Click bait. Doesn't help the overall picture. If teams break off, then there is no difference then it is now. Still not going to get enough teams to get together any league. Big picture - think of the other sports for a change! Wrestling, track, CC, swimming, golf, etc - all good events. Do you think the smaller schools want 8 small schools for wrestling? They wrestled 25 MATCHES for a league tournament at the last River tourney. Football is frustrating but it is what it is. Everyone has ten games. Either a lot of people sit in the room monthly and witness it firsthand account and mention it on here, but the reality is a lot different than what it is.

So Perkins and Clyde and Bellevue are big boys, but Huron and Edison aren't, even though all 5 teams are in region 14? Joe should stick to his SP roots. I don't hear any other sports complaining, just football, which tends to drive things.

Doesn’t Clyde play Fremont Ross in other sports ? Why not football? Maybe Clyde should be the one in Trac and slip Fremont in their place lol ...The way it was said on another thread is Clyde is the ones always whining about everything maybe it’s time for them to leave the SBC ?I guess Clyde don’t need the gate money like Fremont would bring in for them and heck I see CLYDE wants a school levy to pass so money would mean everything to them to help poor ole Clyde out !! Just think of the gas money and other things CLYDE would save on by not traveling to Toledo or other 2 hr drives they go to Toledo is only an hr or so from Clyde... I just don’t get it Clyde wants money but don’t want to save money

Multiple division leagues making decisions for schools ranging from the size of Columbian or Norwalk to the size of SMCC or SJCC can be and is very difficult. Many multi-division leagues have similar sized schools they govern. This can allow for adjustments to be made within the divisions without much concern. The SBC is trying to govern 3 separate leagues under one blanket for the sole purpose of staying alive. There are plenty of schools looking for a good fit.

When non-league games were scheduled a few years ago Clyde, Perkins were D3 and Bellevue is a fringe D3/D4 school. Edison is a fringe D4/D5 school. Huron is a smaller D4 school.

The only answer I have is a couple of us are crossing over, and a couple are not.. Everyone looks at this enrollment thing..that isn't it.. Its what shape is the program in? Worried about what Fremont Ross COULD become, verses what they are now.. Couple programs barely have enough for JV.. So their depth is not very good..therefore they're not going to play a smash mouth game against a lake team.. I don't even want more than a couple games against the Lake.. Everyone looks out for their own program.. And when they don't think its in the best of their interest, then so be it..

Poor reporter can't find food on the way to the game. Pack your lunch/dinner and get to work. Concession stands are available even at the smallest rural schools. Somehow Country Boys SURVIVE. This whole thread is hilarious with an article to add humor to the situation. People are upset the neighboring schools won't play them because it will save bus money and get bigger gates. Playoff points only come from wins not because there are big gate or a short bus trip points. Bottom line is there are NO points for losses. Each school evaluates their conference schedule and then makes choices on non-conference games based upon the potential to win and get the most points possible (long-term not just based upon this year) and sometimes that's not enough to make the playoffs. And then a suggestion that Lake schools leave the SBC. If there was a possibility of this then those schools would not be in their current predicament.

Nothing happens fast when it comes to changing leagues but it sounds like it will happen.

Sounds like it because Joe Centers wrote it should? ClydeSBCFan is spot-on with two important points.
1. The reality of the cohesion is much different than it may appear or sound. 2. The strength of the SBC is rooted in everything but football, especially wrestling, track and all the other conference tournament sports. This is how and why the super-league idea came to fruition and the reason it stays together.

Joe Centers has nothing to say about it. The cohesion is not consistent among all schools. The SBC super-league came about because leagues were failing and it was a quick solution for many schools with limited options. Options are always changing.

Add Ross, add BG, Clay, Maumee, heck, add them all! That includes AW/Central Catholic/Whitmer and the OCC. We'll call it TAC. Tough A_s Conference.

Reading that article was painful. That Joe Centers guy sounds like a Millennial, a total crybaby wuss. I would like to thank Norwalk for having balls of steel in the 1980's, 1990's and 2000's. They had a tough time and never left the NOL, they stuck it out, turned it around and now look at them. All these teams crying about what SBC Division they are in is a total disgrace, especially the ones that are in Division 4 complaining about the possibility of playing another Division 4 team in the regular season.
The OHSAA has 7 divisions and teams in D4 are complaining about the possibility of playing a fellow D4 team or an unthinkable game vs a D3 team. Oh my, so scary. And we have D3 teams crying that D4 teams won't play them, meanwhile they are peeing down their leg at the possibility of having to play a crappy D2 team like Fremont Ross.
40 years ago in 1980 D1 Tiffin Columbian D2 Galion D2 Shelby D3 Bellevue D3 Norwalk D3 Willard D3 Upper Sandusky D3 Bucyrus So that you young bucks understand D3 back then is like D4 now and a D1 Tiffin Columbian back then would be D2 now. There were 5 divisions in 1980 not 7 like there are now.
Willard, Upper and Bucyrus played 2 divisions up to play Tiffin and did that for 70 years and no one changed leagues because they lost 3 games in a row to a team and decided they just couldn't compete with so and so. Men were men not fairies back then.

I remember Rambo when only 2 teams per region made the playoffs in the 80’s. It was different back then. As the playoffs expanded bigger schools proposed blowing up leagues when small schools who didn’t win much gave them no point value. Then smaller schools weighed their options too. Blame small schools all you want but there was fear of being left out and when meetings among big schools only occurred it started to look like reality. Blame the small schools all you want but they need to look out for themselves as well. The story of how we got here is full of many individual experiences while many want an easy version that only explains their desires.

They were blessed, with Sandusky, to reign supreme in the best conference this general area has seen, the Buckeye. Times are different, and this proposed idea leads to even more competitive nature to allow anyone to dominate.

Sbc lake is stuck right now playing 5 non conference games in football, let's see how long that lasts before administrators wake up.Good article.I find it funny.whats sad is a once strong and proud Willard football program can't even beat gibsonburg, gibsonburg if they make playoffs will just lose like always. .Much like fostoria as also with willard simply both towns have died.Upper left and shelby .So sbc lake is stuck.why did upper leave? Shelby? Pastuer greener?

They're up there in all-time wins due to being consistent in 6-9 win range, but few beyond that due to lack of playoff appearances and wins. Hard to believe Ross has never made postseason on consecutive years, nor more than 2 in a decade. Highest seasonal win total, 10 done 5 times. Just about every school not named Danbury, Lakota, Plymouth has achieved more than this from general area.

Simple Solution - 1 MANDATORY cross-over for Lake and Bay teams - Who you play in cross-over is based off of previous season standings. 1st in Lake plays 1st in Bay. 7th in Lake plays 7th in Bay. Weeks 1-3 non-Conf, weeks 4-10 Conf games
SBC Lake (7 teams) Fremont Ross - added Sandusky Perkins Norwalk Clyde Bellevue Tiffin Columbian
SBC Bay (7 teams) Oak Harbor Vermilion Huron Edison Port Clinton Willard Lakota - bumped up
SBC River (8 teams) Tiffin Calvert Hopewell-Loudon Gibsonburg Fremont St Joe Margaretta Seneca East - added Buckeye Central - added SMCC - back to 11 man football
