Ohio State has held a few defensive players out in anticipation of this game and the following vs UM. Baron Browning specifically and Damon Arnette recently. Obviously Chase Young was suspended and he wasn't held out by choice. Anxious to see how this unit performs after these 3 key players have sat out but are once again part of the gameplan. I kinda think Penn St is a little over rated and especially on defense we really get after them and shut them down. Unless something really crazy happens, OSU wins big once again imo.

I watch a few college games but not nearly as many as most on here so my knowledge is limited on CFBall. I did watch the Penn St-Mich game a few weeks ago as it was a night game and I was home. Penn St is way overrated. Look at the stats and you'll see Mich rolled in every category but the most important. I agree with Buckeye, even tho he could be biased Ha, OSU will roll....easily 21+.

Boy the hype for this game is great, but in reality this game could get ugly. Penn State has not been impressive at all this year. I really can’t see this being a 4 quarter game for the Buckeyes the way they’re playing.
This and the next game are going to be part of the defining moments of this team showing the country this is a Buckeye team to remember.
45-14 Buckeyes roll into TTUN week.

This will be at Noon on FOX. College Gameday will in Columbus for this game, as well as FOX's Big Noon Saturday.
Ohio State leads the all time series 20-14, and has won the last two matchups by a combined 2 points.

Penn State is your basic RPO offense and as goes Sean Clifford, so goes Penn State. I envision it not being a game that Clifford will look back on fondly. In fact, it may be a recurring nightmare for quite some time. I think the Buckeyes will contain Penn State bread and butter, which is their running game and when they have to resort to a QB that is constantly looking over his shoulder and being harrassed by a chorus of DE's, he is going to make his share of costly mistakes, throwing the football.
Barring unforeseen circumstances, like OSU turnovers in critical situations, this game could get out of hand in a hurry. I expect Penn State to try and shut down the Buckeye running game and may be somewhat effective, but their dilemma is the fact they are facing a very balanced offensive machine, that will have the ability to adapt and react to their advantage.

only concern down here is the weather which can even the playing field between differently talented teams...it's early in the week but it just has that real crappy late fall/early winter thunder dome kinda feel to it so i do expect some bad playing conditions in Cap City on Saturday and this to me is a game where Fields might have to win us one with his legs if it gets sloppy
which is ok i guess but if this was in a dome it would get real ugly real fast
OSU needs to control their emotions early because they will be chomping at the bit to finally play someone wearing a pelt they can stick on their wall.
Buckeyes 27
PSU 17

Penn St looks pretty pedestrian to me. I'll take the Buckeyes to cover the 18 point spread.

We're not going to smoke everybody every week. Sooner or later we are going to have a game with multiple turnovers. I think Penn State is a good team and they have good LBs and I think it might get sloppy enough to keep the game close. I never bet on OSU but if I were I might take the points this week. Penn State generally plays us pretty tough, they aren't going to come in here intimidated.

Rutgers covered against the Buckeyes but a 53 point line is a tough row to hoe. Weather could also play a factor on Saturday. I see 40 and rain on Saturday.

You can leave the Rutgers game out of your calculations, as most with a brain, knew coach Day was going to pull his starters, very early, which he did. Rain won't deter our passing game, but could create problems handling the football.....ready for some strip/sacks from our chorus of DE's?

Nice to be up 14-0 at half, though this definitely has that "lettin' em hang around" feel to it
Could be 35-0 if not for the fumble on the goal line, the $250 speeding ticket for doing 26 in a 25, and the missed opportunity on that deep ball before half.
edit: probably more like 28-0, more time would have elapsed preventing that last possession

Ohio State is loose and confident. All the pressure is on the Nittany Lions and if Ohio State can capitalize on their opening offensive series of the 2nd half, they will be under the gun.

The first to crack under pressure? Ryan Day, a really really bad call on 4th and 5 at the 30.

The key to the game was the turn over ratio. Buckeyes “could” have won by much much more, but they didn’t.
Hats off to Penn State who actually looked like a top 5 team.
Chase Young to me is the Heisman winner, regardless of who actually gets the trophy.
Dobbins could and would be the all time rushing leader if he played all 4 quarters and stayed another year.
I talk about a lot of if and and maybes, but this is for sure. The buckeyes don’t let misfortune dismantle their mission. It takes talent, heart and luck to win a NC and they have all three.
Here’s to TTTUN week and if you like the bums up north, I hope we break that poopy score board in that dump of a stadium.

Making it nearly impossible to have a fumble or an INT The only thing that would have given Penn State a shot, at that juncture.

Penn State rushing D highly touted and their Passing D was considered comparatively weak, and yet OSU had 61 rushing attempts (for 229) and only 22 passing attempts (for 188)
Either the game plan was to make a statement rushing on their D, or we just got too scared to pass at times, or I suppose a bit of both. Some of those 3d down QB run calls were very reminiscent of Urban's conservative mode.

Without the two fumbles this game isn’t even close. Penn State’s offense did nothing when they actually had to do a full drive or series. Easily could have been 28-3 or something like that.

Should have let Teague or J.K. run the ball or throw to the endzone. Instead we had Justin running laterally, losing yardage and exposing himself to a dangerous situation. I have had zero issues with our playcalling all season, till this 2nd half. Our offense has maintained an aggressive, attack mentality and the 2nd half went horribly conservative. Perhaps the coach Day made a calculation that our defense was going to win this one and the two stripped balls solidified that mindset. Too little of Master Teague III and far too much Justin in this one to suit me.
