Don't plan on feeling that way, but the Pirates are so young and injured that the terrible thought of that happening has crossed my mind. For the first time in many moons TTUN has some swagger. But I'm always gonna roll with the Pirates!
For the 75th time, Cardington-Lincoln and Mount Gilead will square off in one of the great small school rivalries in the Buckeye state. All time Cardington-Lincoln leads the series 37-36-1. We're fortunate to have a conference with great rivalries to end the season. Of course the Devil-Dog game is one of the best. Fredericktown and Centerburg are long time rivals as well as Northmor and Highland. Anyone else have any interesting facts about their rivalry games?
Pirates showed great fight tonight. On to rivalry week!
You were a week too early. They showed "great fight" tonight also. I missed it. I had just left, after Purple scored to go up 26 to 19, to get to the school where the teams were going to be fed and the MVPs of "The Battle of 42" were to be recognized. Had to feed the boys in separate rooms, but got the two MVPs together for their reward. After I had given the plaques to the two players I offered them my reflection of their post game activities. I gave them the advice my mother once gave me at the age of 17 or so..."Son I know you have all the brains in the world because you have never used any of them".
Very unfortunate end to what would have been an all time classic in the series. Not sure what Purple thought would happen though when they didn't line up to shake hands but rather planted three flags at midfield. I understand they were excited. It's a great rivalry game, but they got the reaction that they should have known was coming. Congrats to them on their win, but I can guarantee that that incident won't be forgotten.
East Knox 21 and Seneca East 20. East led 20-0 at one point. They also lost four fumbles. Three of those came in the first half. East Knox will play Carey next. Carey won 7-0 tonight. With those two playing, it may be back at Harding next Friday night.
Possibly, but they don't typically put a team in the same venue 2 weeks in a row if they can help it. Arlin is out since Mansfield will be playing on Friday. Does Highland ever put into host? I could also maybe see OWU.
Two Fridays in a row and East Knox uses the same formula to win. EK's defense in the second half played a big role in their win. A couple of picks halted Carey and they bent but did not break. Next up, New Middletown Springfield at a site to be announced Sunday.
