Probably best half osu has played both offensively and defensively in awhile. Can they hold on?

Probably best half osu has played both offensively and defensively in awhile. Can they hold on? They did. Pretty solid game overall, Muhammad is really playing well as of late. Maybe he’s finally over that slump from midway through last season. Hopefully he can keep it up. Hope that Kyle Young isn’t out too long too or that the injury isn’t too serious. Unfortunately for him it seems like he is injury prone as he has probably been the most injured player over his 3 seasons. They all are legit injuries but it sucks that he seems to be the most prone to them.

Has anyone heard on the injury to young? He is a steadying influence for the team imo. Osu needs similar efforts from everyone like today to finish the regular season anduildfor the tournaments. Here's hoping this isn't just anoterpeak in the roller coasterseason.

That should make him done for the season. Will the committee take that into consideration, as well as Carton's mental health?

What portion of the game did Kyle injure his ankle? Disappointed I missed the game on Sunday.

It was late first half. It was actually a strain of an earlier injury according to the OSU hoops guy on Rivals. He seemed to think it wasn't overly serious. Depends how quick of a healer Young is with an ankle sprain.
I thought our 3 guards of Luther, CJ and DWash all played really well. Especially Luther who was very active in all phases. Biggest aspect was they made the FT's when the game was on the line. Guard play is so very important.
To think we did this without DJ Carton and Young is encouraging. There's also 2 guys on the bench, the Cal transfer and Mussa Jallow along with the incoming 2 Freshman to help out next year. What a strange season of highs and lows and now highs again.

Sadly the best thing to happen to this team was Carton stepping away. Cut down the turnovers and shortened the rotation. Addition by subtraction.

True, which is kinda sad because when he was on --he was fantastic--but when he was off he couldn't dribble without losing control of the ball. Our entire guard rotation has almost gone through this type of on off on off on performances.
Luther played about as well as he could I think. The MD guards were very good too.

Good win today over Michigan with basically 6 players(Ahrens only played a few minutes). Young is obviously a huge part of the team but the three guard lineup with Muhammad, Walker, and Washington actually plays pretty well together. I’ve been pretty critical of Muhammad this year but he has been playing really well lately and the announcers pointed out that he has made 24 straight free throws dating back to late December. Hopefully they keep rolling and into the big ten tourney and ncaa tourney.

I was thinking the other day. This turn around started around the time Carton left the team. Watching games when both were playing, it seemed like the competition between the 2 for playing time at PG was more of a dynamic than playing together for the good of team. Walker is playing MUCH better now that Carton isn't around. Not saying either player was at fault, but something didn't feel right before. What do you think Ron?
The Big Ten Tournament should be very competitive and interesting. We all know how hard it is to win on the road this year in the Big Ten and this is undoubtedly the deepest the Big Ten has ever been, top to bottom. There won't be any home court advantage at neutral site Indy. With difficulty, the cream should rise to the top, as they say in the mid-west.

Unfortunately it does seem like they have been playing better since Carton left. I don’t think it’s necessarily him but with the shortened bench and less rotations they’ve been able to get in a better flow and chemistry. And Walker knows he has to take control and know he doesn’t have a true PG behind him on the bench. If Carton does come back this season it’ll be interesting to see how they use him.

he won't be back this season, at least that is what I am hearing...and possibly not back to basketball at all, is also what I am hearing, although those sources are very vague and probably just guessing

The shorter bench has been a plus. Not that any one player has been the reason.

a lot of people were surprised he returned to classes (here in Columbus) this year, which can only be a good sign, but some i talk to say the issues he is/was having were basketball related, i.e. depression/anxiety/alienation, and that getting away from that has been good for him
just hope the kid is healthy, mental issues can be a terrible burden for sure

He had the same issues his Senior year in high school. Not curable, but with constant counseling and medication it can be controlled. I'm sure he'd hate to give up basketball, but he needs to think about what's best for the entirety of his life. Who knows, giving up basketball could be worse for his mental stability.

Where are you seeing that about Carton’s senior year? I have never seen anything about that and he never missed any games.

I am assuming OSU is providing counseling and therapy, along with the necessary medication. Returning to class, getting back into a routine, is a step in the right direction. The rigors of a student/athlete are demanding, too demanding for those that are struggling with issues.

First I want to say I hope he gets better. Mental health is a real issue in this country. That being said what do you do if you’re Hotlmann? Let it ride out one more season with Walker and Washington returning and Johnson coming in ‘21? Kinda feels like Carton ends up closer to home, which may be best for him

Where are you seeing that about Carton’s senior year? I have never seen anything about that and he never missed any games. Not missing an Iowa high school game when a Senior, doesn't mean there wasn't a mental health issue. Playing a lot as a Freshman in the Big Ten is a different animal. These things just don't crop up overnight. They can build to a breaking point I read an article where DJ's mother mentioned the issue was there last year.
