BH get's 1st team all state according to Norwalk Reflector. Crickets from the people who would know about his MJ escapades though. For the record, I wish him the best and if this incident is true, I hope people don't define the kid because of it. It's almost legal at this point.

Figure to use this thread to state it's hard to believe it's been 5 years to the day when Trucker Nation shocked the world.

Figure to use this thread to state it's hard to believe it's been 5 years to the day when Trucker Nation shocked the NORWALK world. I corrected that for you. Most outside of Norwalk saw this team as having great talent with it's consecutive game records, doing well the previous 2 seasons and doing well in the D1 tourney the year before. Definitely a season to celebrate. With the talent that team had, if they had not made it to Columbus, I fear some would have seen that as another example of a coach's inability to succeed with tremendous talent. But to get there and bring home the hardware is what every high school player dreams of.

I remember the Yappi Poll for that Final Four: 100 votes with TM, SVSM, and BW receiving 20-30 votes each to win it all because they had the notoriety while Norwalk received 5. And those 5 were Homer votes.

Ok, I'll bite. Yes, losing Haraway is huge....sorry for being Captain Obvious. But, I think there's enough talent to challenge for a Lake Title. These kids know how to win as quite a bit play football as well.

I'm pretty sure they returned 3 starters from the previous State team, but your point is made. I will say one good player can make a difference. I'm sure you would agree.

Think he might finally be done What's your gut feeling on Coach Gray? Is there any question he will return? He retired a few years ago so that can tell you he has no place to go. I have seen some coaches that have nothing else in their life so they keep coaching to avoid becoming irrelevant. He may be that guy so he keeps going.

Regardless of any issues, I think Norwalk's on par; perhaps Clyde as well. Norwalk has nobody on par with Staveski or Jones from the games I have seen both teams play in. First of all Norwalk outside of Haraway was really young this season with 6 of top 8 being underclassman. Their second best player on the roster is Chapin who was a 15 year sophomore. Also in the rotation was a 14 year old Frosh (Minor) and another 15 year old Sophomore, (Gelhaus). So who knows how they mature as players and kids by next season. They obviously need a primary ball handler and we'll see how that goes... However if you look at Sandusky they basically got beat by 20 points each time their games vs. Norwalk so we'll have to wait until next year... I know Gray and the staff will have them ready to go next season. Basically this season once Norwalk recovered from a long football season they lost twice the rest of the season once to Stritch who was in Cbus and South who rolled by 20 points yesterday to a state title game. So I would wait to see who's on par with who until next season...

Nobody returning on Norwalk's roster is currently on par with Staveskie and Jones. Also, of the top 8, 2 were seniors and 3 were juniors so they would not be considered "really young". The 2 sophs were used in a big way but the freshman, who has good promise, was not counted on so his minutes were all about learning and he could be very helpful next season. From this years teal you lose over 40% of the scoring, over 26% or the rebounding, 50% of the steals and assists and maybe 98% of the ball handling. I agree with you portwalk, it is a little early to be pointing out where this team will be next season.

Okay we will agree to disagree on whether they were young, and I'll respond by covering things that need to happen for Norwalk to be a solid team next year.
Obringer, Sowder & Lacy all need to take more of a leadership role next year as this will be their seniors. All made strides this season however Obringer has to become a double digit scorer each night as does Lacy on most nights. Sowder is, and will be an excellent defender, and needs to contribute more on O as well..
Chapin needs to realize he will be their main option on Offense and play as such. Gellhaus needs to take much more of a ball handling role as do others as it will be more of a group effort next season. Minor needs to become the offensive punch in the post when needed and continue to develop.
One thing is for sure they will NOT be a young team next season as I look for Steve to play 6-8 with the core being seniors. So it will be a fun watch to see what happens...

With our style and defense, we'll be fine. I have no problem winning every game, 38-34 fashion.

Your making a prediction, I'm giving current facts. The 2 from Sandusky were given multiple awards and recognition ahead of anyone returning for Norwalk so they are not on par. In 9 months who knows.

I think Chapin fits the category. For some reason in today's world if you give credit to someone it is taken as an insult to someone else. This may be one of those times. Staveskie and Jones were both first team all league. Chapin was second team. So they are not "on par".
