Any local transfer news? There was talk of the big kid from Carey moving to Upper. I am pretty sure the Winslow twins are staying at St. Paul.

That’s good news. We know what is wrong with the Dawson kid, where was the Addelman kid? Key to next year may be the bench, how’d they look? Addelman had travel baseball commitments, I was told. Makes sense, as he is one helluva baseball player....his best sport. Dont know alot of details on how the bench played, just heard they were short handed at the post....did here Cok played physical and did well, Meisner gave good minutes at the point when giving Parrot a rest, Weiss gave good minutes inside as well. I agree, our bench needs to develop quickly for us to have a repeat of last year. Thanks C5. sounds like we did pretty well. good to hear other kids are stepping in nicely as we’ll need that this year with the seniors we lost. Have a good one.

I am pretty sure the Winslow twins are staying at St. Paul. N10 schools are happy to hear this. From what I have heard (very reliable source). Upper having a great June. Missing a few players at each different team camp/shoot-out. Was 1 of 3 schools to go 6-0 at Findlay Team Camp vs Multiple D1 schools (lost in tourney to New Albany w/out Vent). Won Elmwood Shoot-out beat Napoleon, Convoy Crestview & Sylvania Northview. Went 4-0 at Wooster Shootout beating Medina Buckeye & North Canton. At Eastern Ohio with only 7 missing a couple key players. Beat Canton McKinley, Lakewood, John Glenn and from the report I got killed Shelby & South Central. Winslow said this is the best and most athletic team he has coached at Upper.

The D1 schools they beat at Findlay were Mansfield Madison and Anthony Wayne. They did play a 3rd D1 school in the first game of the Findlay tournament but lost to New Albany. Sounds like the potential of another 20+ win season.

Dude, I stand somewhat corrected. The 6pt loss to New Albany was without Vent.

Seen many teams have success in the summer that play the way Upper does. Tough to plan for and they create bad play from their opponents. Regular season can be a different task as Winslow already knows.

Went to 4 team open gym/scrimmage in Ontario tonite, just getting home, will recap in a bit. 4 Teams.....Ontario, Willard, Buckeye Central and Hillsdale. Each team played each other twice, 15 minutes quarters, running clock. After 1st round Willard went 2-1, thumping both Hillsdale and BC but losing to Ontario by 5. After 2nd round, Willard finished 5-1, thumping all 3 teams pretty easily....including Ontario 15-2. It should be noted, Ontario was playing without their best player, Griffin, due to an injury.

Overall, I was encouraged by Willards play. At times they lapsed on defense, but that can be expected in an open gym atmosphere with very little coaching going on. Baldridge was extremely aggressive, and pretty much scored at will. Coop wasnt shooting particularly well, but played well and shared the ball. Paxton didnt shoot great either, but drove to the hole alot and finished well, also made some great passes. Myles is always consistent and was again tonite. I was most impressed with the bench, Meisner (shot well), Cok and Weiss ( both played the post well, rebounded well), Addelman ( does almost everything pretty good, runs the floor, physical, defends decent). All in all, it was fun to watch Willard handle BC and Hillsdale rather easily, as well as compete very well against a short handed Ontario team thats gonna be very good next year.

Ontario will run 7-8 of those during the month of June so at this date towards the end of the month they may have been missing more than just one guy that will be a varsity player. Which could be the same for traveling Hillsdale and Buckeye Central. Although I like reading about the summer events I can't help but remember the undefeated pre-season of the 2017 Browns.

What is Shaver's injury?
The football team had a practice Tuesday. The QB, All-league DB and All-league WR also play bball.
The 3rd best player in their good Junior class plays baseball. After 2 injuries, I heard he might just play baseball.
Did Chance Mott play? He's just coming off rehab for an ACL operation, after missing all of last season.
Did they have a skinny 6-4 Soph black combo guard there? Did they have a 6-5 broad shouldered Soph post there? Both could contribute this year

The big soph (Rathburn) played JV, surprised by that as he is not bad, also plays on my AAU team so I know he is capable. Not sure about the rest you questioned.

10 days for the coaches to get a glimpse of the winter ahead, anybody seeing or hearing anything? Flashes will likely win 12-14 games this year. I said 16 last year so I was within 20%, won 19 in the regular season if I'm not mistaken. Have some big shoes to fill. The paxton kid will likely fill the void for the polacheck kid and do okay, shooting will need to improve from last year but I'm sure that was nerves as a freshman. There is no one going to fill the void of the triplet kid graduating and he gave us 6-7 more wins last year. I feel your overlooking the talent that's coming back. Devon was a tremendous athlete and will be missed.we are still a very athletic team.I still think we will be better this year.im not being a homer when I say that.whoever plays the 5 spot for us does not and will not be what Devon brought to the table.but what he needs to be is a strong defender and rebounder. Although the Dawson kid has an edge on the rest of the kids fighting for that spot I personally like adelman.the kid is strong and seems to always be in right spot and has a nose for the ball.id like to see trey to be another in your face defender.we are going to need him to knock down some jumpers.treys court vision and passing ability is very strong as well.miles will be miles. Great defender and does all the dirty work.id like to see him develope a fifteen footer.that brings me to our two seniors.they must bring it every nite. Consistency is the name of the game.we new what we were getting when Derek,Nick, and Jimmy hit the floor.and no I'm not comparing these boys to them.for us to make a run at this thing seniors can take you a long way.aka Coldwater.i haven't looked at the schedule but 12 to 14 wins would be a major letdown.we shouldn't lose a league game so there's 10 right there.go flashes.

Hey legend, not trying to belittle anyone or make anyone on here seem like i'm a debby downer about the potential for our Flashes this year. I know we have a solid 3 coming back from last year with experience but we have to understand that the bench last year was much stronger. The three will be the three and I think they will be a little better but the two that round out that starting 5 need to be scorers, plain and simple. Devon brought more than scoring, he brought a defensive presence that challenged any big man on the floor, we don't have that this year (skeeter can only do so much). I like the paxton kid at the 1 spot because he is more productive there (needs to be in the mix more) and he needs to be pushing the ball and does see the floor great (i know it won't happen, but again just my opinion). Hearing the meisner kid and cok kid have played well according to C5, that is good because they both can score and have decent outside shots beyond the arch (we need that). Should be a fun year but I'm sticking to my 12-14 games (that is a solid season with what we lost).

We SHOULD sweep the conference games, although Margaretta and Oak Harbor will be competetive, Huron as well. Of the 12 non conference games, we SHOULD win 8 if playing decent....Bucyrus, Carey, Buckeye Central, St. Paul, Bellevue, Northwestern, Wynford, & Tiffin. That's 18 wins. The other 4 non conference games are toss-ups.... Upper, Norwalk, Perkins & Shelby. I'm thinking we win a couple toss-up games, but lose a couple SHOULD win games, and finish the regular season 18-4.

All things that can be improved before the season starts so I hope you are correct and they go 18-4, that would be great.I'm leaning towards that 14 number but I want to see how these jv players that will be playing more varsity minutes this year have developed over the summer. Stay dry!

Did the 3 team scrimmage happen yesterday? WHS SC and CC Yep, it happened. Each team played each other in a full game setting with 15 minute halfs, referees, foul shots, and a functioning scoreboard. Willard lost to Colonel Crawford in the first game by 5. South Central beat Colonel Crawford by 8 in the 2nd game. Willard beat South Central by 17 in the 3rd game.

The twins will add a low post presence Oak Harbor needs but Oak Harbor doesn’t exactly feature much of a low post game.
