I don't really have a problem with any team 1-10. I thought any poll with Michigan in the Top 5 was rating them too high, but I do think they are a Top 10 team, so this poll has them about right to me. I think Bama, FSU, and Clemson are the top tier teams, the elite if you will. Had OSU not lost SO many players I would have put them in that tier too. As it is, to START the year, I think they belong in the tier just behind the top group. I think OU, OSU, and Stanford belong in that next group. IMHO Michigan is borderline for that group. I have to see how the OL and QB situations pan out first.
Having Sparty that high was a bit surprising to me, but I think Dantonio is steadily earning that rep of "next man up" in regards to replacing starters...but they replace a lot.

Had Ohio State not lost 16 starters they would probably be #1 preseason. As far as tiers are concerned, I don't see any spaces between the ranked positions....lol, but I get your point.
Michigan State plays at South Bend on Sept. 14th, should be a good one. I expect ND to be in the hunt for a playoff spot near seasons end. Michigan will be an interesting study early on, especially when they host Penn State third game of the year.
The rankings look about right, nothing glaringly out of place.
After their reign in the limelight the past decade, Oregon has returned to the shadows and Florida is hanging onto the last spot.
Besides ND, I expect Tennessee to be making noise this year and with Fournette, can't count out LSU in the playoff conversation.
I remember all the hype on USC last year and they bombed, still those that promoting the Trojans return to glory this year, ain't gonna happen.

I'm excited to see Michigan in the top 10... The Michigan faithful here are getting their panties in a bunch already at what may be... and already starting to spout off to the guy that drives a Buckeye truck all over the area, and flies his flag here as well... LOL!!! That they might finally have a shot to beat OSU, after the run they have had since RR was hired way back when. They are actually due for the "W" as well, but to go into Columbus, with an Urban coached team, and win?? After last years *** beating, I can only imagine how bad Harbaugh is chomping to get to "The Game," and I can't wait to hear how bad it's going to be for the Buckeyes every week as Michigan finally starts to have a nice season and starts to believe they can beat OSU... The mouths will start running as they used to during the Cooper years and then by God, let's just hope that Urban and the men of scarlet and grey can shut them up on that fine Saturday in November! Go Bucks!!!

Buckeye, I heard that when they had the big ten press conference in Columbus that when the Michigan bus came in town, someone covered up the Michigan logo. I guess they should have picked me up to be a security guard and protect that beautiful logo. GO BLUE!

The Michigan logo was not covered up, someone put a white X on it with athletic tape.

That they might finally have a shot to beat OSU, after the run they have had since RR was hired way back when. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- How could you forget that before "way back when", Tressel beat Carr 7 straight years. Ending his tenure which led to the "way back when" era.

Lloyd Carr's last year was 2007, Tressel's first year at Ohio State was 2001. Thought Tressel beat Carr all of those 7 years. I was wrong, he only beat him 6 of the 7. That was enough for Carr to lose him job. Michigan beat Ohio State 35-21 in 2003. One of their two wins over Ohio State in the past 16 years. The other was the year after TatGate, when Fickle was head coach in 2011 and lost 7 games. The only other year Ohio State lost as many as 7 games was in 1897. The year that Ohio State had it's worst season in 115 years, Michigan managed to beat Ohio State.

Thanks for the clarity on my mistake Whilly. I thought I heard that someone say that it was covered up but there I go again thinking with my mind.

Carr retired of his own free will and actually had to be talked into returning for the 2007 season by the AD at the time. The AD was more than happy to let Llllloyd keep losing to Ohio State and winning 8-10 game's a year. I suggest you read the book " 3 and out by John U Bacon" and get educated.

You're trying to tell us if Carr had beat Tressel 6 of the 7 instead of 1 of the 7 he wouldn't have been the head coach in 2008??
If Carr had won 6 out of 7, that book wouldn't have been written OR would have had a different ending.
