From what I've been hearing it sounds like Galion plans to keep their current coach. Pretty disappointing but not surprising. From what I have been hearing it sounds like the coach may be wondering who will be on the roster for him to coach. His son will be a freshman next year.

I was hearing about returning players. They had 8 full time Varsity players last year. 3 graduated, 1 transferred. If Alsip stays they will have 4 returning players. They had 8 or 9 players on the Jv team last year, 2 were juniors. Are you just talking about what's been discussed on this thread or have you heard something else?

The talk on here. 3 grads and 1 moved. If another leaves that means 1 returning starter and the coaches son is guaranteed a starting place.

Alsip is the kid I was talking about. He has been telling teammates he's going to transfer to either Ontario or St. Petes. It would obviously be a very big loss if it happens. Did some checking. The only day you can Open Enroll to Ontario is March 1st and you better be there early in the morning. So it sounds like Ontario is out and St.Petes is in. Unless his family "moves".

You prove how little you know about Ontario schools March 1 is the first day Open Enrollment applications are taken by the Ontario school district. Parents line up at the district office before day break in hopes of getting in on March 1. Not everyone who lines up gets in, they have a maximum they can take every year. After the first year they participated in Open Enrollment, when the took a bunch of students, not everyone who lines up on the first day got their kids in. THUS, if you don't apply EARLY on THE first day March 1, you don't get you kids into Ontario using Open Enrollment.

Do you guys mean April 1st? Open enrollment for Ontario started March 1 Yes, they begin taking papers on March first for the following year but it is not a one day process. It starts on March 1 and it goes until the end of the school year.

Ohio's Open Enrollment Program mandates that no preference can be given to applicants. Ontario, as do other schools, give approval by sequence of application. First come first serve after current Open Enrollment students reapply. They get more than enough new applications to fill open slots, before the first day is over. Thus no one gets a new Open Enrollment application approved other than those EARLY on the first day for applications, March 1. You can apply all you want after March 1, but you aren't getting in.

You want us to believe that every kid who has open enrolled to Ontario has signed up on the first day they take applications every year. And if they want to take 15 kids it is the first 15 who applied? You have been lied to. There is no approval on the first day. Carmichael does not know how many she will accept until School is out for the summer and classroom numbers are made.

You can believe anything you want, but this is what I KNOW for certain. . On March 1 the District has a very good idea how many openings they have in each grade. Applications for those openings are approved based on the order the application was submitted for each grade. More than enough applications are taken on March 1. They know how many teachers they have, they know how many class rooms they have, they know how many students that have moved out and moved in since the beginning of the year. They know how many students they have in each grade on March 1. At the end of the day on March 1 they know how many Open Enrollment students reapply. Each year the District takes the few students needed in each grade to fill every classroom. There are very few openings except for K and 1st grade. The other grades were filled to a max the year before. On March 1 there are MORE than enough applications taken to handle those few changes and openings. OBVIOUSLY families aren't told on March 1 whether their application has been approved or not, there can be last minute changes. Such as a last minute tuition student takes preference. Move ins before the next school year starts get preference over Open Enrollment students, but they ARE told by the end of May. But AGAIN, enough applications are taken on March 1.
This isn't like the first year of Open Enrollment at Ontario, when they had MANY openings and took MANY students that first and second year.
MORE THAN ENOUGH APPLICATIONS ARE TAKEN ON THE FIRST DAY FOR ALL OPENINGS IN ALL GRADES. Believe it or not, on March 1 there are dozens of families lined up at the door before it opens to take applications. As I said before, you can apply after March 1, but you won't get in, they already have MORE than enough applications. Why do you think they line up early in the morning before the door opens?? I know families who didn't get their kid/kids in the first AND second year they tried, because they didn't get there early enough on March 1.

Regardless if the schools have open enrollment or not, the talk on the street is that some MOAC kids are looking to maybe make a change.

They line up because it's first come first served. They accept by order of app.

Can we accept most open enrollment schools are that way and move on. The difference is the cap. Could you imagine the line at CC if they limited the number approved.

Ok so your telling us that even the Houle kid went though this process and waited in line? Come on now don't even try to spin that one on us. He did not decide to come back here until June of last year how did that happen then. Seems like a some smoke and mirror crap.ππ

He didn't get in. They learned their lesson and got there before the door opened the next year.

So he may have been given a little break in the first day enrollment limit.

The MOAC should be very competitive next season...many teams have a lot of the bulk of their team back. Pleasant, Ontario, Buckeye Valley, Clear Fork, and even River Valley and Galion have a lot of guys back. Iβm looking forward to watching some good games.

One of his grandparents(who he lives with) DID call Balogh, after his 8th grade season. He/she told Balogh they would Open Enroll him to Ontario if Balogh would promise he would be on the varsity as a Freshman. Balogh never answered the question. He said it was against OHSAA rules for him to even talk to them about it. He told them he couldn't talk to them or Logan until after he was enrolled at Ontario, not before. He then went to Ontario's AD, which is required by the OHSAA in such a situation, told him about the phone call. They documented what was said and put it on file. The grandparents then made a huge mistake. They talked to Oak Hill Academy, who promised them for $36,000 he would be on their "Red Varsity". He attended Oak Hill his Freshman year, then he came to Ontario. A transfer from an out of state private school to an Ohio public school.

I expect Harding to be a little better, more experience. Donβt lose much that will affect them. Browley and Fraker arenβt big losses as browley couldnβt contribute much this year. Had a good jv team. I look for them to be in the middle to bottom.

I don't know the records of MOAC JV teams this year, but Harding's was as good as any I saw.

I think Hardings JV was 1st or second best moac record. Not sure how many will play up next year. Depends on the offseason they have. Jacob Malone was there best player usually, a sophomore. Played some varsity minutes.

With so many teams having freshman and sophomores on varsity today, the level of play from the JV is less of a factor.
