Would be nice to someday rebuild the NOL with the charter members from 1944.
With the only change being leave out Crestline and substitute Ontario.
I think they had it right all those years ago.
Bellevue, Shelby, Galion, Willard, Bucyrus, Upper Sandusky, Norwalk, Ontario
Just my opinion.

As a Norwalk fan, I'd much rather play Clyde/Sandusky/Perkins/Bellevue/Tiffin.

They don't want any part of a league where they would be beat up week in and week out.

I agree with you guys, just being nostalgic remembering the past days of the 70 and 80’s when these teams were competitive with each other. Norwalk is too big for most of these schools and I wouldn’t think Bellevue would have much interest in playing most of them other than Norwalk and Shelby. At this point the NOL is probably never to be again. It’s just sad.

Nostalgia is a *****, says this old Upper guy. I miss the league too, but there is too much change now. It would never happen.

I too would like to see the the NOL revived one day. My heart feels the same way of the old Buckeye Conference. These mega-conference monstrosities that are trendy these days is all about the numbers. Tradition, history, age old bonds and rivalries have all been lost in this latest concept that involves cold, unpersonal calculations. The schools enlisted in these monstrosities are merely a pawn in their scheme of things. Kinda like describing the flavor vanilla.

If Willard had joined the NCC when they had the chance, you still might be seeing six of your preferred eight schools all in the same league. Instead they chose to remain loyal to TC, Bellevue, and Norwalk. Apparently no one in Willard knew anything about demographics. Just my opinion.

That's cool, did Galion join the SBC Bay Division? Willard is undefeated in the Bay Division and just defeated the 2nd place team Edison 4-1.

Just saying it's a good thing for your girls tennis team that the "NOL" no longer exists or there would be no conference championship for them this season.

But how did Lorain, Lorain Admiral King, and Elyria travel all the way to Marion (and vice versa) especially in the winter during basketball season? My brother in law coached at Findlay and when scouting he was always afraid of having his tires slashed when going up to the Lorain schools.

Now I got that joke aside, God, who didn't love the Buckeye? One of the premier conferences back in the day. At any rate I think in part the NOL would still exist today had Bucyrus not opened the floodgates. However, I do like the setup with SBC Lake

Just saying it's a good thing for your girls tennis team that the "NOL" no longer exists or there would be no conference championship for them this season. If the Queen had balls she'd be King If Port Clinton was still in the Great Lakes League with Toledo Whitmer then PC could get pounded this year
If Rutgers hadn't joined the Big Ten then they wouldn't have to get blown out every year by Ohio State If ...
Life changes, get over it. Willard is in the SBC Bay Division with Edison, Port Clinton, Huron, Oak Harbor, etc and Willard is in first place.

I am "over it". YOU brought the Willard girls tennis team up on this thread to begin with. I simply pointed out the competition that they would have had if the NOL still existed which I assumed was the point of the thread.

Hey Snowflake, I'll read the page when I want to read it. And when I do, if I feel the desire to write something, I will post it. If you do not like how it works, tough. Or you can keep whining and i'll get another chuckle. Apparently you did not see the emoji, I was trying to be funny, but i guess I hurt your feelings. I hope you have your safe space ready. I would have replied that way regardless of who said it.

Just saying it's a good thing for your girls tennis team that the "NOL" no longer exists or there would be no conference championship for them this season. Galion ran from the NOL... Everybody did. That's why its empty. Seriously, when Upper and Galion wanted changes around 2007-2009, that should have been a wake-up call to the NOL. They had a chance to be pro-active and adapt to the times. They instead chose to put their noses in the air and wait for other schools to come begging. That's when I (and a couple others) predicted the NOL was going to collapse. I even started a thread titled "NOL Deathwatch" on the previous website. The general response was "The NOL Is Fine". When the NOL slipped into a coma and that response was exposed as farce, the new excuse became "The changing times doomed the NOL. It was inevitable". That's BS. We all have to adapt and adjust to changes. Football and basketball coaches shouldn't coach as if its 1950 and then blame their lack of success on changing times. A coach who can't adjust and adapt is a poor coach. Its a failure of leadership. The failure of the NOL can be placed squarely on the leadership of the NOL. They lacked vision and open minds. The NOL died because of the close-minded pride of a few individuals. The rotten cherry on the rotten sundae was the pathetic description of the death as some kind of 'merger' with the SBC. It was no such thing. It was a fire sale. The remnant NOL Schools were like so many mismatched chairs waiting by the curb for someone to give them a home before the next rain. The only way the NOL returns is as a result of dramatic population growth in the area combined with more enlightened leadership.

I think you are right. When lost 3 schools decided to leave the NOL it was the end. Even though they did pick up Sandusky and Ontario 2 years later. It always seemed the people holding the NOL together were living in the past.
