3:30 on BTN
This will be the 5th meeting between these two teams, and Ohio State has won the previous 4 (all in B1G play) by an average score of 54.75 to 6

Someone, who supposedly, 'thinks Rutgers will actually win this Saturday' is remarkably disingenuous. Getting a little claustrophobic in that closet? Living in a fantasy world and Michigan still sucks....lol

After witnessing some embarrassing shortcomings on the defensive side of the ball against Oregon State, think we will see some basic changes in our defensive approach. Having an aggressive, attacking defense can produce some awesome, highlight clips, but also produce some embarrassing lapses. Our defensive front, I would not change a thing, they are going to make life miserable for the opposition this season. They will continue to be in full aggressive mode. I think we will be seeing much less over-agressiveness from the LB's and more resorting to read and react, playing with their brains intact. There were at least four plays where the LB's had committed themselves and the safeties also overplayed themselves, got blocked out of the play, leaving a wide expanse of open realestate. Selecting the correct 'line of pursuit' is the basic core of defense and it was executed poorly in our opening game. The other basic tenant of good defense is 'never assume' your teammate will finish the play, good line of pursuit and layering comes into play. At times there were far too many 'spectators' and few backups. That is not Ohio State football and I think we will see a huge improvement in all these aspects come game #2.

Having urban in practice this week will help as well. Best thing is it’s easier to dial a defense back a little and to read and react better than it is to try and get kids more aggressive. The defense will be just fine and wouldnt be surprised if they pitch a shutout this week. Most all the mistakes were being made because of being to jacked up to make a highlight play.

I'll throw that 1000% of agreement right back at ya. Take note of coach Schiano's demeanor following that game, no rants or finger pointing. There was a confident calmness. He knows it will take some basic adjustments to dramatically change the look of his defense in one short week. A shutout wouldn't come as a surprise.

Haskins Jr. a much better passer than Barrettiv was. And Haskins Jr. is not being damn ball hog, like Barettiv was.

^^^^^ Agree, and that toss from martell was impressive as well! What? That ball was underthrown. If the corner doesn't trip over the invisible line it could have been picked off or most likely deflected.

Fail, the WR juked him and Martell saw it and made sure he threw it on target instead of trying to throw a perfect pass to a wide open receiver. Stop listening to the TV, think for yourself.

They really need to use Martell in this offense regularly somehow, But not to replace Haskins. Martell is way to talented to be riding the pine.

Imagine if JT "Ball Hog" Barrett IV came back for a 12th season. He'd have about 15 carries already and 15 throws behind the line of scrimmage.
Dwayne "Big Game" Haskins showing us the downfield passes we haven't seen in years. Thanks "Big Game" Haskins, I'm a fan

They need to play Martell as much as possible, Haskins is gone after this year. And he will take some of these WRs with him.

Saban benched his starter. AND WON.

You can see that Martell sees the field like JT Barrett IV. Haskins finds guys open everywhere, while Martell has trouble finding open receivers the same way JT Barrett did. Martell has an arm though unlike JT Barrett IV, so OSU is a safe 10 win season if Haskins goes down if they were a safe 10 win team with Barrett IV.
The skies the limit with Haskins, he might be the best passing QB in the history of Ohio State and OSU treated him like Michigan treated Tom Brady. Remember when Drew Henson kept stealing Tom Brady's playing time. Coaches love the running QB's, I have no clue why. The QB position is about throwing it, the RB position is for running.

And dishonest Saban told his QBs both would play this year. So neither would transfer and he'd have a very good backup.
Being a hater is one of the worst human defects. Living in the past is another. Grow up and use ALL of your energy supporting this years team.

Outside of one nice pass on the run I'm not really that impressed with Martell. I'm not seeing what all of the fuss is about. So go ahead and start bashing me now.

I think tate just needs more time on the field. Been 2 years since he has been on it. Did’nt get a lot of reps last year as a 3rd stringer and getting 2nd team reps this year. If haskins leaves i believe the coaching staff will have him prepared for next year just as they did with haskins this year. Kid’s got skills,he will be fine when it’s his time.
