vermilion won last night, but has been struggling a bit prior to that game. I can't imagine norwalk will give up easy layups like the tygers did last night and they also won't shoot a bunch of questionable 3 point shots. vermilion looks to push and norwalk looks to control tempo. and both schools have to drive an hour south to play it, can't they meet in the middle?

Vermillion takes norwalk to the shed. To many good guards and shoot the three pretty well. Only way truckers have a chance is to keep it a very low scoring game.vermilion will score a lot more than Ontario.

The chalk lives. Also if you don’t like the drive don’t go or go ask schools to put in bids to host wasn't complaining at all about the drive, just an observation. That's the problem! What D1 or D3 has a gym large enough to accommodate the crowds from last night?? Willard??? But the coaches don't want to play on the short floor. Rumor is Madison won't apply to host next year. Senior is the best location but they will never be D1 again. At one time, Mansfield was going to build a Civic Center behind the Holiday Inn. That fell through. Someone needs to buy that 3/4 finished church on PAW in Ontario and turn it into a Coliseum! It's definitely big enough.

In the vein of district sites...
Lakewood High School is a D1 district site, yet Lakewood High School, itself a D1 team, is not only located in another district, but an entirely different region as well. This partially works because of the proximity of teams in the Cleveland area, I don't think Mansfield Senior would fancy being bumped to the Columbus District site to be able to go back to hosting games. Maybe they would. I don't know.
While we are talking about Lakewood, their first or second guy off the bench for their team is 100% deaf. He requires a full-time interpreter during practices and games, but he is supposedly a defensive menace and typically faceguards the opponent's best offensive player. Apparently the vibrations in the floor help him figure out where screens are coming from, among other things. They are a #3 seed and play tonight.

The Lakewood problem is because there are 6 districts in NE D1. Regions are a state thing. Also why Mansfield isn’t going to Columbus. They aren’t in the Central district. The story on the deaF player is pretty awesome

The response to your observation would be that there is not a school gym that can handle or wants to handle the D2 district inside the location of the schools playing other than Madison. Besides, it is only a long drive if you lose.

Most tournament games do require a drive and although I hear what you are saying Norwalk is not an hour away from Madison.

Realistically, if we really want to gripe about travel times, we should pay a visit to the Southeast regions. Those guys have brutal drive times.

It's definitely big enough. It's more like 1/4 finished, just cement block walls and roof on the outside, nothing is done on the inside. Talk to the guy that owns NextGen Films. He's spending millions on Ontario sports/school projects. I'm for anything that gets rid of that eye sore. The problem is that it's held up in the courts over a lawsuit on who owes whom, the church or the contractor. The church found a guy to start building on the pastor's word that the Lord would supply the needed funds. A scam on his part.

Nowalk is less than an hour and V is almost half an hour further away than Norwalk.

If the teams that lost had won, no one would be complaining.

My grand uninformed opinion based on last year's Vermilion team is that they operate very well under chaos and fast-break scenarios.

Personally I like the neutral sites for tournament play. If you look at Division II I wouldn't mind if the Districts go to Willard because it is centrally located and have the Sectionals at Bucyrus and Oak Harbor. While Division IV District go to Galion.

Who cares about how far you have to drive. I'm sure the kids, coaching staff's and true fans don't care a bit. Next you'll be complaining about Columbus is to far to drive for a state championship.

Agree, I loved the long bus rides. Thinking about the game, concentrating on responsibilities, going over the scouting report in my head. It was almost trance like.

If V's defense can keep Haraway out of his comfort zone, they can win.

If V's defense can keep Haraway out of his comfort zone, they can win. watched the game on tv last night and Ontario made it ruff on Ben. Only a couple drives that weren't contested but other than that Ontario had bodies on him. Would like to give the Ontario kids a lot of credit.they played their guts out.looks like they will have a real nice team next year. Like to see willard put Ontario back on the schedule. Sure would be a good game to watch.vermilion takes norwalk by 10. Real nice guards and can shoot the 3.
