Clear Fork's 2nd win over Ontario in the past 16 seasons.
Ontario played so ugly they made Clear Fork play ugly too. I knew Ontario had a bunch of turnovers, but Clear Fork had 1 more 20-19. Most of Ontario's were their typical bad decisions. Most of Clear Fork's were things I'm sure they usually get away with due to the quality of officials around here. When I saw Treg Lee(former Ohio State great) and his crew out of Columbus. I knew the game would be well officiated. Clear Fork had several hooking calls on drives and shuffling of feet traveling calls, that normally wouldn't be noticed. And their PG has a bad habit of holding his off hand right next to the ball being dribbled with the other hand. A safety valve so to say. If he starts to lose control of his dribble a little, that off hand is right there to touch it slightly to maintain control. Difficult to see, he got caught once, but it was done several times.
Ontario 3-point shooting was worse than their usual bad, 1 out of 9.
Clear Fork had Ontario down by 11 a couple of times, but couldn't put them away.
Barnett had 20 even though he had to sit more than usual with some foul trouble, defending Ontario's 6-7 Jones. Have to give him credit, his 3 previous years as a starter his game was perimeter oriented shooting a lot of 3-pointers. Being their tallest player he's turned himself into a good 6-3 post player for his TEAM.
Ontario Freshman PG Griffin Shaver led Ontario in scoring again.
With a little basketball smarts Ontario could have won in regulation. They were up by 1, Clear Fork was pressing and scrambling to foul, Ontario was rotating the ball to keep from getting fouled. A player under the basket caught a pass and attempted a shot that was blocked from behind with about 25 seconds on the clock and Clear Fork gained possession. Instead of shooting, he should have passed it back out front continuing to play keep away until someone was fouled, in the double bonus.
As Balogh said after the game. In all but one of their games Ontario has been in position to win the games they've lost if they made a play or 2 down the stretch. His teams will usually do that, but not this group.
Clear Fork won the JV game 52-51, Ontario the Freshman game 38-27.

NU loses by 17. The only thing that had a sense of offense was throwing up garbage shots for put backs. With all of the griping, I was expecting an early second half technical call that never came. Nothing surprised me tonight, heard a lot of chatter afterwards about what people will need to expect more of the same for at least two more years.
