Over the past 19 seasons (including this year) the Big Ten has sent a team to the National Championship game an average of once every 2.4 years...however, the last 6 appearances have all been losses. Tonight Michigan has a chance to end that losing streak.
2000: Michigan State - Won over Florida 2002: Indiana - Lost to Maryland 2005: Illinois - Lost to North Carolina 2007: Ohio State - Lost to Florida 2009: Michigan State - Lost to North Carolina 2013: Michigan - Lost to Louisville 2015: Wisconsin - Lost to Duke 2018: Michigan - ??

Villanova played the game as well as it can be played this year. I enjoyed the wolverines late in the tournament. Became a big fan of Mo Wagner. His backup (Tesk?) is a total zero as a basketball player, takes up space and that's about it.

Sportsjock, It sure has been a great year for the Big10. 1st., in football can you imagine 8 out of the 9 teams winning their bowl games. 2nd., Ohio State men's volleyball taking the National Championship. 3rd., Ohio State runners up in the National Wrestling Tournaments and I don't remember how many Big10 teams that was also ranked in the tournament. Now we have 3 out of 4 teams playing in the National Hockey Tournament. In the first game tonight #1 Ohio State takes on #2 Minnesota-Duluth, then #1 Notre Dame vs. #2 Michigan. ND is in the Big10 for hockey. I like to see Michigan play Ohio State for the championship with Michigan winning the title naturally. Oh I forgot to say this, Hail to the Victors,

Although I pulled for M to win it in BB, that's where it ends, God strike me dead if I ever uttered: 'Hail to the Victors'......it ain't happening.

I can understand that Sportsjock, when my son was playing for St. Paul's they would play that team down below me, I don't want to insult the South by saying that team down s., but anyway St. Paul's would play their fight song as theirs. I would stand but I would not clap or sing to that song. I also have some bad news. Both Michigan and that O team lost last night in the semi's. Michigan lost to Notre Dame with 2 seconds left in the game 4-3. O... lost to Minnesota-Duluth 2-1. We better hope Notre Dame wins the championship for the BIG10. The game will be played Saturday at 7:30pm. and I believe it's on ESPN. That should be a good game to watch, nothing like U of M against OSU, or ND, these 3 have a great rivalry against each other. Hockey is becoming more and more popular here in the area and I'm liking it. I wish we had more hockey teams in high school here. I think Bowling Green and Findlay High Schools might be the closest to me to watch. See you later sports.

Sportsjock, I guess it wasn't meant to be, but Minnesota-Duluth beat Notre Dame 2-1 in a very hard fought game. In the first period a Notre Dame freshman who is 6'-4" #240 skater comes flying in fast and took out a UMD player like a linebacker taking out a receiver in football. It was that way all night but it was a good clean game all night, almost no penalty's at least no major ones. At least Notre Dame took 2nd. and Michigan and Ohio State where 3rd. and 4th. Nice going BIG10. Sports look at what we can look forward to next year. We got to get to a game or two next year. Maybe we can go to OSU at U of M game in Ann Arbor and if you are driving and my Michigan team wins you could take off and leave me there. ROFL

Much like football & basketball, I much prefer the college game over the overpaid, over-hyped pro game. Collegiate hockey is growing in popularity and the Big Ten Conference sets the standard.

I am much like you are. I would always go to see a college, high, jr. hi, and even a elementary game over a pro game any day. There is nothing like a kid giving it his all on the field, court, or rink because the love of the game. Those are the kind of kids I loved coaching and teaching the game to. Hockey is even growing to some of the collages down south. Lacrosse is another sport that is growing fast among high schools and D-3 collages. Kids have more sports now than when you and I did when we were young. I am glad of that so we can get these kids out more than playing those silly tv games.

I just watched the Women's College Wrestling Championships on FCSP (Florida College Sports) The Women's Wrestling finals were held on the campus of the U. of Northern Iowa (Cedar Falls/Waterloo) There were several 2 and 3 time All-American wrestlers and these gals were very technically advanced in the knowledge of the sport, very impressive. One gal was the first girl to reach the Iowa State Wrestling Finals against boys in the 105 lb. class. Girls and women wrestling has grown by leaps and bounds the past 5 years. Texas and Iowa are fertile ground for this rising sport and California is the national benchmark for high schools and colleges contemplating it's introduction.

Sports, Everything is coming by leaps and bounds. I can remember both of my boys were in biddy wrestling, oh about 15 to 20 years ago and some girls join the tournament a few times. I'm glad for the change and letting them to start joining what was usually meant for boys and men but it was funning that my boys came up to their mother and me and asking how do they wrestle against a girls since we taught them that there was certain things and area's you don't do or touch on a young lady. I just couldn't help but laugh so hard everyone around us was thinking that I was a mad man. After I settle down I just told them to wrestle them like they where guys. Anyway it still is nice that women are doing things and sometimes even better than what a man can do. I used to play co-ed softball and I was always the catcher, my teammates said they put me back there cause I am always talking and disrupting the batters and when the lady's came to bat I would start singing to them. I still can't keep my mouth shut as you can see. It sure is nice to see that women's sports has finally coming around and being recognized. I still remember the girls only had GAA in school for them. Funny thing that happen with that, my senior year one night the girls GAA was allowed to play flagged football one the varsity field under the lights, well we, the senior football players, thought that we should do something for them since they always came to cheer us on, so we decided to, the senior players, dress up like cheerleaders and went out there to cheer them on. Some of us had some nice looking legs back then. Well, got to go, watching some of those baseball brawls from the week. Boys will be boys. See ya sports.

Did UM hammer Villanova last night? I was in hospital, so sometimes my mental capacity isn't the greatest, haha
