Might be time to take our expectations down just a touch for this season. They started out hot but we may be still a year or so away from really being elite. Lots of bad mistakes being made lately which show with the number of fouls and turnovers.

Not shooting well Not defending well They def need to re group. Potter leaving has come home to roost, not that he was such a star but he contributed more than Jaden Leedee is. Obviously will have a talent injection next season, with 4 new guys. 3 HS studs plus the FSU transfer.

In 2019 basketball if you can’t shoot the 3 and defend the 3 it makes it very hard to win games

5 in a row now. I think they said during the game Ohio State hasn’t lost this many in a row since the 90’s? I may be wrong on that but I thought that’s what they said.
They fought back and cut it to 2 but just too many turnovers, lots of mistakes being made by young players. And kaleb Wesson needs to learn to stop fouling, some of the calls may be crap calls but he just has to figure out a way to stay on the court. You never saw Sullinger get into the amount of foul trouble as he does.

Sully was an All American and first round draft pick. I was using him as an example/comparison since Wesson is probably the most skilled big man we’ve had since Sully and are similar type players, big bodied post players who can also step outside and shoot a jump shot if needed.

I'm with ya but I was just saying when you made a mistake on the court, nobody made a Nick Dials reference.

The Kyle Young injury doesn't help. For historical perspective, Ohio State hasn't lost more than four games in a row since the 1997-98 season. In Jim O-Brien's first season, and after starting the year 7-3, the Buckeyes lost 17 straight games - finishing 8-22 (1-15 in the Big Ten). Of course Penn and most new arrivals were also forced to sit out that season as well.

They had a certain swagger at the beginning of the season, it's gone.
I can't wait for next year's recruiting class to be added and CJ Jackson to be gone. DJ Carton is the #2 rated PG in the country and would have been a significant improvement this year. Next year's class has 3 of the Top 36 players in the country.

I have heard this team enjoys the social life a little and have been celebrating their good start often.

If you’re using 247 he is 3rd. 247 uses combo guard as a position, espn does not. Also 247 has the 3 buckeyes in the top 46, it’s espn that has them in the top 36. Are you combing the two ranking services for your benefit? He’s also the 5th ranked pg on rivals

Made some big shots. Out rebounded our opponent by 14. Did turn the ball over 13 times. Got several hustle loose ball rebounds which were big. Any, and I mean any road win in the big 10 is a good win. I'm not expecting a win vs UM next week. I am expecting/hoping we compete and play with more of what we had today. Kaleb Wesson hasn't played well in about 5 games. If he doesn't play well, it's very tough for us to get a quality win. Today was the exception.

The key moment was when they went to the extended 2-3. It had the Huskers baffled for about a 3 minute stretch. It cracks me up when one of the Buckeyes seniors screws up and Holtmann looks at them like, “How the f did you get recruited here?”

Wesson has really been struggling lately as buckeyekid said. Foul trouble has been a part of it but today he just didn’t seem to play well. Hopefully he gets out of this. And Jackson does some nice things sometimes but then other times I just have no idea what he’s thinking. Our PG play is going to be so much better next year with Carton.

The other seniors are Joey, "never plays" Lane, a walk on. And Senior graduate transfer, Keyshaun Woods, who Holtmann recruited just this year. .

Are you combing and brushing my ars again? You are not worthy.

Wesson is struggling because they are doubling up on him defensively. This team is paper thin on the front line. Holtmann has recruited very well at the guard position, but needs depth down low. This is the Big Ten, you need big, physical bangers at the low post, who can bloody a few noses and stake their territory. Get Wesson the needed help and this team will take the next step to respectability.

I agree about Wesson getting doubled more but even when they don’t double him he still hasn’t been the same player, missing shots that he normally makes or drawing fouls. The last couple games Ohio State has actually played better with him on the bench but you obviously will need him to succeed.

If they start shooting better that should clear up room for big guy. Losing Kyle Young has been huge.

Agreed sportsjock, when Potter left abruptly, it left us short handed as it is. With Young out, it's even tougher. Wesson i think would seriously benefit from another strong 3 or a 4 on this team. At present we are running with what seems like a couple point guards and four or five shooting guards and then Wesson at Center.

Disappointed that Holtmann couldn't convince Potter that he would have had a larger role on this team. He wasn't a star, but man we sure could have used him this year it seems to me. No help at all for Wesson from LeeDee. Undermanned once again last night. I keep Hearing great things about Carton our future PG from Iowa.
