Expect Justin to start the 1st half and if the score is lopsided by half, getting backups on the field 2nd half. Same for RB's. There is a necessity to get early game experience and test the young players on both sides of the ball, from game one.

If Justin isn't playing at a high level he will play more than a half. It is WAY more important to get him snaps than the back ups.

the way our D played last year i am more interested in seeing them play vs a talented offensive coach who will be throwing the book at us and had all summer to gimmick
i expect this game to be a little too competitive and it kind of scares me a little bit

An inexperienced O-line Lost their 3 best wide receivers to the NFL. And a QB that's only been on campus 7 months. The D has a ton of experience at all 3 position groups. My hope is the new coaches on defense and a new concept will make a big improvement slowing down a run game and eliminating all the pass interference and holding penalties by the DBs.

if all they do is get the gd linebackers off the line of scrimmage that will be a huge win
hearing that Borland is just destroying it in workouts and practices after some early talk of him being pushed for a starting job...hearing that his name is at the top of every competitive list he is a part of
i expect the offense to be a work in progress for the reasons you mentioned, which just makes me all the more anxious to see out D
This would be a good year to Tressel Ball the fuq out of every possession and lean on our D, so i reckon if our D steps up and plays to their talent level we should be able to win some 17-14 games on some good old fashioned Terrelle Pryor 3rd and 7 scrambles for 1st downs. Best bet for us this year is to ride the D and Special Teams and Fields getaway sticks to some tough wins. D has to be there.

Tress would love their punter Drue Chrisman. One of the most accurate inside the 20 punters around. He'd also probably win all water bottle flipping competitions.

If FAU is going to slow down OSU they better find some size upfront for that 3 man front. A 250 pound DE in a 3 man front isn’t going to get it done Kiffin.

OSU scoring at will and the defense has been pitching a shutout so far. Of course, it’s not quite 6 minutes into the game and 21-0. Wow...

The defense is as I would expect with two coaches from Meatchicken on staff. This group is worse off than when Fickle was the DC. Day seemed to execute his pre game plans well but couldn’t adjust to the FAU adjustments. Fields got smacked twice and then vanished. I hope this is first game jitters. Maybe Day put it in neutral too soon. Idk but this does not look like a Big 10 championship team.

It’s a good thing kiffin and fau had a late nite on high st. last nite and didn’t show up to play till after the 1st qtr or the bucks might of started season with a big fat L. This has the making of the J.T. era all over again. Fields a better passer but slow in decision making imo but i will give him a few more games before passing any judgement. Go Bucks!! A win is a win. O-line has some work to do.

Fields has only been on the Ohio State campus 7 months, has never started a game. JT had been on campus for a year and a half before his first start. Haskins had been on campus for over 2 years before his first start. Fields was 19 of 26 with 4 TD passes and 0 INTs. What's the matter with those stats?? Fields completed a higher % and had a higher QB rating than Haskins had in his first game. Passing yardage and rushing yardage was almost exactly the same. Forget Fields doing what Haskins did last year. Haskins was a Statue pocket passer, Fields might be the fasted QB in the country.
Finger, you must have been watching a replay of a game from last year! The defense looks FAR BETTER than last year. Last year only Baylor and Wake Forest gave up more plays of 30+ yards than Ohio State. last year Ohio State ranked 89th in the country in average yards/play given up. Today they gave up zero plays of 30+ yards. The D only gave up 228 total yards to FA. Remember all of those long runs the D gave up last year? FA had 22 TOTAL yards rushing for an average of .07 yards/rush. Ohio State had 469 total yards.

Ohio State fans got a glimpse of what a Greg Mattison defense looks like this afternoon. He’ll cut down on the 20+ yard chunk plays but get used to having what FAU did in the second half all year long. Matti is most definitely a bend but don’t break type of DC.
Fields was alright but he wasn’t the same after he finally got hit a few times. I’ll be curious to see how he fares going forward when he doesn’t have a clean pocket most of the day like he did today.
Chase Young is without question a top 10 pick

Justin Fields showed me more than I was expecting. Confident and patient in the pocket, much more reluctant to abandon the pass and tuck and run than JT. His throws are a receivers dream. Very accurate, a nice soft, catchable velocity. Inexperienced QB's thrown into the fire, often tend to overthrow, or zing it. His throwing touch is very much like Haskins.
One can't get too critical of the offense losing it's edge after 4 quick scores. The starting unit executed as well as one would ever expect on season opener. Up four scores, substitutions here and there showed it's effect. Master Teague had some impressive runs and made a case for himself. The defense is a great improvement from last year. Much quicker to the ball and the LB play was excellent. Good to see the gang tackling of old. Browning continues to impress and should earn Borland more time on the bench.
A lot of outstanding talent everywhere, but also, lot of room for improvement. It's easy to forget this is a very young football team and should make a dramatic improvement from week 1 to week 2.
Chase Young is virtually unstoppable and is every opponents worst nightmare. Fully expect him to be a top 3 pick, when the time comes.
