No they don't, but you could say the program does in of its self.

It is not recruiting if you see a very successful program with good facilities and good coaches and kids are having success, that is called making the most of an opportunity. Open enrollment shifted over $360 million dollars across Ohio last year for reasons of better schools, facilities, education, the arts and athletics. If you see a school having kids open enroll there in mass numbers, if I were a school losing these kids I would find out what the school that is getting them is doing, and copy it.

It just needed to be quoted!

Schools are losing wrestlers to Edison because the Barn and Burnett Training. They start them young and eventually kids transfer there before they get into junior high or high school. Not technically recruiting, but when kids move from different school districts it’s pretty obvious

Not technically recruiting, but when kids move from different school districts it’s pretty obvious I do not see any point to what you said. The coaches for Btw are the head coaches for Elyria and Perrysburg. But they are recruiting for Edison according to you and that it is obvious. The two have nothing to do with one another. Let me tell you what Edison does have. A coach that is committed and a community that backs wrestling along with the schools administration. They are building an awesome wrestling room this year from private donors. Their schedule is top notch with some of the states best tournaments to have kids ready for state. They have plenty of like minded kids in the room there to work hard and push one another. That will bring in kids to a program when the average school is less concerned and treats wrestling as a second class sport. That will bring in any wrestler to a program. That is what is obvious!

Willard has done a nice job of supplying Edison with quality wrestlers, and I hear they have a few more on the way.

I can't understand why CB isn't used for Wrestling. The OHSAA says it isn't a "team sport". Yet they award State Championship TEAM Title trophies for all Divisions in TWO different State Tournaments. No other sport gets that. The only thing that makes any sense is St. Paris Graham has connections and doesn't want to wrestle in a higher Division.

I personally think most A.D.s and administration just don't care about it (wrestling). It is definitely a team sport when it comes to the dual state tournament. This was just a fix for not separating public and private schools. I feel the complaints on that were generated around football. Other team sports were mostly collateral damage. But your right except st. Paris Graham did get offered to go up to D1 for dual state and did and beat st. Eds in the finals.

Wow and I thought SMCC was the only school that recruited, well from 2000-2004 that is.
I think you just have a great crop of kids, and if they are willing to transfer or move to that school district, I think it speaks volumes for the type of program they have going on.
Why would you want to wrestle at some crappy school, when you can go to another and wrestler better competition both in practice and on the mat?? Also isn't the goal for most highschool kids to play at the next level..

Interestingly, the OHSAA doesn't consider wrestling a "team" sport. Thus it isn't affected by a Competitive Balance Formula, even though it is possible for a wrestling TEAM to win TWO State Team Championship Trophies in the same season.

everyone that has great success is accused or thought of as recruiting.. We have that for volleyball.. get asked a lot how many of those kids moved to huron? none currently,,but yes it has happened several times.. each and every had their reason(s) for doing so. we didnt ever need to say a word to them.. they know the program, they know the coach and how he coaches....thats all it takes.. edison does the exact same.. kids see it..they're not stupid..
