I'm a little surprised Shelby fans haven't brought up anything on the Shelby girls golf team.Sounds like Soph Amanda Rominiksi and Fr Nicole Jones are the real deal. Shooting below par is quite the accomplishment for any golfer but for 14 and 15 year old girls. Wow! We might see these girls play on Sunday one day. Congrats from a Willard guy.

It's RUmin-no i-ski. The MNJ said she short a 68 at Valley View to lead her team to the Sectional Title. It was also said her 68 was a course record. With no qualifier. Does a 15 year old young lady now hold the overall course record or female course record?

Good Luck to both Shelby and Bellevue girls' golf teams! This Norwalk mom has appreciated watching them play the last couple of years! It's fun to see the friendships and relationships these girls build among the different teams. Best wishes for a strong showing at state!

It's fun to see the friendships and relationships these girls build among the different teams. Best wishes for a strong showing at state! Golfing and throwing is a very interesting sports combo. You don't see that everyday. There are actually more of these combo athletes than people realize. Bellevue has a very good senior golfer who was also one of their top throwers. My daughter and she have become good friends and enjoy golfing together and then seeing each other and supporting each other at track meets/invites. Oak Harbor's top thrower also competed in golf this year. My daughters showed up late to the golf game, one as a junior, and the other as a senior this year. However, both immediately took to the game, have enjoyed playing, and also have a hobby for life. I think throwers have a little more flexibility in their hips and shoulders that allow for a good golf swing. At least, that is my daughter's argument. I don't think the actions are quite the same though.

It's not flexibility exactly. It's that throwers understand how to use their hips in conjunction with their upper bodies because, hopefully, that's what they've been working on since they first picked up a shot or a disc. I can certainly see how that would be useful n a golf swing. I guess I never really thought about it before.

However, in my daughter's case she sometimes lacks the finesse needed for the short game.

My youngest two ended up choosing tennis as their fall sport. It actually ended up helping them with their footwork a lot.
