I also forgot to tell y'all that Mount Union was also picked as pre-season #1 in the nation D-3 along with John Carroll and Ohio Northern in the top 25 in D-3.

Oh Wilmington - different conference - but we played them in women's basketball back in the early 90's. A Tuesday night game - the drive was horrible by bus; their team was not great, and we were having a good season. Unfortunately, someone forgot to tell their fans that the "n" word was no longer politically correct. They got under our skins and we ended up losing. Our coach was so angry . . .
She wouldn't let the bus driver stop on the way home for our "dinner." When we arrived on campus at 2:30 in the morning - everything was closed.
And we had to be up at 6 for drills (as punishment) before our first classes.
We turned around that weekend to make a return trip south to Wittenburg. As I remember - the memory of Tuesday night inspired us. We were allowed to stop for dinner on our way home after Witt.

Well Buckeye, I got some bad news for you on the fishes. My son told me that they are going to be in trouble with some players not coming back this year. The starting QB. graduated last year and his back-up decided not to play this year so they are putting their WR. from last year back at QB. They also have to find 2 LB. from last year as they also said they are not going out this year. I believe my son also said that they need to replace 2 or 3 of their DL. and also 2 or 3 DB's. So they might finish last this year unless Coach Logan can work a miracle. I doubt it because to me Coach Logan has no clue on what's going on the field and he doesn't have the players or the students and parents confidences in him and his play calling.

I played there in 1982 before I blew my knee out the second time and called it quits in the summer of 1983, just before camp started again. On the Muskie team that year (1982) were two guys that have gone on to be big time coaches... Jon Gruden (won Superbowl XXXVII with Tampa Bay) and Darrell Hazell, the current head coach at Purdue (who was a D3 All-American.) Jeff Heacock, younger brother of Jim Heacock (ex-OSU defensive coordinator) was our head coach at the time, and I think is still the AD at Muskingum after 20+ years of coaching with a 42% win record . Muskingum was a football juggernaut in the early 60's with "Cannonball" Cooper at running back, but never so much since that time. The best record I think I remember is maybe 7-3 my junior or senior year, when that class of us that were heavily recruited were upperclassmen and by then, I wasn't playing anyway. I wish them well. D3 sports in a program that is not shown much success in recent history is difficult.
