Shelby’s Caleb Brown went 9:07.56 in the 3200 indoor at Spire this past Sunday 2-10 I believe that ranked him #1 in Ohio #3 in the Country.

Shelby has 5 guys competing at the state indoor meet this Saturday
Sam Swanger, Sam Logan, Caleb Brown, Blake Lucius in the 4 x 800 Lucius 800/Logan 1600/Brown 3200/Henkel Long Jump
Stine if still on the team would be jumping , he is currently ranked 1 in the state at 6’8” He has been jumping unattached (not Shelby) just jumping on his own. He is not eligible to jump at the state meet.
Shelby has a shot to win all four distance events or place top five for sure unless some misfortune happens. 4x800/Lucius/Brown are all rank 1 in their event. Brown is also ranked 1 in the 1600 but not running it.
Good luck guys

OATCCC D2/3 Indoor State Championships 3-2-19
Shelby boys had a great showing winning state championships in all four of the distance events.
State champions in the 4x800 Caleb Brown, Sam Swanger, Sam Logan, Blake Lucius 800 Lucius, 1600 Logan, and 3200 Brown
Brown's win in the 3200 set a new meet record 9:12.55 . The 4x800 had a shot to set the meet record. Brown led off then Swanger then Logan. By about 300 into Logans split he had such a commanding lead that coach Z motioned for him to ease up and the same for Lucius that followed. Wanted them to save it for their individual events. Both of these boys are capable of much faster splits if needed. It paid off with individual wins also. These four boys in just 4 events scored 40 points and took home the state runner up trophy by behind Dayton Dunbar with 46. Dunbar had a whole lot more people and in a lot more events than what Shelby was in. These four distance events were the only running events Shelby was in the one other boys event was Caleb Henkel in the Long Jump who ended up 15th.
I will try to post some more later about the girls and check on what some of the other MOAC schools did at the meet. I do know Shelby's Makenna Heimlich won the girls 800
Awesome job guys we are proud of you.

Too bad Stine is not able to high jump for this team. His 6’6”or 6’8” jump this year would have won and gave them 10 more points. You possibly would have been coming home with the 1st place team trophy 50-46 over Dunbar instead of runner up. Still a great accomplishment out of those boys. Poor choices hurt teams. It will hurt in outdoor as well.

We have a few area runners competing at indoor nationals in NY City this weekend 3-8 thru 3-10
Caleb Brown 5000M Blake Lucius 800M Kerrigan Myers I believe in the 60 Hurdles Makenna Heimlich 800M
Are there others from the area ? Is this the event Kerrigan Myers is doing ? not high jump ? I saw her at state indoor she is very good at either.
I’m not sure what days they are all participating on I think the boys are Friday night

She's a better runner than a high jumper. I don't think that 5'4 meets the qualifying mark for nationals.

Too bad the Shelby runners didn't put a little more effort in TEAM races this season. They only ran a relay once all season and backing off on the effort that race cost them a qualifying time. Looking at the 4x800 time at Nationals they had a shot of not only placing top eight but possibly winning. Just what they ran at state would have placed 6th and they didn't even push it at the state meet. Fist place time yesterday was only 8:00. This group could have performed well in the DMR as well but never ran it all season, cant qualify if you don't run.
