That goes back to my original question; we probably should expect the Redmen to be a bit better esp since their non-conference schedule gets a little easier.

I will go with who has the most explosive offensive player and that’s Sandusky and Stewart. Norwalk lost a ton but do have a nice qb returning. I still don’t get why St. Paul and Norwalk have not come together for turf instead of playing at their current crappy location.

Norwalk lost a ton? We have 15 of 22 starters coming back; 8 of 11 on D, and 7 of 11 on offense. That's why the excitement is so high in Trucker Nation right now.

It will take some time, but should be in the next couple of years. A lot of of other upgrades may be part of the deal as well. As to why it has not happened until now, one word-MacFarland...

I got ya, by mid-season it looks like a small lake in the middle of the field at times. It definitely needs to happen.

I'll admit the press box and stands weren't the best, but the setting was so cool, down in that little valley. Very pretty in October.

Played there once in middle school, muggy, no wind, and they ate us up. High school wasn’t that bad because the Plymouth game wasn’t till later in the year. Didn’t get anywhere near as sloppy as Whitney field. But they should require spectators get a tetanus shot before being seated😆.

Ah....Mary Fate Park. Other than a closet there was no locker room for visiting teams. At half time you had to climb out of the pit the field was at the bottom of and sit on a the school bus that you came in uniform to the game. I was once attacked by a parent when walking up the hill at halftime, because he didn't like the tackle I made on his son the QB on the last play before halftime. Also, the PA guy noticed that when our wing back ran a reverse we'd go in motion one count before the ball was snapped. Seeing that, he'd yell so everyone at the game could hear, "HERE COMES THAT REVERSE AGAIN!!".

I'm all for eliminating SBC divisions and have one big happy league. Clyde @ Margaretta, St. Joe @ Norwalk, Bellevue & Lakota (football). But, some of them will eventually get mad, when the novelty wheres off.

Truckers Class AA State Champs and Crimson Streaks Class A runner-up.

I know most do not want to talk Perkins football, but appears as if we could see some positive change this year. Not sure how this change came about, but it appears as if Travis Crabtree will FINALLY get the nod at OC. Travis jokingly asked my son if he would consider transferring back before a Perkins b-ball game this winter.😂 This is long overdue. Not sure if having a new Superintendent who happens to be a high school football coach has something to with this or not. It also could be that one of the coaches favorites (the one who quit wrestling just because he disliked Crabtree), is now graduating so it’s no longer a problem. IDK, but I glad it’s happening, and it’s funny as well. Especially since Zeigler turned Crabtree down the first time he volunteered to call the plays by yelling “nobody’s gonna tell me how to run my program.” Travis will definitely make a difference by creating an offensive scheme around the strengths of the players he has. Will he be given complete authority to do so? Well, I’ll believe it when I see it, Zeigler is not one to admit it when he is wrong. The schedule has changed a bit this year as well. Mansfield Sr., Genoa, and Oak Harbor are out and Elyria Catholic, Maumee, and Independence are in. The last 2 years combined Genoa has put 86 points on the Perkins defense, while OH put up 70. Although the Mansfield game in 2018 was very close it was against a team without a true quarterback. They traded 3 schools that they had no chance in beating for 1 maybe in Independence and a possible win with Maumee. Lastly, Perkins will sport new uniforms and/or helmets this year, all white with black lettering. I’m predicting .500 right now just because of the new duds, it will be because of Crabtree, but Zeigler will say it’s because of the new uniforms.😆😆 I’m out.

Heads up; Maumee went winless last year. Unless greatly improved (ala TC from 17 to 18), that should be a win for Pirates.

I seen their record Jake, and hopefully Travis will be allowed to run the offense without interference, if so, Maumee should be a win. Now if Zeigler breaks out his punting on 3rd down strategy, it’ll be a toss up.

What are their numbers going to be like this year? I hope they get it turned around, but I do not think crabtree is the savior.

Well Rich we’ll have to wait and see if he’s going to be allowed to run the offense his way or if this is just a change by Zeigler to give the appearance of an effort to change. It’s no secret here in Perkins that Zeigler and Crabtree are not best buds, and considering what players Perkins will have at their disposal this smells like a set up for failure to some. Anything Crabtree will come up with has to better than the 10 play playbook (sometimes the same play 3 or 4 times in a row) they have been working with since Quisno left. The RB position will be a huge question mark this year as the best RB they had in the 2020 class now plays for another school, and none of the ones left are over 160lbs. There are also rumors of their main downfield threat WR Clinton returning to Perkins. They only have one other WR in grades 11 and 12, so this will be another huge question mark. The schedule change should help get a least 1 more win facing a 0-10 Maumee team. Independence is another possible win as well, and considering the way the SBC went last year I expect surprises will happen. While .500 might be a bit of a stretch, 3-4 wins is more of a realistic possibility. This is of course if they can keep what weapons they have left healthy. So Savior, no, but definitely a step in the right direction. The step after that should be Zeigler out the door.
