Hey Willard, what's the girls name and where did she come from? Brienna Trumpower. She lives in Mansfield and has been home schooled. An eight grader, she won the Mile at the New Balance Junior High National Championships in 5:04.89, three seconds ahead of 2nd place. That equates to a 5:02 1600 Meters, which would have placed 4th at the DII Ohio High School State Meet this year. Her time was a PR by 8 seconds, as she has not run against much competition during the school year. The reason her parents have enrolled her at Ontario for her Freshman year. She also won the 1500 Meters at the meet by 3 seconds. Google her, she was interviewed after her win, that's where she announced she was going to Ontario this year.

Any other new talent move into or up from middle school in the MOAC ?
If I remember right didn't the Pleasant girls go 1-2-3 at the middle school meet last year but I'm thinking they were all 7th graders.

She ran for Mansfield Christian, but was home schooled. She is a Mansfield Christian student whose family participates in the homeschool academy. This means she is enrolled in a couple routine classes at MCS but receives the beef of her classes at home or online. This allows her and her family to participate in the school's social events and the extra curricular things the school offers. Very nice people and great kids.

Nice, They will have to work hard this season to beat them at the state meet. Lex coach is great at peaking her runners the last two – three weeks when it counts. I am rooting for the Ontario girls hope they can do it. How did Trumpower run.

Was this season's OHSAA early season meet the smallest it has ever been? Maybe this meet is losing its excitement for some. I can remember this meet having close to 30 teams but this year only 14.

She has a Senior sister Carolina that placed 8th and #3 for the team. She will not be eligible for the State Meet since she's a transfer. Ontario's #5 last year has an injury and didn't run. She has to be healthy and drop her time from her Freshman year for Ontario to have any chance to finish ahead of Lex at State.

DI teams were in the 30's and there were more DIII teams than DII teams. Maybe DII schools were scared off by 2 year in a row State Champ Lex AND Ontario both being there this year.

Ontario girls win the Ashland Invitation DII-DIII event with 37, 74 points ahead of second place. They had 3 of the top 5 runners, but probably could have had 5 of the top 7. Their #3, Soph Ellie Mauer, was ill and didn't run. Their #1 and team captain Grace Mauer took one for the team when she decided to help transfer from Ashland Soph Madison Genders to a season PR by running with her for most of the race, instead of trying to win the race, she still finished 10th. But Freshman Brienne Trumpower stepped up and won the event. Each of the first 3 races of the season she's dropped around 20 seconds as she gets used to the 5000 meters, as opposed to her best distance the 1600.

For what it's worth, Brown's time was only 1 second off of the fastest time in the country going into this past weekend.

Oh well.
