If Bellevue wants postseason, they cannot afford another slip up against Perkins. It cost the Redmen last season.

If Bellevue wants postseason, they cannot afford another slip up against Perkins. It cost the Redmen last season. Actually, I don't think that's accurate. It would have been close but I think Bryan would have still be ahead of them. Beating Perkins would have gave them 10 more points or 1.0 average increase. Bryan was more than 1.0 points ahead of them. If that fifth win was vs West Holmes or any of their other losses, they would have made it at 5-5. Just not Perkins. I am not certain but that's what I understood it to be.

Will Bellevue be healthy for this one? Doubtful, but the question is....Will they need to be?

Scoreless end 1.
Bellevue has muffed a punt, fumbled, and turned it over on downs

125 penalty yards for Perkins. Very undisciplined effort from Perkins.

I've been to a lot of football games over the years.............a LOT. THIS was the worst officiating I've ever seen. That's all I'll say.

Ok, I was listening on the radio, seemed to be a lot of the 15 yard variety? The guys on the radio seemed adamant that a couple were pretty obvious, maybe the refs way of keeping the game in check, more than one hot-head on that team. the Bellevue players were probably talking as well. IDK

Long pass by Bellevue....CLEARLY dropped, called reception.......roughing the kicker, not called........Pirates punted, Bellevue player touched ball with his hand, Perkins recovered, ball given to Bellevue......clean tackle by Perkins, called horse collar.......several other calls like that.....not blaming Bellevue, didn't expect Pirates to win, but those calls were ridiculous.

I heard the guys on the radio state that they reviewed that pass drop at half time and it was clearly a dropped pass, not even close to a reception. You get that from time to time, I try not to be too hard on the refs, I wouldn’t do that job for what they get paid. Thanks for the explanation Piratefan👍🏻

Sounds like typical Perkins. Undisciplined. Can't control emotions. Poorly coached.

Yeah, I thought it was clearly an incompletion too. At first I thought they were going to screw Bellevue by ruling it a catch, fumble, and recovery by Perkins, but they ended up screwing Perkins by ruling it a catch, fumble, and out of bounds and Bellevue ball. Should have been 3rd and 10 back at the original LOS.
Probably the funniest gaff by the refs was when the back judge threw a flag and stopped play right as Bellevue was about to punt, then started obviously counting players on the defense, then waved off the flag.
There was no horsecollar called. The ref said over the mike it was a facemask call for the defenders hand going inside the back of the helmet. Not sure if that was accurate, since it happened so close to the Bellevue sideline that our bench players blocked my view, which means it was also around 70 yards from where the closest Pirate fans where sitting, so not sure how well your view was of it either to say it was a clean tackle.
On another note, Nasonti found himself in strange position late in the 2nd quarter: actually having timeouts to work with in an end of half situation (since we typically burn all our timeouts well before the end of any given half.) As it turned out, having those timeouts ended up biting us in the butt. Perkins had a 3rd and 5 with the clock running just over a minute left, and Nasonti called a timeout thinking we'd have a shot at getting the ball back. They picked up the 1st down on a run by the QB to right around midfield, so now we're just hoping to get to half. The next play call was a run, which seemed to say Perkins was content with getting to halftime, but the problem was this simple run ended up being a 50ish yard TD after a huge hole opened up. That made it 14-10 at half instead of 14-3.
Overall it was a pretty lackluster performance by Bellevue. I imagine they got chewed out pretty good half, as they came out with hot with 2 quick scores to start the 3rd, then just kinda coasted along after that as Perkins had a couple long clock consuming drives that ended with turnovers on downs, then added one more score late aided by several penalties.

Very very impressed by #21 Jack Howey. He was probably the most dominant player I've seen play this season. The young man looked (and played) like an old school MLB.

The concensus in the press box tonight was that this was one of the most ineffective officiating crews that we've had at FRMC Stadium in a long time.
Even though that is the case, we still have to realize that officials are folks just like us that likely worked long days, and I know for a fact they drove long distances to be in Sandusky, as I get the documentation for all of the officials we have for my script creation.
Were there some questionable calls? Surely. But there isn't much we can do about it.

I was not in attendance but from what BellevueBuckeye posted and listening to the radio announcers I believe there was a couple questionable calls especially the catch/fumble by Marshall. On that particular play the announcer said the official was way behind the play. Officiating the past 2-3yrs has seemed to go downhill ALOT. Just don’t think they are getting younger guys interested anymore. I will say however that these calls wouldn’t have changed the game outcome.
