forum to post bullshit and pick fights, you might have been able to learn something, in particular where I'm coming from. I can't take time out to introduce myself and worldview to every new arrival, and it's especially difficult when said newbie is spouting nonsense and looking for a fight.

We're actually not offended, just exasperated at having to explain to you again and again why your victimhood case holds no water, only to have you respond by going off into centerfield accusing the schools of some grand conspiracy against you, especially since you've betrayed yourself as coming from a place of ignorance on many points made here. We essentially gave you free advice and intel from places of knowledge and experience, and you thanked us by throwing back in our faces that which you didn't just ignore. Did you come here and expect unquestioning support? Did you find it? Your smear tactics and victimhood are nothing new to us here. It's tiring.

Moneyball, I'm just curious. I have always thought a persons personnel and discipline file is suppose to be conferential. The only ones that are allowed to see them are the principle, supers, and BoE. Did something change that allows everybody to look at it or what. Depending on what the issue is, it can be locked from the public. Thank You moneyball for the information.

Well first of all if you know the 8th grade Coach he is also our varsity football coach and he is a professor at ONU. He did not want to coach but guess what we don't have anyone else to do it because no one wants too so he did it as a favor to joe telling him going into it guess what soemdays he has late class at college and would be late. This was established before the season even started. I would love to sit down and have a chat with you about what's really going on in the Willard school district because obviously you are naive enough to believe everything your son tells you that these kids tell him you obviously have zero clue and must be a friend of the coaches...he sits on a chair with a piece of paper that tells him at what time frame to sub a kid in..no matter what the score is...only if beddingfield is in the gym does the coach stand..he rarely even speaks during the game...parents in the stands are guiding the team more than him. ONU can have him.and as far as people not wanting to do it your wrong there as well...they said that about the high school and why they kept long...as soon as they got rid of long 100 people applied...point is no one wants to coach with or under some of these people , now whose uniformed
