Wynford shares first place in the Northern 10 Athletic Conference and carries a four game winning streak into a meeting with rival Colonel Crawford at the “House of Thrills” on Friday night. Coach Mohr says “This will be our toughest league game so far. Crawford has a lot going for them. They are the most talented team in the league. They are the must athletic team in the league. They are the most experienced team in the league. Physically they are the most imposing team in the league. You put those four things together and that is a pretty good basketball team. Mohr says “We are happy we are 4-1. I feel good about the fact that we are 4-1 and feel good about the improvement we have made.” Indeed. The comments were not lost on the Upper coaches and players. |

CC escaped another nailbiter last nite. Thought wynford outplayed CC most of the nite. Thought the officials called a ton of ticky tack fouls that benefited the royals most of the nite till the call at the end of the game. In a close game at end i’d rather see the kids decide the outcome. There was some contact on CC’s last shot with 2 sec to go or so but imo not enough to warrant a foul call. Thought it should of went to ot. Crall was a beast in the 1st half. Really had it going. After last nite i’d change my prediction on how league will end up. Upper Carey CC Mohawk Wynford Seneca Buckeye Ridgedale Bucyrus CC starting off the season not firing on all cylinders, much like last year. They're not doing a good job of using their length advantage and getting into the paint against zone defenses. Their shooters have been inconsistent and need to step up. Nice double league weekend pair of wins on the road for CC. Nice recovery from a tough loss for Wynford against Carey on Sat. The Royals are definitely improved from last year. They are still heavily dependent on Crall offensively though. As he goes, so will Wynford. |

Should have beat Crawford Friday night. Slow start hurt. Kind of a weak call at the end. Good OT win Saturday. Now 1/11 vs Upper. Should be able to handle them at home. They are not as good as Crawford and probably equal to Carey.

They are not as good as Crawford and probably equal to Carey. Shoulda coulda woulda.....Crawford should have made more free throws and the game wouldn't have been as close... Carey could have finished the game and not let it go to overtime but turned over the ball and let Wynford take it to overtime. I would worry more about the next 4 games before you boast about the game on the 11th. Mohawk, Crestview, River Valley and Seneca East. All could take it to the Royals. |

Be interesting to see which Mohawk team shows up tonite against the royals. If it’s the one that showed up at the”mac” then the royals will have all they can handle.

Mohr oldest coach in age not in years coached in n-10,the dean of n-10 is coach sheldon.You must know something the rest of us don’t in regards to upper. I truly hope you are right and the 2nd game between CC and wynfotd is for league title. If i were a betting man “ oh wait i am” CC handles the royals by double digits 2nd time around at the “mac”. I still believe no one gives upper much of a game other than CC. CC looked like a different team last sat at seneca. If they play any where near like that they will be a tough out. Looking for consistency in that type of performance. |

Game story and box score on crawfordcountynow.com Thanks. I wondered how the scoring broke down by scoring that much. As the head coach it must be tough to know when to pull your starters in a game when you have almost scored enough in the first quarter to win. |

From what I understand, Sheldon pulled them early third quarter. I imagine he would not want to run up the score too much , since a significant number of his students live in Bucyrus, and it is in the best interest of the community to get along. Having said that, it was a tough weekend for the Redmen, losing two games by a combined 110 points. But that is somewhat expected, since Bucyrus is so young and inexperienced. They are going to struggle this year, and probably next year. In two years, they will have grown up to be a team of juniors and seniors. If they stick with it, they might have a few brighter days ahead.

Just read that McCreary from Upper got his 1,000 point last weekend. Also I heard Vent is only 100 points away and Young is just over 200 points away. Upper could have 3 players reach 1,000 points by seasons end.
Wynford’s 1,000 point scorer Crall will be too much for Upper to stop when they meet January 11. Wynford v Crawford for the league title on 1/25.

Willard beat Upper. Tonight Margaretta beats Willard. The Royals beat Margaretta (50-44). Wynford beats Upper tomorrow night. Mohr gets win 303 and the Royals get a share of 1st Place in the N10.
