Highland has turf installed. I hear Harding will have it in the next 2 years. I have not heard anything else about other schools getting it.

There has been "talk" about getting Turf at Alder for some time now... It's always "going to be next year".. Who know's.

Guys can we let this go already... 2 years and 2 different boards and we are still talking about this. Can we focus on match ups or anything other than GT. Amen, I'll second the motion. Let's move on.

Anybody have thoughts on the North Union vs Elgin game? Not a league game, but the only MOAC on MOAC game this week. Elgin started off at probably their strongest point in the whole season last year and struggled more and more as the year went on. North Union seemed to be hot and cold. I've got North Union 35-7

I'd guess you're probably fairly close with that prediction. I just don't see the Comets competing with NU right now.

I heard there may be added incentive for NU this game in that one of their guys transferred to Elgin. That's all I heard.

Feed that crap to somebody that doesn't know better. Since your move had nothing to do with Hawkins and was completely above board please explain to me how you and Hawkins managed to get our ENTIRE athletic dept put on probation by the OHSAA. Hawkins stint here at Galion was beset with, how should I put this, a number of recruiting allegations and some sketchy transfers to say the least. So for you to say that Hawkins had nothing to do with your being here is akin to you trying to sell me the Brooklyn Bridge. You see I'm not some naive resident with orange and blue colored glasses. I know where the bodies are buried around here. I also know that why we "self reported" what we did. Because if the whole truth came out your son, who in my opinion is an innocent victim in all of this and that is ABSOLUTELY NOT meant to be sarcastic, would have never been eligible last season and Hawkins would have never coached another down of football here and most likely would still be unemployed. You see, I know you're not stupid. Your sons played at Crestline so if you wanted to prove your son could compete I know that you know where Wynford is. Being from Wooster and doing even a little homework on who does the best job at developing qb's in the area I'm certain you know where Ashland is as well. But I'm just guessing that neither of those 2 teams agreed to anoint your son the starter as soon as he walked through the door (but I'm sure that conversation with Hawkins never happened before you made your decision to come to Galion SARCASM INTENDED). I never said anything about how and what Coach Hawkins knew. I said "you will never know..." Galion got put on probation, ok we still went to the playoffs last year. It still counted. OHSAA said don't loan helmets to kids anymore. Roger that! OHSAA said don't send out camp invites to kid's not on your roster yet. Ok roger that..won't happen again. Probation don't matter, because it won't happen again. Everyone took their punishment, and we made the best of it. We got exactly what we wanted. We got our chance in the playoff. AND from what I know, (maybe not the final score) but it was the closest playoff game Galion had in awhile. We were tied in the 3rd quarter. We got our shot. We just failed to get the job done. It still felt awesome. Knowing the kids bonded well with my son, and they made a great run. I'm so proud of them. But if you want to know a little bit more of the story...I tried to pull both my son's (Codi and Chase) over to Galion a year before Chase coming over. Codi was going into his senior year at Crestline. He did not want to leave Crestline. I honored that, and told Chase, "if next year you want to go over there, I'll make the move, and we will do this together." I spoke to Chase about 3 schools to move to: Galion, Wooster and Triway. Chase hates Wynford (probably because of the whopping they put on us every year). He didn't like Colonel Crawford either. A school, my 2 youngest go to now. My ex still lives in Crestline, and she moved them the same year I moved Chase. I wasn't going to make him go to school he didn't want to. I pushed Galion, because the school is only like 4 miles from their house, so I knew if he missed his brothers and sisters; he could go home and see them easily. I didn't know Chris Hawkins from "adams"..only that he seemed like a nice guy from the meeting a year earlier. We went and watched their playoff game that year against Tri-way, and I saw a team who needed a throwing quarterback. I knew it would be a perfect fit for Chase. I didn't look at who would develop Chase. If that was true I would have "made" Chase go to Triway; a school that sends all their receivers out and passes on every play. Why go to Galion, a team, at the time who loves to run a lot and throw little side-line passes almost every play? I wanted a school Chase wanted to play for and was close to mom's home in Crestline. Plus, I was confident in Chase's ability. I just wanted to give him a chance with a good team. A team where when he hiked the ball; he didn't have to run for his life. Kind of like what he has to do this year now. haha! I was worried that we were going to get a half year suspension. I even thought about moving back to Crestline "if" the OHSAA did come back with a 1/2 year suspension. Because i was in the time-frame where I could have done that too, but the lady at OHSAA was fair and applauded her for that. He took his "No scrimmages and one game suspension", and he made the best of it. So pleased with how everything worked out. Coach Hawkins even got his 2-game suspension knocked down to one game. Very..very happy.

You're not the only one sir. BV should be strong. Very excited about this season; if they stay healthy they could make the post season (battle cry of any optimistic supporter). Need a solid performance against Hayes to get the ball rolling, looks like a game they could have a shot at. Losing away week one last year was a hard pill to swallow and I'm sure they haven't forgotten. Sending good vibes to whoever plays Galion because of the nonstop "my son the QB" banter (he's a descent QB and I'm sure he is a great kid, I'm just tired of reading the same stuff in different words everyday for the past two seasons) and wishful for marysville because who doesn't like to see JA lose openers? Go Barons! Realistically you do want league opponents to win non-league for playoff point purposes, but I kind of like the mindset behind this guys post here. No love for conference opponents. I'm pretty neutral with the MOAC, love football, so just soak in the action. College football though I cheer for the Buckeyes and when it's time for bowl season no I do not support the rest of the Big 10. I want to see Michigan lose, I want to see Michigan State lose, Penn State lose, Wisconsin, etc. So even though it would help BV out if Galion and JA win their non league games, I get where your coming from. All league members should always want other league members to win ooc games. Their wins are a huge part of garnering Harbin Points

Let me correct you. Galion is hardly a storied program in terms of winning like say a JA or a Pleasant although we do have among the longest histories in the state if that counts for anything. We do have 1 state title in 85 but I believe that season also accounts for our only playoff victories in school history as well. Recently we have had some successes but as much of that can be attributed to our schedule as our talent. Our playoff results kind of speak for themselves. If it helps there is a block feature on here so you don't even have to see his posts. There was a long dry spell between Lee Owens and Chris Hawkins.

So how will the Wildcats do this year? It depends on which team will show up....they are a younger team, maybe 7 or 8 seniors, but most of the skilled players are returning but they will miss Hammons for sure. They need to stay healthy, can't afford to have anyone hurt with only 45 on the team.

Well I left at halftime, it was 34-7 Shelby. Brennan Armstrong looked like a beast. He missed a couple of passes, but he threw some excellent touchdown passes. Man, he is a damn good runner..The first touchdown run he ran over a guy at the goal line. Then the next touchdown had about a 22 yard run. Madison matched them starting the game out with a nice touchdown pass. But what killed them was fumbling at the 13 yard line. Then on 4th and 9 (down 21-7) they had stopped Shelby but had too many players on the field. The penalty cost them getting the ball back and gave Shelby a first down, which they scored 2 more touchdowns with in 4 minutes right before half. Shelby was just too much. They have some talented players. The Madison quarterback looked good starting the game, but then he just started cracking..missing a few open receivers deep. Madison doesn't have a bad team. They were just over-matched. Games can turn on mistakes. Tonight the game got outreach too soon due to Madison's mistakes. They still would not have beat Shelby. Shelby is just too tough.

I told you. Shelby is one of the 2 or 3 best teams in the area. They will do what they did to us against a lot of people this season, win the NOL, and go 10-0. Sorry Bellevue.

Have not seen a single scrimmage this summer, yes I am pulling these scores out of my you know what for the most part. Pretty much a mixture from history, stuff I've read in forums, and doing my best to remember who has who back from what team. No disrespect intended to teams I've picked to lose, not intending to overrate any teams I may pick to win. Feel free to serve me any crow I may need tonight around 10-11pm. Colonel Crawford over Mount Gilead 49-28 North Union over Elgin 35-7 Danville over East Knox 56-0 Northmor over Crestview 21-7 Centerburg over Utica 35-27 Fredericktown over Clear Fork 42-0 Cardington over Worthington Christian 77-0 (could be at least) Highland over Bloom-Carroll 19-14 Marysville over Jon Alder 28-7 River Valley over Upper Sandusky 35-3 Mount Vernon over Harding 42-35 Pleasant over Shroded 28-0 Galion over Bucyrus 42-14 Haves over Buckeye Valley 21-14 Ben Logan over Fairbanks 42-0

Dave Carroll coaching Clear Fork? If so, no way they lose 42-zip. Mville/JA much closer than 28-7. JA could win. NU/Elgin could be worse, NU loves to run it up. The kid who left NU for Elgin is a youngster .... Little or no impact, this year, in the game.

Yeah! All I'm gonna say is "W-O-W! We looked good." I know who we played, but "WOW!" Never have I seen any indication we could play that good as a team. That was total domination. Blocking, tackling...we have speed in our wide receivers that was totally highlighted tonight. 3 track stars who can move when they catch the ball. We had a 60 yard touchdown called back on holding..a quick flare pass to one of those wide receivers. We have to work on our pass defense though. Bucyrus a few times almost beat us deep with ball, in fact they should have on two of them. The Cardington/Galion will be a good game to watch. I'm betting. Go Tigers!!!!

Post by galion on Aug 26, 2016 21:01:22 GMT -5
I feel good about the result but boy oh boy Bucyrus is a special kind of terrible. Defensively, I saw some things that concerned me that need to be corrected in a hurry with our secondary and our contain. Offensively, we are running essentially the same system so I was kind of hoping that our passing game would be better polished than it was. I was surprised to see how well we ran the ball, but again you have to take it with a grain of salt given the opponent.
