A lot can be said about a lot of teams in the next 3 weeks. Is Harding as good as they have looked (yet still lost)? Is NU real coming into league play 3-0? Is Galion as bad as the last 2 weeks have shown? Will Fairbanks shock some people? etc. There is a lot that will be sorted out by the time we get 3 weeks of league play in.
The Blue seems to be just as question filled.

We find out how good Pleasant is the next 3 weeks @ Jonathan Alder River Valley @ North Union The chance of Pleasant winning one of these games is about as good as John Hoynes making a political comeback... Arnie Vinnick has a better chance of winning. JA --- OUCH RV ---- ball game but loss NU --- ball game but loss In three weeks pleasant is 3-3

Unless Clearfork (34-0 in 2 quarters on a Mike Carrol run D) and Wynford are completely over rated I think they are better than last year. Honestly though with playing 2 teams that are horrid and one team that no one knows (best case a .500 team) about its hard to gauge what they really are. I would take a bet that there is 1 win of the 3. Good news is that is why they play the games.

Fairbanks seemed to spark us last year should be the same this year... that Pleasant game will tell alot how they really are depending how they play Alder should be a great game. Galion will be missing a lot of players again. I'm betting..if not..not even close to 100%. It's going to be a tough game for us...Buckeye Valley. I'm still hoping for the best. When we have everyone healthy, we are an average team. Missing like 3 key players...we...... you fill in the blank. LOL

Hardingman I was not making light of Harding. They have done well and have been very competitive and people should take notice.
I don't know what Pleasant will do vs JA have not seen them play but they teams they have played are traditionally good teams so it will be a challenge. Kind of excited to see the Pugh (sp?) kid play its not often that the MOAC has a player that is a scholarship athlete for a D1 School much less a big 10 school.

We all would like to see Pugh get the opportunity to play with a significant role in the game plan. We utilized his talent and skill sets well in our first game against Marysville. Since then, not so much.. He is Legit. We will see how the game against Pleasant goes..

Chad Carpenter is an outstanding high school football coach and Highland an excellent high school football program. Wondering when the last time they started a year 0-3 was? Can't imagine they're winless for long!

That said I don't see Highland making it 4 straight. East Knox has been down as long as they have been in the league I don't know about their past though.

Third year in a row they have started 0-3. That's a backfire, now isn't it. They won the MOAC Blue last year after that start and could do it again.

Pretty much every since league expansion Highland has been a division 4 school in the blue division full of div. 5 Mount Gilead and the rest of the schools being div. 6. (Some criticize Highland for this accusing them of wanting to be a big fish in a small pond, however, if they left the blue they would be leaving 50 year rivalries with the other Morrow county schools, and their main rival in Fredericktown) For any playoff prayer at all they have really been trying to stack that non league schedule of theirs it appears. This has included div 2 Mount Vernon, Loudonville when they were having pretty impressive teams, Heath, Bloom-Carroll, and River Valley. Unfortunately for the Scots, it is true their last non league win would have been in 2013 when they went 7-3. 2014 they started 0-3 and went 5-2 in their next 7, last year they started 0-3 and went 6-1 in the following 7 games. I would agree with presnapreads statement that Carpenter does a decent job showing how they seem to finish a lot stronger then they start. I would imagine Highland takes the next two Fridays for wins as they play East Knox and then they play Elgin. Week 6 it looks like they play Cenerburg, I think that week will give us a lot more of a realistic look at how Highland is.

The Blue seems to be just as question filled. 1.) I think so. I think if nothing else they are certainly improved from last season, and they certainly were not bad last season. 2.) The win over Grandview looks awefully impressive. I'm very intrigued by the RV/NU matchup this Friday. 3.) I'm worried Fairbanks may be their only league play win if I had to make a guess right now. JA, NU, RV, Harding, BV, and Pleasant all appear to be not too bad at the moment. They are a combined 12-6. The six losses being Johnstown, Hayes, Madison, Mount Vernon, Lima, and Newark. No offense to Galion, but I feel like any of these 6 could have their way with Keystone 4.) I'm going to have to guess not.

I know a bit more information than most of you guys know the Galion. Galion is trouble. They will struggle to win another game, not saying we can't..but it's going to be very hard for us to. It's too bad too, because I thought we would have a decent team. I still like our boys, a good group of boys. Plus I love Galion football. Great community for high school football.

NU is off to a great start but we need to keep our guys healthy. We are missing a couple due to injuries. Some of the other guys did a great job when they had to step up last Friday. We are coached very well. Excited to see what they can do against RV even though they are missing those guys. MOAC should be a lot of fun this year.

STAN THE MAN - Perhaps a topic for another time, but whether it's Highland wishing to maintain it's rivalries or wanting to remain a big fish in a small pond ..... Nothing against the Centerburg's and Fredericktown's of the world but when the "powers that be" expanded the MOAC years ago which resulted in the split and eventual division of the conference (Thanks Mike Hoyng in your conference leadership in thinking only of Highland and ignoring everyone else) they massively screwed up. They, hoping to change to improve, ended up destroying a nice 10 team conference. Organized, purposeful, well-thought out change is often good. This was anything but, and it's a crying shame. Next two weeks Highland will get it to 2-3 and then anything can happen as their players gain experience and confidence.

Understand, respect the correlation, AND if I might add, an excellent point. Sorry about opening that "Can" - I just loved that old conference, think it was excellent and while I respect Mike Hoyng as a hoops coach and Highland AD I don't respect the leadership he attempted to "provide" in the old MOAC. Don't have a handy Thesauraus, escapes me right now, but trying very, very hard to find a polite, mannerly, tactful synonym for the word douchebag.

I was kidding anyways, I'm just usually the guy that always opens that "can" lol I miss the old conference in every sport except for football. When it comes to football I like every team getting three non league games instead of just the one.

Sometime an Athletic Director who coaches can make choices that may seem to help them immediately but hurt them in the long run. In this case it cost him both jobs.

Scooter - excellent point.
STAN the Man - back in 2004 or 2005 an AD proposed to the entire conference that in football teams had to play everyone in their respective division (4) games plus 3 mandatory cross over games (total of 7) which would have allowed EVERYONE in the conference to then go out and seek 3 out of (or if they so desired, in) conference opponents. It was proposed, seconded (so 2 AD's in favor of it) but when it came to a vote it was defeated 9-1. AD's didn't want to do it, only made sense the coaches would have wanted it.
Oh well.
