BW with a long punt return to the Shelby 21. Whippets are gassed. Lots of penalties and the BW depth is starting to hurt Shelby.

Ball game. Final score 21-14 Big Walnut. Winnable game for Shelby but penalties and some poor play calling down the stretch cost them this one.

Sounds like they lost to a better team?

My friends at the game felt Shelby was entirely capable of winning. Based on the posters here, it sounds like they simply couldn't keep up with D2 depth, and it outstripped their talent.

They tried too many qb keepers when the offense should of been utilized different...poor play calling or decision making on the whippets

From perspective on the radio, Shelby committed too many penalties. No excuses, as it sounded ugly.

Better team...football tradition. It was a one touchdown football game. 1-2 plays and it’s a different outcome. Pretty evenly matched. One made too many mental errors.

Better teams find a way to win. Does the “better team” always win? Who always wins when two teams are evenly matched? I’m not making excuses for Shelby. I didn’t even see this game. We just can’t draw a lot on conclusions about two teams from a single game with a one TD score differential. We can draw some conclusions about each team individually. Shelby needs to clean up the penalties. There may have been some play calling or option reading issues. You cannot conclude that one team is significantly better than the other. You cannot conclude that one team has a significantly better tradition. One game. One TD score differential.

Good teams can lose games but the team that plays the better game wins so you could say the better team wins if you feel they are evenly matched. I say when 2 schools who have football tradition meet up it can be a good game and many conclusions can be made. Much more than from a football team playing teams that are without football tradition.
