So a kid who doesn’t play any other sports gets punished less than a kid who plays two sports? This is where this rule is tricky if you are ejected during a football game, you sit out that game plus one more football game since it carries over to basketball now he sits out two games. because basketball has a 22 game max schedule.. wrestling is also different ... if a kid doesnt play another sport..what can they do? Exactly. So you punish a two sport athlete and a one sport athlete can do whatever they want. The only risk to doing nothing is turning loose a senior in a playoff game when it is clearly out of hand. How often is that going to happen and is it worth punishing a two sport athlete while letting a single sport athlete off the hook. Bad rule IMO.

Two things to consider; I don't really know THAT many one sport athletes. And, often rules are in place due to precedence.

I suppose you could take it out on the coach.

You can not punish one kid if you can’t punish all offenders.
If the argument is it will keep a basketball player/wrestler/etc from unsportsmanlike conduct what keeps the one sport athlete in line?
I’d say the need to have any punishment beyond missing the rest of your season is probably unnecessary. We’re probably talking about one incident a year, tops.
