Ohio State is a 14 point favorite and the game is at 7:30 on ABC. Ohio State is 3-4 against the spread this year
Ohio State leads the all-time series 39-14-2
Of all the teams in the country Purdue has the 2nd most wins vs Ohio State since 2000 Purdue has the best winning percentage of all Big Ten teams vs Ohio State since 2000
This game worries me the most besides the Michigan game. Purdue was a 9 win team last year and should be 6-0 right now. They've had a late 4th quarter lead in all 6 games this year. If Purdue was 6-0 and ranked 12th, then I'd be confident Ohio State would beat them by 20. But Purdue blew 3 games and sits at 3-3, so is Ohio State going to take them as serious as they should?

Thanks for the Purdue info. 'Purdue has the best winning percentage of all Big Ten teams vs Ohio State since 2000'
I've been nervous about Purdue all year, the Bucks are gonna have to bring their 'A' game, because the Boilermakers will be throwing everything they have at us. Expect some trickery as well. It's good to get the 4-5 starters back for this one though.

Without a doubt this game will set the tone for the off week practices. We have so many holes on defense to close up. Big plays are hurting us and the UM and MSU teams are getting better each week. If we can't get this win tomorrow and improve some concerned areas, we will not be playing on Dec 1.

Without a doubt this game will set the tone for the off week practices. We have so many holes on defense to close up. Big plays are hurting us and the UM and MSU teams are getting better each week. If we can't get this win tomorrow and improve some concerned areas, we will not be playing on Dec 1. There is no debate on the fact this team possesses tremendous talent at every position. The problem is, young and inexperienced talent, especially predominant in the defensive backfield. The problem with young and inexperienced talent, their young minds are spinning a million miles an hour, trying to absorb their duties and terrified at making a mistake. They are in a full mental state and every move is being calculated in their mind, "what do I do next"? At some point, they become comfortable in their knowledge and abilities and things begin to slow down and they begin to relax. As the game before them slows it's pace and becomes more comfortable, the stress recedes, the heart rate lessens and unlike before, when every reactionary move was being calculated in their spinning mind, with a dozen questions of self doubt, they now understand their assignments in a clear, calm, focused manner. The mechanical nature gives way to less thought process and more instantaneousness, reaction time is a fraction of what it was prior and mind & body, functioning fluidly as one. Unfortunately, too many players haven't quite arrived at that point of development quite yet, but they will. Some fans have prematurely arrived at their estimated conclusion that the defense simply 'sucks', end of story. I see the early indications that piece by piece, this team is on the verge of putting all the pieces together and completing the puzzle. On defense, some players have come out of spring ball and quickly established they were way ahead of the learning curve, like Malik Burrow and Chase Young. Defense is most feeling the ill-effects of youth and inexperience. Can't remember a time when we have relied on so many freshmen, and therein lies the problem. Freshmen that are showing flashes of brilliance and revealed themselves to be future stars are Shawn Wade, Sevyn Banks, Tyreke Smith, Teradja Michell and Tommy Togiai. But, as talented as they are, they are green freshman still learning the college game. I expect to see this group really stepping up by seasons end. We basically have the same underclassman problem with so many sophomores on the field, but Tuff Borland, Baron Browning, Pete Werner and Jeffrey Okudah are beginning to play like men. Okudah especially is impressing with his play at CB and has the football mind and athleticism to be a damn good safety, if the move becomes necessary. One thing we know for sure, this defense is not quite as bad as we make it out to be. The big plays and horrendous lapses with players looking foolishly out of position is imprinted in peoples minds. But, as some of you have pointed out on this forum, 2nd half Buckeye defense has been playing contrary to those thoughts. They have given up a total of 14 points all year and permitted shutout 6 of 7 second half opponents this year. Doubt any other team can match the second half accomplishments. That is what they can hang their hat on and build on. Why the tremendous disparities between 1st half defense and 2nd half defensive performance with this team? Quite simple, it all points to the locker room at halftime, where Urban and his coaches conduct classroom of 'Football Defense 101' and the kids respond. It's all going to come together in one defining moment. Is that moment going to be this Saturday in West LaFayette?

I see a very talented yet undisciplined team that lacks leadership and toughness. Time to scrap run game altogether and throw every down.

Lacks leadership like a captain quitting school and bailing on the team.

If we lose this game, It may not be all that bad. It's inevitable anyway, cause we're not a playoff team. Losing this late in the year would keep us out of their playoff, But we could beat TTUN, and keep them from getting in it.

Wow! Purdue just looks so much stronger and faster than Ohio State. Putting a sanding on us.

Out coached, is the reason why Purdue is saving us from looking worse by being in the playoff. We would get slaughtered in the playoff. Only one important game left, TTUN.

Everyone wanted better passing, which we have with Haskins, but we have now become a one dimensional team. Weber and Dobbins are no threat at all anymore.

I'm sorry, but this brand of football is not Ohio State football. One dimensional, pass happy offense, with no threat whatsoever from the so-called running game. This is Ohio State, historically, we tote the rock and run it down your throat.
A defense going through the motions. I've seen no fire from this group all year. Watching the replay of little #4, who was in the grasp of a defensive player twice his size, he was able to keep his feet moving and when Mr. Macho was preparing to slam him to the ground he spun out of his grasp, made a move on a CB, cut inside and split two LB's and it was open field! Where the hell's the safeties?
I would have jerked Haskins early 4th QTR., his mind and his heart was no longer in it. He was hanging his head and made some incredibly poor decisions that kept the scoreboard flashing.
We just witnessed a replay of Iowa 2017.....pathetic.

Anybody on here really a Haskins fan Haskins is the only QB I have ever seen that is more likely to injure himself going into a slide than if he had put his head down and tried to get as many yards as he could.

Our linebackers are bad. And I’m not sure it’s so much the players but more just the scheme and how they’re being coached. The defensive coaches need to make some serious changes.

Purdue must have had a sign hanging in the locker room that said
"Send em home with nubs"
Cause that was one of the worst weiner sandings I've seen in a while.

Hmmm, Urban still doesn't know how to get the run game going. Hmm, Purdue just ran it down the throats of OSU with a stationary QB. Maybe Urb should ask around since he only knows how to run it with a QB. I'm surprised Eddie George ran for so many yards with Bobby Hoying being his QB. I guess it's a good think #27 had Cooper as his coach instead of Urb. Maybe Urb should work harder and not be so lazy; at his noon press conferences on a Monday he always claims he knows nothing about the upcoming opponent because he hasn't watched any film on them. Huh? I get taking Sunday off. But you'd think he'd be in at 6:00 am watching film on the next opponent. Nope not Urb, noon rolls around on Monday and he heads out to the press conference and claims he knows nothing about the upcoming opponent because he hasn't watched any film yet. That lazy attitude is contagious and his O-Line blocks with the same vigor. Eastern Michigan beat Purdue, yep, Eastern Michigan beat Purdue. Urb just got rolled because on Monday at noon he still hadn't watched any film on them. How much does Urb get paid? What is OSU paying him so much for if he's going to be so lazy?

Oh, and whats with all the penalties. Lack of discipline? Yep
4th down, try to block a FG on a team that likes trick play. Trick play, first down. 4th down, try to block a punt. Roughing the punter, first down. 3rd and long, lets take a late shot on the QB. Roughing the passer, first down. etc.
The team is undisciplined and takes after their lazy coach who on Monday's at noon, "claims" he still hasn't watched film on the upcoming opponent. Urb is either a liar (he didn't know nothing about Zach and Courtney) or super lazy.

Purdue shouldn't over celebrate too much, there is no way that win was over the second best team in the nation. We were way overrated.

I’ve felt we were overrated for a while now, we basically got to #2 by default anyway with other teams losing. We belong more in the 5-10 range. Fix the running game and fix the linebacker issue. Also, where has Chase Young been? It doesn’t seem like we hear his name very much.
