If anything it shows how important Kyle Young is to this team. But you're right, seems like a team regressing at present. Carton next to nothing Liddell next to nothing The elder Wesson next to nothing. Washington next to nothing. Walker nothing. Muhammad nothing.

The huge slide and regression continues. No one can shoot from the outside. Holtmann needs to start recruiting some pure shooters.
Muhammad still brings nothing to this team other than some hustle plays. He has one of the ugliest jump shots.
Earlier I made a comparison of Carton to Mike Conley. I’m going to retract that statement. Carton has a long ways to go before he’s at Conley status.
Ahrens should just transfer at the end of the season. He truly doesn’t belong on a Big Ten team.

Really crazy to think this is the same team that was #1 in the country at one point.

There were times tonight when they didn't have a player on the floor over 6-6. More like a high school team than a Big Ten team. AND they could have used some high school 3-point shooters.

I'm gonna reserve judgement until Kyle Young returns. He's a glue type player that does a lot of everything that this team is missing right now. That being said, I think we can play better all around. Watching Kaleb play at this very second, who and why would anyone draft him in the first round of the NBA as any early entry. Kid needs to get a whole lot better in my opinion. And,,the talk of DJ Carton being a one and done also seems unrealistic the way he looks too.
I do have faith in the coaching staff to get it fixed once they get a little healthier. We didn't suddenly become an un talented team.

Agree on Kyle Young, he changes the whole dynamic of the team.
Also agree on Wesson, I don’t get how he’s a first round pick either. What position would he guard in the NBA?
The offense just struggles so much, we just don’t have anyone currently that can consistently knock down outside shots or shoot off the dribble.

Every B1G team is going to finish conference play .500.
Defense across the conference is so good.
Washington hasn't looked the same since he was injured.
What was the last game OSU played with all 5 of it's normal starters?
Team leader in assists (Walker) averages 3.2/game.
Lots of turnovers, a propensity to get 'sped up' on offense.
Need to learn how to win late. Lots of young guys with lots of time to improve. I don't think anyone will want to see them in the tourney. Else, have to question Holtmann a bit more..

Walker needs to worry more about being a true PG and average at least 5 assists/game instead of a scoring PG and taking bad shots.

Maryland gets beat by almost 20 last night by unranked Iowa. Such a crazy league.

Holtmann is obviously a good choice for our coach after Matta but at what point do we start to question the whole staff a bit? Where is the development of the players? I think Muhammad is regressing each game, he still brings nothing to this team.
Carton is regressing as well in my opinion. If he wants to be in the nba someday he has a lot to work on.
Same for Wesson, I just don’t see how he is a draft pick right now.

I just read they only made 6 field goals the whole second half. Better start developing these players better or recruit more offensive minded players.

They also missed a total of 7 And 1's and front end of 1 and 1's. Just make those and without making another field goal they win. This team hasn't been built to be physical or take it to the hole with other Big Ten teams. If they can't make a high % of their 3-pointers they don't have a chance. I know Ohio State is a football school, but there's no excuse for not recruiting tall and physical players at all positions like other Big Ten coaches do. This is a very offensively challenged team. Just as bad or worse than previous coaches teams. If they don't win ALL of their home games the rest of the way, they won't make the tournament

If they make some of those free throws, it changes how the rest of the game is played out. So instead of rebounding a miss, they inbound it and do something completely different. The game ends up completely different. But none the less, make free throws. It helps. Just ask Willard last night against Margaretta.

Can't buy the FT thing because IND missed a bunch too. We just need K Young to be what he was and we need D Wash to be what he was. Missing those two guys on the offensive end.
And the Carton to's?? My gosh, he's just dribbling and the ball gets away from him. Crazy.

Carton is disappointing me a bit right now as I was expecting maybe a little more from him. He was very highly regarded coming out of high school, definitely isn’t playing to his potential on a consistent basis.

Willard made 73% of their free throws last night, better than Ohio State, but weren't up to doing it at crunch time. If they had, they would have been over 80%.

My point still stands though with Ohio State, they may not have won even if they had shot free throws better.

That was not a fun basketball game to watch. Was at the game. Can confirm. IU shot 2x as many FTs as OSU in the first half. In the first 24 mins of the game they’d called 2x fouls on OSU. Indiana could’ve won by 25. There were spells where it get like OSU could’ve gone up 15 too. Duane Washington hardly played in the second half, anyone know why?

Heard today from a reliable source Washington was benched for a lack of effort.

Benched for not playing defense to Holtmann standards.

Lol we need more shooters unfortunately.
Ohio State Lessing this game easily. I’m not going to get too excited about it as you can see Nebraska just isn’t very good. This is what the Buckeyes needed though, a game like this to get back on track and get the offense going a little. Hopefully it carries over into Saturday.
I’d keep starting Carton and Walker too. Those two bring just as much as Washington and Muhammad do, maybe even more.

I'd start Muhammad for defense, but I'd tell him he was out of the game as soon as chucked up a 3-pointer.

Today’s game is the reason why I didn’t get too excited about the Nebraska earlier this week. This team still has a lot of issues. I can’t wrap my head around Kaleb Wesson being on an nba team next year, what are they seeing? And we still don’t have a consistent scorer outside of him though. Muhammad’s slump isn’t even a slump anymore in my opinion, he hasn’t been right since about game 10 of last year.

The Minn game on Dec 14 or so started a downward spiral. I was really surprised at how poorly they played in that game. We were better against UK,,but since then we've been fair to bad almost every game. There's got to be something to this. Even watching Holtmans' body language,,it's different during these games. He looks completely frustrated and almost beaten.
Hate to say this,,but the way we've played here the last 8-9 games reminds me of Matta's last couple seasons. Shortfall in effort and players not even doing basic things well. For example,,,not setting good picks. Not fighting through picks on defense. Not rotating on help defense. Dribbling the ball on top and getting it stolen with minimal pressure. Ugly.
