Elgin only had 16 kids dressed and a number of boys dressed in jeans and jerseys, what was going on with that? We heard maybe one injury. Anyways, NU won 49-15.

Cardington vs Galion should be fun!!! Go Pirates! Need to run the ball better and tighten up a few things on D. But all in all not bad.

Harding pulled the seahawks superbowl play out and lost a heart breaker to Mt. Vernon.... 55 seconds left first and goal on the 7 yard line with two timeouts remaining and they try a throw in the endzone which is picked off.... not counting the fact they fumbled twice inside their own 20 once which cost them the go ahead td....

BV beat themselves. Credit to Delaware for not making too many mistakes but this was a game the Barons should've come away with. 3 turnovers inside the Delaware 10 and two of Hayes' touchdown drives kept alive by roughing the passer calls. I'm encouraged going further here that they will compete with everyone on their schedule but they have got to clean up the mistakes. They really need to live up to the idea that you make your most improvement between weeks 1 and 2. There were a lot of kids who haven't played before who saw significant time tonight as expected. They held their own and then some against a more experienced team. What really needs to improve more than anything is their conditioning. BV had way too many kids going down with cramps tonight. So many that I would say it had a significant impact on the game.

I feel good about the result but boy oh boy Bucyrus is a special kind of terrible. Defensively, I saw some things that concerned me that need to be corrected in a hurry with our secondary and our contain. Offensively, we are running essentially the same system so I was kind of hoping that our passing game would be better polished than it was. I was surprised to see how well we ran the ball, but again you have to take it with a grain of salt given the opponent. You are exactly right, I think the passing game will come around. At least I hope so. But honestly our running game was working so well, our passing game wasn't really put into any deep 3rd downs. Plus the starters basically only played 2 quarters. I told my son the real test will be a "full game" against Cardington next week. We will have our hands full with that game, but people better not count us out. We are going to come ready to play and put up some points. You know who I was shocked to see how well he played...Our #33 (shortest guy on the team), linebacker and running back (mostly lead blocker) Kade Dyer. That kids was all over the place..making tackles. I waited until after the game to congratulate him. He had a helluva a game. If we don't fix our coverage, Cardington will exploit it next week. I think this next game is going to be an amazing game against them. I can't wait to watch that game. I said the start of the season I would be happy with a 2-1 record, but now I'm starting to feel 3-0. Go Tigers!!

#33 is one of thew most dedicated and hardest working athletes we have. I wasn't shocked he's earned all of the success he's had.

Cardington and Galion will feature two of the best QBs in the league. Idk anything about Galions receivers but Cardington is deep there with one being an All Ohioan last year. Game might come down to who can have a balanced running game.

Cardington and Galion will feature two of the best QBs in the league. Idk anything about Galions receivers but Cardington is deep there with one being an All Ohioan last year. Game might come down to who can have a balanced running game. Galion has 3 track stars who if they catch the ball on the move...watch out. #7 Tanner Crisman, #11 Harrison Ivy and #19 Caleb Ivy. We didn't effectively throw down the field at all last night. We got to work on that. My son missed a open wide receiver for touchdown early in the first quarter. He's got to be more efficient on plays like that. I don't care that it was Bucyrus, but when you can effectively run the ball, which we did last night it truly opens up all facets of your game. In scrimmages we were a pass..pass..pass team. We still might be that team depending on the opponent. But when you got 2 running backs who can run, a quarterback who can punish you with his scrambling and throw deep on you at any time and three receivers who can flat out fly...you got a decently set up offense. Now I know it was Bucyrus, so I'm trying not to get my hopes up too much, we can do that against Cardington, but even if we can a little, we should at least give ourselves a chance. That's all I'm asking for. What amazed me was how pumped up the kids were after every play and score! That stadium was rocking. The kids have to show a little more discipline though. The student cheering section ran out onto the field after the final second from the far endzone, and our team rushed towards them..celebrating with them. Bucyrus had started to get in a single file line to shake their hands too. I'm was thinking silenty...holy crap..please get in line Galion. Bucyrus almost turned around and left. But our coach handled it perfectly..ran out to them and started screaming at them to get in line. ha! They did..all ended well. It was such a great win, because even I didn't think the outcome would end like that based on the film I saw on Bucyrus AND how we played in the scrimmages. Shocking!!! *** Ooh we got a darn good field goal kicker - Connor Moreton - Bucyrus had an unsportman's-like penalty..so we kicked off from their 45 yard line. He kicked it through the uprights..like deep across it. Also had like 3 or 4 touch-backs. That's pretty good for a high school kicker.

Highland had a chance at the end of the first half to cut the lead to 17-14 but fumbled on Bloom Carroll's 6 yd line with 30 seconds remaining. Came out drove down and scored to start second half to make it 17-14. Teams exchanged scores and with about 6 min left in 4th qtr Highland stuffed Bloom with the score 24-21 to regain possession. They would go 3 and out and Bloom got a late TD to get to the final score. Highland had chances to win that game and came up short. Travel to Heath next week in what should be another good game, hopefully a different outcome.

Pugh (D1 Northwestern Football) and Eisnaugle-QB (D1 Marshall Baseball) are fun to watch. Pugh did whatever he wanted to do on both sides of the ball against Marysville and Eisnaugle had complete command of the offense. Hopefully everyone remains injury free. Expectations are high for this group of young men. Week one was a success. Next week is a new challenge. Good luck to all MOAC Teams as we all prepare for league play.

Speaking of next week for JA playing Zanesville. Newark went from being 0-10 last season to beating Zanesville (who eliminated DeSales in the playoffs) relentlessly 41-0. Anyone happen to know did Newark return absolutely everyone and Zanesville graduate the whole team or what? Due to this I have a really hard time seeing Zanesvillle put up much of a fight against the Pioneers, unless something extremely special is going on in Newark right now.

Pandora-Gilboa They are in the Putnam county League. That is a non football league consisting of mostly Div 7 schools.

Umm they are in the BVC and the Putnam county league. They compete in both. Its like the BVC is their main girlfriend and the Putnam is the side girl.

Babymaker, Pandora-Gilboa as the school district is called, first conference has been the Putnam Co. League and has many arch rivals in that league. They joined the BVC because they needed a football conference, as did Leipsic, so with both schools they considered the PCL as their main girlfriend not the side girlfriend. The PCL is considered one of the basketball conference in the state at div.4 . The schools in the conference are Continental(my dad's high school),Miller City, Leipsic (also in the BVC), Pandora-Gilboa, Columbus Grove (also in the Northwest Conference because of football), Fort Jennings, Ottoville, and Kalida. This conference has been around since the early 1900's.

Thanks! Hope I didn't strike a nerve with the girlfriend analogy. It is pretty rare you hear of teams in 2 leagues (or I am very sheltered).

I would be happy to have the boy from Cardington, Galion, Jon Alder or River Valley as my quarterback. In my honest opinion those are the four best. Not in any particular order yet.

I would be happy to have the boy from Cardington, Galion, Jon Alder or River Valley as my quarterback. In my honest opinion those are the four best. Not in any particular order yet. Out of the 4 mentioned QB's above, only Cardington (McCarrell Sr. 6'0 170) & Jonathan Alder (Eisnaugle Jr. 6'1 190) achieved league honors last year. Both were 2nd Team All MOAC on offense. McCarrell was the only QB listed for last seasons league stats out of the four mentioned above, (115-205 for 2067yrds, Comp% 56.1, TD-INT 24-7)...All are good QB's and have major roles on their respective teams. However, this is a new year.. All QB's throughout the league start with a clean slate and will have the opportunity to showcase their skills. It remains to be seen who will rise to the top of the QB class this season.
