Hey guys, I am taking my boy to his first OSU game Saturday. He's a pre-teener/7th grader. Does anyone have ideas on the "to do's" of GameDay?? Thanks for any input! Go Bucks!!

The biggest one that comes to mind is the marching band's Skull Session. The band marches into St. John Arena (at least it was in that arena a number of years ago) and practices their pregame and halftime show. It's fun and gets you fired up for the game. It's usually an hour or so before the game. Plus, if the visitor's band is there, they play too.
Lane Avenue will have a lot of tents for souvenirs, local bands, and beer tents.

Skull Session is two hours before kickoff at St John. Cheerleaders warm up outside of St. John, north of the Shoe, about that time too. Don't miss the Ramp Entrance by TBDBITL. Chicken gyro or brat from a cart on Lane Ave. at least take in the aroma. Stop in at Conrad's or College Traditions to look at ALL the Buckeye merchandise. Walk through the Hall of Fame at The Schott to check out some history. Enjoy the victory!!! and the singing of Carmen Ohio! GO BUCKS! It's 9:41....

The skull session is a must if you're taking him for the first time...
I actually never go inside and get a seat, I stand by the entrance tunnel where the team and band comes into the arena. If you arrive early enough, you will get a spot right on the railing. Your kid will be five feet from Urban Meyer and the Buckeyes.
The band will be rocking coming down that tunnel and you will be jacked up from that lol.
I can't remember which gate they come in at....apologize

Take your binoculars. Do not try to watch the game through them - you'll miss too much of the action. But before the game and during time-outs - we loved "sight-seeing" with the binoculars. We'd follow Brutus, check out the loge area, zoom in on the huddles or the band. There is just so much to see and take in - no matter where you sit!
Parking Tip . . . We would always park near the fairgrounds and ride the shuttle in for $1 or $2. I'm not sure if they are still doing that - but it gets you in and out without having to fight the traffic. Also, you can get there early enough to make your way around the previously mentioned spots.

How did it go? I took my wife to the Michigan game last year at Michigan... It was a pretty good time and having OSU lay the wood made it much nicer. Next experience for her is going to be at the Shoe vs. Michigan. I think she would love that. A few years ago, we went to OSU at Purdue on a Saturday night and that was a blast too, but definitely one long day with our kids in tow.
