Does this mean they don't have Freshman teams at all? They have something like 14 girls in total in high school playing basketball? Do they have 20 cheerleaders for Boys basketball? I doubt they have swim teams.

Certainly discouraging from an athletics standpoint for regular sized schools. I've seen small private schools do this for boys and girls, but usually public schools don't have this issue.
It's gotta be double difficult if someone gets sick or hurt right before the game and they have to cancel altogether at the last minute. This is probably part of the reason there is a proposal to up the quarter limit to 6 per day instead of 5.

For this to happen with a sport only needing 5 players at a time, is not good. Unfortunately, this has been a trend recently.

I doubt they have swim teams. We don't have numbers problems for girls basketball, but we have most of those other things. No freshmen girls, but we do have 19 cheerleaders and swimming. It helps that we are the biggest school in the N10, but a school like Ridgedale never has enough for a JV team and a school like Bucyrus will sometimes cancel a JV game here and there for various reasons.
