My oldest son was broadcasting the Muskingum vs. Heidelberg game yesterday and he saw some of the Heidelberg players kneeling while the national anthem was playing. He even said that this is the first time he even saw this being done on the division 3 level. He didn't like the idea of them doing this considering that he knows that on my side of the family we always had a parent, a father, grandfather, and other ancestors have fought for our country's freedom from the revolutionary war till now. It's hard not to take the people who do this out and beat the living hell out of them but we just got to remember that this is their right, no matter how right or wrong they are. This is what me and my ancestors fought for this country of ours. I wish that I was more computer knowledge so that I can insert an AMERICAN FLAG on here.

As an American we have a right to disagree. We have fought wars and lost lives for that freedom. Even though I disagree with Mr. Kapaernick, I stand by our freedom to disagree and voice our opinion.

He has all the right in the world to do what he is doing in voicing his opinion, and he is still a jack *** for choosing that particular way to do so. Fortunately, I can't get close enough to him to voice my opinion. Pretty sure I can still lay a pretty mean lick in a football uniform, although I may hurt fiercely the next day...

Mr. Kapaernik has every right to show is ***, but on his own dime and on his own time. The 49ers management or coaching staff have every right to dictate to their contracted employee, their employees mode of conduct. When he is wearing the team uniform and show up for work day in their facility, his conduct is dictated by his employer. Essentially, they own his gold plated butt.

Yes, they own his gold plated butt. At the pay scale they are paying this 'average' at best QB, his actions while in the uniform are at the whim of management. Interesting (but dated) article concerning his flashy, Ft. Knox..ish contract, that turns out not quite as it reads on the cover. www.businessinsider.com/colin-kaepernick-contract-2014-12

What exactly is he protesting? The facts are out there and blacks are not being murdered by cops at alarming rates. Roughly 98% of police encounters where a person is shot and killed regardless of race, is due to criminal activity involving a gun being used against or in a threatening manner against police.

It has to be a nervously, frightening ordeal to be a cop in today's urban environment, knowing punk gangbangers are virtually everywhere, armed with loaded weapons, that wouldn't bat an eyelash at taking out a cop. A moment of hesitation may be the difference from going home to your family of loved ones or dropping to the ground as a lifeless corps.
Now that racial activists and instigators have turned up the volume of hatred toward men and women of law enforcement, going to work has gotten a whole lot scarier.

I think most people on here agree he has the right. Just because you have the right to do something doesn't mean you should use it.
If he truly wanted to draw attention to police shootings he should have used another forum. There has been more attention directed at his form of protest than his issue. That may have been his plan. Only he knows.
Being a cop is hard and dangerous. Most shootings are justified. If police believe they do a good job then they should want transparency. Dash cameras and body cameras all the time in every city every minute on the job. I don't examine partially clothed women in the office without a chaperone in the room because I want a witness. Cameras are that witness. This is an easy fix. Create a federal law enforcement group (could be a brach of the FBI). They're independent of the locals. They investigate every shooting quickly and independently and immediately make the investigation public nationally. Clear the innocent and punish the guilty.

All shootings are investigated by the departments involved and the officers are put on paid leave until the investigation is completed. At some point the county or state prosecutor can become involved. Having every officer go before a tribunal is not a very good direction to go in, in my opinion. I don't like the idea of Federal interference in state or local affairs. The individual states can handle their own affairs quite adequately and appropriately. The corruption and influence pedaling we have seen the past eight years from the U.S. Attorney Generals office has been breathtaking at times. The Feds need to keep their noses out of state affairs, except in rare circumstances.

It could be a state agency. I just think it has to be independent of the of the force the shooter is a part of.

Of the 42 million encounters last year between citizens and law enforcement, there were an estimated 30 unjustified shootings. Play the lottery, you have a better shot.

Just days ago, two officers shot and killed and another injured in Palm Springs, California. Where is the outrage? Story is relegated to page two of the local paper.

Now I see Mike Evans is kneeling to protest Trumps election. The NFL ratings will continue to drop. People just want to watch games, not politicized sporting events.

The Sacramento Bee is reporting that Kap has never registered to vote in California. Why didn't the press investigate and reveal this in the first place. surely, there are some really good investigative reporters out there with some curiosity as to Kapaernik's voting status. This would have taken all the wind out his sails from the get go.....and we could all move on.

So what we really have here is a bunch of millennial's on the football field pretty much acting like the college students crying and needs weeks off of class because of the election. Just one more reason the NFL ratings will continue to suffer.
