He open enrolled and Put-in-Bay does technically have a varsity program so there isn't really anything he can do. In regards to the Oak Hill transfer to Sidney I'm assuming he moved to Sidney which would make him eligible.

How dare he transfer from a school with 5 boys to a school that has enough kids to send in a substitute during a game. Obviously he was recruited. [/sarc]
The OHSAA is teaching a valuable life lesson, if you are going to transfer you have to do it before 9th grade, if you wait until after 9th grade the OHSAA will throw the book at you. What's the difference? Nothing, but now the OHSAA can pat their own backs and say they tried to stop recruiting. Meanwhile the next LeBron James and his crew of buddies can choose to go to Akron SVSM before 9th grade and never sit out.
The OHSAA needs to stop penalizing kids for transferring. They should be allowed to play in all games. The competitive balance rule is the rule that is good, the bad rule is penalizing a kid for transferring.
If Oak Harbor had 8 kids transfer in to play basketball then bump Oak Harbor up a division with competitive balance, don't penalize the kids (they are kids) for transferring and making them sit out half the season and miss the tournament.

PIB basketball is most years a combined girl/boy team that plays freshman teams. They lose most of their games and the entire thing is basically just an excuse to get off the island in the winter. Unfortionately for Blake the OHSAA most likely has the only two people in the state who don’t know that PIB is on an island running his case.

Not surprised that Booker isn't eligible for the second half of the season. He likely would have been eligible if he enrolled at Danbury since he has established residency in that district. Pretty easy to connect the dots in how he ended up at Oak Harbor.

The bottom line is that you must transfer before your 9th grade year. I agree 100% on sitting out the second half of the season. A few years ago when Edison played Canton Central Catholic. They had 9 new defensive starters from game 4 to game 10 because all of these players sat out the first half of the season. I still think there should be a separate playoff scenario for public and private schools but that is different debate.

Exemption 3 only allows students to participate in a bordering school district and Oak Harbor is too far.

Note either exception listed says ANY school district
Exception 3 - School Closure, Discontinuation of HS Program, or Annexation/Consolidation
If a chartered public high school or a chartered non-public high school in which the student was enrolled closes or discontinues its entire high school program after grade nine, that student may enroll in any school and become immediately eligible at that school. Further, if the student’s parents’ residence is annexed to a different school district or consolidated within a school district, the student may be ruled eligible upon transfer to a school in the annexed or consolidated district.
Exception 10 - Discontinuation of Athletic Programs
If the student’s school decides to effectively cease its sponsorship of each of its athletic programs, the student may transfer to any other district/system and have his/her eligibility restored. Further, that student may transfer back to the original district if it decides to resume its sponsorship of itsathletic programs.

We have a month of this school year left. It is not to early to talk about which schools are getting transfers or move ins to help their teams for next season.
