Like I said before, when BVs 8th grade class from last yr mixes with the upperclassman they have they will be good. Played well from what I hear the past 2 days. They'll learn each other's games this yr and be competitive. Should be real good in 2 yrs. Will they be in the MOAC when that happens? 18-19 is BV's last season in the MOAC

So when they are predicted to be really good in 2 years they will be playing in a different league.

Yes this is BVs last yr in MOAC. They will be alright this yr. I think 2 freshman start and another plays good minutes. Their young so will have some struggles. I see 3 Jrs and 2 freshman starting unless they want to bring Thompson of the bench for a spark. BV has Open Gym with RV and Highland today

Gates, Did you attend the open gym? What was your impression of the 3 teams? I as well think BV will be competitive this year, but be a real handful a few years from now

Weren't they young last season? Dude they were young with 3 soph starting last yr. but with this freshman class coming in and 3-4 will get mixed in with those now juniors and 2 seniors, it may take time.

BG, yes I went last night. I think both RV and Highland will be better this yr. RVs guards shoot it pretty well and have Kenny inside. BV won all but one of the qtrs. I forgot Luke was still there so think they will start 1 freshman, 3 juniors and a senior, with 2-3 talented freshman on bench. They are at OU Friday

Galion played at the Findlay camp last week and went 5-4. They played D3 and D4 schools and one D2 B team. They went to this camp last year, almost same record I think.
Shelby played at the Findlay camp earlier this week and went 9-0 and won the tournament. They played mostly D2 and D3 teams, 2 D1 teams.

F.U. runs more than one team camp and some are stronger than others. Is going 5-4 in a strong camp better then 9-0 in a weak one? I think so.

Although that would be amazing. And your point is correct about the competition. A quick check of Findlay's website shows the teams that they played and how they did. GT 1975 pointed out the competition levels pretty well. Findlay isn't usually the most elite camp but it's big, so I believe there are multiple levels of competition that teams can choose from (like "upper" and "lower" varsity). It's summer and teams are missing players/not practiced/not prepped for game situations. But still, Shelby beat Northmor 49-14 and won the varsity "Gold" tournament by 12 over Big Walnut. That's a positive sign for them! Only played two close games too. Galion's games at the Findlay camp were all close, which is good for experience. They played teams ranging from bad D1 to good D4. Not sure what level they chose because the tournament results were never posted from their camp, but playing 9 close games couldn't hurt.

Slight play on the college name was for fun. Some bigger schools include jv teams in the varsity schedules at camps. Northmor graduated most of what they had last year Big Walnut was under 500. That is why I think the focus is on competition and not wins.

At this camp you rate yourself a high, medium or lower level and then you are scheduled to play team of a similar rating. Some better programs will place their jv team in the varsity schedule and tag them as a B team. So with them playing smaller schools and a B team, you may be indicating that Galion rated themselves at a low level and went 5-4.

Looking at the teams that Shelby played, I wouldn't suggest any of them are world beaters. They beat Wayne Trace and Versailles, two teams that have had recent success, but only on a D3/D4 level. They did beat Norwalk.
Listen, I have found Shelby to be in worse situations than going 9-0 coming out of Findlay camp. It certainly isn't a bad sign.

Plus, being independent means nothing when the league you left gives you a full schedule to play. You may not go down in the record books but the records will still show you played a full SBC schedule. This was simply a power-play by he SBC principals.

Believe me, my typing of InDePeNdEnT is a representation of how much of a farce I view the Council of Elders over at the SBC.

NO, the SBC record books will show that the schools that play Shelby this year played them as non-league games. I wouldn't put it past the SBC elite to wipe Shelby out of their records books once they're completely gone. 20 years from now do you really think they'll count Shelby's Final Four in football in the league's total?

I think what he is saying is that the SBC record books will not count Shelby but the fact they played a full SBC schedule will show in their record of playing. You are trying to argue but saying the same thing.

Let the SBC wipe out Shelby from the record books. I know from the bottom of my heart that those Port Clinton fans ain't going to forget that 62-0 halftime deficit.

Galion was supposed to go to Riverdale for a shootout yesterday but had to cancel because they could not get enough kids. Also, they had a shootout for Saturday at River Valley and an open gym Sunday at Port Clinton that got canceled. I think the RV and PC events were canceled by the host schools. Hopefully Galion's coach can find some shootouts or open gyms so they don't lose 3 coaching days but there is usually not a lot of options in July. As of now I think Galion has only had 1 event for JV players and that was the June 7 open gym at Ontario. The rest of the events were for Varsity only.

With kids playing other sports in the summer, plus summer jobs and family vacations, it may not be as easy to get 10 days for everyone as you may think.

I just said I hope they can so they don't waste 3 coaching days. I didn't say you said anything. I just said that trying to use 10 days for every level may be difficult. Specially when events are being canceled. Open gyms and scrimmages are free but going to shootouts and camps can be costly and not all families put the financial priority on the same things.

Good basketball programs have funds available for families who can't afford the cost of shootouts or camps.
