Its early just wondering some thoughts for next year? Any schedule changes what young players will step up?
St Paul- So consistent they reload every year
Mapleton- Will they be able to replace one of the best qbs in FC history
SC- Losing some good seniors but seem to return some good players will they continue to build?
Mville- Losing qb,rb and some lineman. Can they get back to competing for league
Crestview- New coach not sure who it is yet but will have some talent.
Western- 2nd year under new coach can they take next step
Plymouth- Losing schools leading rusher can they replace him
NL- 2nd year under new coach, trying to break long losing streak

Is it still SMCc, SJCC, and Calvert to start the season for Flyers? I thought I read somewhere that it may change soon despite Diocese's wishes(for lack of better word)?

Gosh, SMCC had been Week 1 since late 70s/early 80s? But, it had definitely ran it's course. I wouldn't mind SJCC being taken off as well. Calvert is good to keep.

Was thinking about how odd it will be watching Plymouth without Seth Bailey on the feild this upcoming season. Seems like he's been been the face of the Big Red for the past few years. Not sure how many 4 year starters have come through the FC that have had as much of an impact as he has. I'm talking legit starters, not letterman. Know of any?

How embarrassing.😳 I thought he signed a 5 year $3 million contract good through 2018 with The Big Red. My bad lol....

lol They could only get him to do the 4 year deal.
On the same note they did have the schools leading single season rusher last year in senior Kade Collins so the runningback situation there will be interesting this year.

It will be interesting to see what Mapleton brings to the table with Mahaney leaving for Shelby. I know they have the Hartley kid coming back, not sure about what else. Anyone heard anything on Crestview job officially?

Lol. Thx for not ripping me too bad fellas! On a side note, I'll take Plymouth second to SP in 2019. And I'll say they'll give SP a run for their money for 3 quarters.

No HC yet and star athlete leaving the Mounties? Will the Mounties return to the days of competing with New London for that single victory in the 2019 season?

It looks like Raymond Leek has been hired as head coach for his first HC position. He was an associate head coach the last 2 years at Southington Chalker, in 2016 DC for Mogadore Field, assistant at Marlington in 2015, defensive coordinator/special teams coordinator East Canton in 2014, and special teams coordinator for Waterloo in 2012. I'll be curious to see how things go for the Mounties with Mahaney gone. Very creative coach offensively! Leek will have quite a weapon offensively with the younger Hartley only being a junior. The real question is who will be throwing the football with one of the greatest QB's to ever come through the conference, Logan Pharmer, graduating. www.times-gazette.com/sports/20190419/leek-named-head-football-coach-at-mapleton

Alot of question marks for the league and who will be in the top half of the conference.. Non conf looks like the Firelands could get a decent amount of wins but its still pretty early and alot can change.

I heard from a couple of different sources that the younger Hartley will be transferring or moving to Ashland High School next year. Anyone else heard about this or is this just one of those preseason rumors. Regardless of his possible departure, I think St. Paul runs the table in the FC, unless they happen to have an off game and their opponent has their best game. Hey , anything is possible, that’s why they play the games.

The Firelands Conference is probably the least talked about league around. Anyone have any 7 on 7's going on? Please share some results and opinions. How about this years scrimmage schedules?

Heard NL had an early 7/7 out of state, Not sure where though. Anyone know how that went? I hope Coach Keyes gets things turned around at NL, would help restore some of the competition in the FC. I don’t think they will go winless this year. Crestview will be the one to watch. Heard they have some good numbers and talent returning. Plymouth May he another one worth watching. This is Coach Sanchez’s 2nd year with the line, he’s a great motivator and will have those lineman working their butts off.

Monroeville had 7 on 7’s vs Edison, Margaretta, and Perkins yesterday. Overall, they were definitely the best looking offensive unit out there. Their passing game was pretty good, a few timing issues, but I expect those to be ironed out by the start of the season. Defensively, it was a tie between Edison and Monroeville. Still very early though and plenty of time for improvement.

I think this is going to be a great year in the FC. I can see SP,Crestview,SC, Western, Plymouth, and Monroeville having great years and playing each other really tough. Going to be great as a fan. As the start gets closer my picks may have changed a bit due to intensive research.
1. SP - I think they finally lose a conference game this year. Too many good teams. SOMEBODY will? beat them. 2. Plymouth - playing Lucasball is paying off. 3. SC - ton of kids back with experience. Will probably score 30-40 pts a game. Going to be fun to watch. 4. Monroeville 5. Western 6. Crestview 7. NL 8. Mapleton

1belowthepressbox, I think you may be right. I haven’t watched all the FC schools yet, but I was definitely impressed with Monroeville’s QB and WR play at their 7 on 7 last week considering what they lost with graduation . They absolutely shredded Perkins, Edison, and Margaretta while on offense. SC definitely looks good early on. It’s still early and plenty of time for improvement. I hope JL has something up his sleeve over at St. Paul, because it looks as things could get tight this year for the flyers.
